I've added a photo of our hero Jake. He's doing well, just quite lumpy and sore in places. Still some parasites on him... hope not for much longer. Jake's story was in the Bucks Examiner and again last week. I hoped they'd mention DogLost but I'm afraid they didn't! I'm still a huge fan and will always encourage people to sign up with you. Final update probably: Jake back from vet this evening looking so much more his old self and eating small 'sensitive' meals. Back to vet on Friday for bathing. Going into all the local shops to share the good news and remove posters today was great: all so relieved. Amazing to think so many people were as worried about him as we were. Will have to parade our hero along the high street soon! Sandie suggested a photo of Jake once he's settled in, so will happily provide that for you. Thanks again DogLost. Great news - Jake's back! Can hardly believe it. Found by a dog walker today, he was walking along at Fullers where he went off exactly a week before. Very dehydrated, skinny and full of ticks and fleas - guess he must have been stuck in a hole all this time after all. Vet has just called to say he's perked up and responding well. 100 ticks off so far! Thank you all at DogLost for the best advice and support ever. Your dedication is amazing and I've told many people about you. I would love to help out in my area if people are needed. Now it really is a Happy New Year! Thank you DogLost.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

email from Owner Jake is back!  Found today walking around where he ran off.  Must been stuck down a hole all week; he's at the vet overnight as dehydrated, v. skinny, dirty and absolutely FULL of ticks.  Yuk, poor thing. Should be home tomorrow.   Thanks are due to all who looked out for him, gave us good advice and kept our spirits up - and there are many - so Thank You.     We're soooo happy, now it IS a happy new year!   Lots of love from all of us, Angela    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's really good that you have had a possible sighting of Jake If you haven't already postered that area it needs to be done also flyers through letter boxes You need to make everyone in that area aware that he's missing Stay safe Jake till you are found xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We've had a sighting reported this evening of a dog seen today at Parslow's Hillock, close to the Lily the Pink pub, near Lacey Green,(near Widmer Feeds for anyone who knows it), Bucks. There's a lot of woodland in that area; the dog ran into the wood looking in good shape and tail up but no sign of anyone else around. The roads are too treacherous tonight here so will go in the morning and flood the area with posters and leaflets. Keeping everything crossed. Will visit rescues tomorrow too and speak to the terrier people. Also schools are back tomorrow so more opportunities to put up posters. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I would definately go to the rescues or get a friend who knows him well to visit on your behalf - the kennels are all at full stretch at the moment and they do not always recognise a description called in over the phone. Did you call the working terrier club to see if they have any helpers in your area who may be able to come out and test some holes out.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Angus, I'm phoning the rescues daily. Should I visit them do you think? Am inclined to think now Jake's probably not down a foxhole but has gone further afield and hopefully has been taken in by someone. Now the holidays are nearly over I'm hoping he'll be taken to a vet/kennel or a dog warden is contacted. We're still calling for him by the badger set at nightfall where he went missing and still postering.  Bye for now.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, thanks Ruth for your message, it's great to hear so many people are calling for him. Great to hear Alfie came home locally after getting stuck. There's hope!  We were walking at the smallholder end near where the badger sets and fox holes are, when they ran off. Puppy Jess came back - that's why I'm thinking he's stuck down a hole as he's bigger than her. At dusk yesterday I left some clothing with my scent plus some smelly food in case he was around. Thanks Sandie for your advice yesterday.  Postering up at Bellingdon and locally too. Yesterday Mix 107 said they'd put out an item over the radio about him.  Didn't hear it but assume it went out. Will try other local stations today.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hiya Wondered if there is any news on Jake? I have told my friend about him as she works for the south Bucks RSPCA,and I have been walking up at Fullers Hill every day this week and been telling the walkers that I see there about Jake,my friend has been calling "Jake" as we walk. I will be up at Fullers later so will keep looking, where exactly did you see him was it the Fullers Clsoe end or nearer the small holding? Will keep looking. Ruth (we spoke the other day dog walker) Good luck and don't give up hope xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just looked at your dogs reunited section and was interested to read about leaving articles with a scent known to him at the point he was last seen, so will do that tomorrow too. We reckon he could well be stuck down a badger/fox hole, roe deer in the area too.                So heartening to read of dogs getting home safely. Poster power obviously works so will really go for it tomorrow - your posters are great. Trying hard to stay positive, even when locals tell me he could have been sold on by local gypsies by now.  That's all I needed to hear! Ps Insurance company offers a reward so have put that on my flyers as added incentive. Also asking homeowners to check their garage/outbuildings. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for all your advice. Still no sign of him sadly. Have postered in Chesham and will carry on doing so tomorrow plus further afield. Most landowners and loads of dog walkers in the area are looking out for him.  Put details onto RSPCA national database this morning. Am speaking to kennels, DWs and those 2 rescue centres daily. Do you know of any other rescues? Also, not sure what the 'pounds' are - do you mean the rescue centres or somewhere else?  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Try Chiltern Dog Rescue 01442 876009, Stokenchurch Dog Rescue  01494 482695 and Green Meadows Kennels in Chalfont St Giles 01494 872320 (latter used by Amersham Police for strays). If he's still missing when I get back to work on Monday, I'll display some posters at work in Amersham. Good luck xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Early days yet, as only lost today. If Jake knows his way home from the walk, he could turn up at home any time. Please leave a way open for him to enter the garden and lleave some of his bedding and food by  the door, or somewhere safe outside, and hopefully he will stay in the area. If not home tomorrow, and you have not already done so, please contact all dog wardens and pounds in your area. Stray dog advice can be found on your council website. Also notify police and all vets in the area. he could be handed in. You will need to visit your pounds every couple of days as dogs can be re-homed after only seven days if not claimed. You will need to get hundreds of posters up immediately, both in the area of loss and a bit further away. The more people aware, the more chance he will be home quickly. Also I would advise you to poster all pubs in the area, markets, and boot sales, as these are the places that dogs can get sold on. Good Luck for tomorrow, and we will do all we can to help you.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry jake is missing. Owner - your account is activated. If you could possibly upload a photo of Jake, your poster would straight away be ready for you. To view it and then print off, you would need to click on DogPoster1 above the dogs details when you are fully logged in. If you have any trouble with the photo, please email it to admin@doglost.co.uk  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
