We managed to get the address of the kennels and went and saw the dog (just got back home). The face was so so like Megan it was unbelieveable but sadly it was a Labrador/Collie cross, with white on front feet as well and a bushy tail. Everything seemed so right but one day it really will be her. Thanks for the lead and to everyone for your support.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you andy for your good wishes and lovely comment. We are so sorry we have not been able to get your beautiful girl back to you so far. Some lovely and amazing reunions on our blue pages. Do read them, and please never give up hope. We are all still looking out for Megan each and every day - and I hope you get lucky very very soon. With the start of a new year and summer ahead, there will be many outside gatherings and events, dog shows, fairs, markets, agricultural shows etc etc. She could be spotted at any of these, so do attend any that you are able to, and do give out Megan's flyers. If you would like the wording updated or changed, please do not hesitate to ask. Also, do please continue to check with your pounds and rescue centres in order they realise you are still actively searching. Stay safe Megan, wherever you are, and I wish you all the very best for a reunion very soon.x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have had a phone call from a man who has seen our poster saying that a black lab has been seen running in the church yard at Kenton. It had a collar with a silver disc he said he thought the dog was all black and stocky we did take a ride out there this afternoon but the people we spoke to near the church thought it could have been the one from the local farm. We will keep looking.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is very encouraging Andy. Great you have had this call. Lets hope the dog will show itself again. Would be worth setting up a feeding station somewhere near to where the dead rabbit was, and in a very safe place away from the road. If you could leave food early morning at sawn and later in the afternoon to set up a pattern, you may get the dog coming back. It would be great if it was Megan, but even so, sounds like this dog could do with a bit of help. Bumped due to possible sighting !  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A possible sighting at Needham Lake on Thursday morning of a black labador eating a dead rabbit. It was on its own and ran off when approached. The lady thought it was unusual and  went back yesterday morning and then phoned us. We went round the whole area last night but found nothing. Will try again. as a lot of places there for a dog to hide.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the update Andy, and well done for the media coverage. If you think there is a chance this possible sighting could be Megan then make sure there are hundreds of posters around that area, and be sure to replace any soiled ones everywhere. Its tough I know, but keeping her profile high is the way to go. Bumped due to media. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yet another believed false alarm today. The area a dog was seen was withing 500 metres of a previous false alarm a few days ago (A local dog is known to frequently wander). Thanks to all those who are assisting in all ways. A mention should be made on Tuesday by Lesley Dolphin of BBC Radio Suffolk. I hope the ?200 reward will bring some positve news.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry this was not her but we must keep up the search.  Have also snailmailed some rescues - thank you yasa for helping with this.  Rescues and vets really do need posters in front of their eyes it seems!  I'm taking posters everywhere I go and spreading further afield up the Suffolk coast area.  Dogs have apparently gone missing in the Halesworth area in last few days. Megan, we are determined to find you safe and well, your family are doing an amazing job. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the update Andy. Much appreciated. I know you are really busy with this, and it is the way to succeed. I'm pleased you are replacing soiled posters as people do tend to think the dog has been found. Am snail mailing some more out tomorrow to rescue centres. Do keep it up. Poor Megan must be missing you as much as you are her. Stay safe baby. We are all looking for you. Andy are there many that have disappeared? If so are they in the same area? Andy I do hope you get some positive feed back soon. I have emailed a sheet to jimi for passing to you with some contacts and ideas for places to get posters to. You need to keep Megan's profile up big time now, and target places where the most people meet and pass through etc. Hopefully you will be able to follow some of it up - I know you work long hours and Megan has gone missing from outside your home area which makes it so much harder for you. I'm hopeing she has been picked up by someone really, and that we now just need to flush her out but we must continue to persue every avenue. Good Luck now. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have made contact with the informant. His neighbour who was aware of a found dog is away on holiday at present. We have postered the area and were quite hopeful untill we called in at local shop and were informed that a Black Lab had gone missing from a village nearby but had been reunited with its owner. Our informant will call us when his neighbour returns from holiday.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No news from me today except false alarm - a black lab found in Woodbridge and reunited with her owner within an hour. Also Network Rail called me to say no dogs found on lines, so that's good news.  Derrick Wells (Merc garage at Badley - N of Needham) is looking out, and has put poster up, thanks Derrick. Posters for Andy's area snailmailed to him. Come on Megan, where are you? xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The sighting was between the TVR garage (Kerridges) and the bridge towards Needham Lakes just along the rd.  This was over 2 wks ago.  I spoke to lots of people in Needham Mkt today and no-one had seen her, we wonder if she could be heading towards her home NW of where she went missing.  I've sent Andy more posters to copy & put up in that area  & between.  Lots of posters now around Needham, I've added lots more (pubs, takeaways, footpaths, etc.) + given to postman.  Also put up at Seapets, Martlesham, local vets, Budgens Woodbridge.  Megan can be nervous.  Keep safe Megan till we find you. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for clarifying that Andy. I wasn't sure. Lets hope this leads to something and that beautiful Megan will be back with you soon. You are all working very hard on this I know. She could be still loose around that area, so if its not far from where she originaly went from I'm wondering if you should be laying scent back to the house, from the places she's been seen, just in case, and leave some bedding of hers in a safe place nearby with food. jimi can advise you on that I'm sure. jimi - I have emailed Andy an information sheet and the full list of Suffolk vets. Sorry if you have done this, but not sure if he is picking up emails or using another computer at the moment. We can get going now that Andy is on here, but could really do with that proper photograph. Descriptions are no good with re-homing centres and cross breed dogs, everyone describes them differently which is why he needs to visit in person. Megan could also still be living rough, which is why we will do everything in the way of postering. Thanks everyone for all your hard work on here. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't lose heart Andy, dogs have been reunited after many months or longer.  You need to keep calling Dog Wardens and Rehoming Kennels - I've tried to post the nos. on here again but it's been knocked out!  So I'll post them to you.  I've also sent you flyers to put through doors, on car windscreens & hand to people + laminated posters to stick up where Yasa suggests.  Also put them by the Indian & Chinese takeaways & ask if they've seen her - she could have headed in the direction of their smells!  I know you're not in the area but could your friends do this for you?  Radio Suffolk don't do lost dogs anymore (although it's worth a try esp when Mark Murphy's on 01473 212121) - SGR may do them.  And get a pic of her on here when you can.  Keep in touch. Thanks Shirley, and hi Andy, and welcome on board. It will be so much easier to communicate with you now. Please dont lose hope, it is still very early days. I am pleased to here that you have managed to get loads of posters up, and many people notified. I have just re- emailed posters to all the Suffolk district and borough councils for you, and will see what other contacts I can find to email more. There is a very good possibility that Megan has been picked up or taken in by someone who has not reported her as found. I'm afraid this does happen, especially if the dog is loving and friendly. You need to continue with the postering and media. Contact all your local newspapers, and freebie papers and get an advert in. You can simply ring the news desk to do this. Also approach your local radio station and ask for some announcements to be made. You really need to make Megan too hot to handle in case she has been stolen now. Good places to poster are railway and train stations, bus stops, post offices, local shops, supermarkets, car parks, take away food shops, re-cycling centres, dog bins and posts in dog walking areas, postmen, bin men etc. Ask the postman to take one back for the sorting office notive board. Taxi ranks and taxi offices, grooming parlors, pet shops and animal stores. Hand out the mini flyers that have been done for you by majorjet to dog walkers etc, and post through doors in surrounding streets. Good Luck now. She is out there somewhere, and someone knows something. Do keep in touch with rescue centre very regularly because of this seven day ruling that dogs can be re-homed. Many many posters put up in villages surrounding the area of loss. Contact made with Lost Dog Centres and Pounds also RSPCA and local vets. Needham Market has many posters in public places but no reports of late. I am at a loss as to how a dog can just vanish into thin air with no sightings? She disappeared from a small Cul-de sac. Thanks to all for your support but due to the time that has passed I am beginning to fear the worst.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Andy would you leave us an update please on Megan - what you have done so far etc, and any more sightings. Go to the menu left hand side and log in. Just type in your email and password. If you have forgotten your password press the button for it to be sent to you immediately. You should then be able to leave a comment by clicking the blue cross where it says 'add a comment'. We really need to hear from you now, Megan has been lost some time, and can be re-homed after only seven days if in a rescue centre. Please let us know if you are still having problems straight away. Thank you. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't lose heart Andy, dogs have been found many months or longer after they disappeared.  You need to keep ringing the Dog Wardens Mid Suffolk 01473 727473, Suffolk Coastal 01394 383789 (or 444000), St. Edmundsbury 01284 757058.  And Rehoming Kennels West End, Buxhall 01449 737641, Pampered Pets, Hacheston 01728 747760, Meadow Green 01508 548216.  Also any other Kennels you find, and Vets.  I have sent you flyers to put thru doors, hand out to people, put on car windscreens + laminated posters to stick up everywhere.  If you can print some pix to send to vets that would be good.  I know you're not in the area, but can you get a friend to do some of this?  It's hard I know but the more you do the better the chance of getting Megan home.  Try to get her photo on here as soon as you can.  And keep in touch. Being a Valgrays helper I often get sent lists of dogs in the pounds that are due to be PTS as their time is up in the pound.   One of the dogs photos is so like the description of Megan.  I have phoned the owner (thanks to doglost for passing on his number to me) and have given him the phone number of the pound to rescue co-ordinator.  Unfortunately I cannot email the photo I have of the dog as the owner does not have email access at the moment.   Can everyone keep their fingers crossed that this girlie I noticed could be Megan .. Have updated page and altered postcode to IP6. Can the friends who were looking after Megan leave the gate to the garden open. She will probably circle back to find an area or a scent she recognises. If owner could lay scent around the area leading back to the garden, and leave some of her blankets and toys there with smelly food such as sardines or tripe. Be very vigilant around day break when she may be trying to find her way back or searching for food. Use old clothing to rub around trees, gate posts etc to leave the scent, or tie bits of blankets and clothing along the route. Can anyone take a photo of a photo with a mobile and text it to us? Or do we need to find a photo of a similar dog? Stay safe Megan until we find you xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has postered area and contacted Dog Wardens, Rescues, etc. but does not have internet access at the moment and cannot get a picture on her page till fixed.  Have given more nos. to call.  She escaped nr. the Fire Station on Sun eve.  She has a collar with tag.  Owner will update when back online. Sorry Megan has gone missing. Follow Sable's advice - and keep calling West End Kennels, Buxhall (visit if you can to check for yourself) 01449 737641 - this is where found dogs in mid Suffolk are taken.  Dog warden for mid Suffolk is on 01449 727473 or 07941 558096.  Suffolk Coastal Council rehoming kennels is Pampered Pets 01728 747760.  Forest Heath District Council (Bury St. Ed's) 01638 719000, Babergh (Hadleigh) 01473 822801, Ipswich Borough Council (including street care) 01473 433015.  Worth trying them all regularly and any more you can find on the Newmarket side of Bury. Keep posters going up and post them to vets in area. Good luck, I hope Megan is safely home soon. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poster everywhere you can. Firstly inform the Dog warden (if this has not already been done), who you will be able to contact at your council offices. Contact rescue kennels and give them a poster of Megan, Posters (In plastic folders) need to be put up in the area where Megan went missing, or where there have been sightings, if any - on lamp posts, entrances to parks and strategic places in the area where she went missing,  like at the start and finish of tracks and paths in parks, dog bins, at vets, pet shops, garages, pubs, carry-out food shops, post offices,  local shops who often allow postcards in the window, supermarkets who have notice boards, community centres, youth clubs, schools etc. You can ask the postman, milkman, taxi drivers, street cleaners, bin men (even put poster on bins), to take some flyers and hand them out on their rounds. You can ask school bus drivers and kids on the bus, or if you have kids on the bus, get them to hand out flyers at school.  Deliver flyers to houses, businesses & pop through letterboxes. Hand out flyers to people in the street, especially dog walkers. Put posters or flyers in car windows. Rescue centres and kennels, also police offices need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Megan, because your dog or it's breed may not be recognised by other people. Get some media coverage if you can, by asking the local radio station to broadcast Megan as missing and put an ad in the local newspaper with a picture of her. Someone may have taken her in so it is important to get posters out there and seen by as many people as possible.  Good luck. Hope she is home very soon.                      Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
