Very unlikely given this dog's age, but a Collie cross has been found Nov 2011 in Scotland, wearing tag Sally. see found pages

This owner deserves to be reunited - she has done so well and worked so hard. Moira, she is out there somewhere, ignore the idiots, we are with you and a whole lot more kind people too - we are rooting for you and Sally. Bless you both. x

Thanks for the update Moira, and sorry you have no news. I'm hopeing she is safe and being cared for by someones fire side. Also sorry about the bad stuff coming your way. Its a shame they have nothing better to do ! Onwards and upwards !! if you have any different photos you think may help please email them to admin@doglost.co.uk with Sally's name and postcode. We will be happy to change the photo on the poster and add another one to the page. Good Luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update - Sal is sadly still missing and no further news. Just back from holiday to very empty house! Now updating photos and posters to renew our search for any news. Any new owners of missing dogs just be aware that posting your email address attracts loads unwanted emails from some very unpleasant people trying to catch the unwary or exploit the vulnerable (what is wrong with them????). Have sent Sally's details to the Traveller Liaison Officer just in case but to be honest I can't see what use she would be to them as she is too old to work.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Moira has just returned my call. She is going to amend the notice board outside her house and mention the fact that a car was seen picking up a dog at about 9pm. She is also going to put more pictures of Sally taken at different angles. Moira is convinced that Sally would not still be straying as she has bad arthritis and would not be able to walk by now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have called Moira this morning for an update but no answer. Left a message so hopefully she will get back to me today.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No news I'm afraid. Moira usually rings and gives me an update if there are any sightings. Drove past her house yesterday and the huge bill board with Sally's details on is still there so I know she hasn't stopped looking. If I hear anything I will definately let you know. It would have been after 9pm. I have been back and forth a lot down that road recently so I'm not sure which day.

Spoken to Moria, they are doing a brilliant job in getting posters out.  I've done smaller ones and an A4 one and emailed them to her.  Monty, Cairn Terrier was reunited last night after five weeks, his finder who visits the area once a month had picked him up in her car took him home and did not see a poster until yesterday.  Not everyone reports a missing dog to the DW or the right authorities and may just think they are abandoned.  Fingers crossed this maybe the case for Sally and she is in the blue soon.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Let's hope this is a positive lead because Sally seems to have vanished into thin air. As she is microchipped I can only assume someone has kept hold of her thinking she has been abandoned.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jasmine-which direction was the car travelling? Best to start putting posters up in garages on that route.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello I think I saw your dog about two weeks ago quite far up wragby road near West barkwith. The dog ran in front of my dads car we, did not stop but the car behind - a red sierra did stop and we think picked it up. I saw your poster and tried to call but the number is not clear. I'm so sorry for not getting in touch before. I hope you find her.

Thanks Jan, but the found dog has been re-united with her family today, so unfortunately not Sally this time. The search goes on.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is an elderly found BC on the FOUND could this be her?  It does say black and white though.  Good luck and fingers crossed she is found soon.  Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been over to Wragby this evening. Spent 2 hours walking public footpaths, back roads and the lakes on the Bardney side of Wrafby but no luck I'm afraid. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Mo, thanks for your update. I know we mustn't get our hopes up too much, but it is a definite possibility its her. Where the sightings were, is that very far from home? Leave  scent trails from the area of sightings back to your home, and leave the gate open with bedding inside. Use some dirty clothing soaked in urine and rub it around the bottom of fences, walls, trees, and gate posts, on the route home. Hopefully if it doesn't rain too much she will pick the scent up. Have you looked for any evidence of scavaging in the area? Bin bags ripped open or disturbed? Are there any water sources she could be visiting? Ponds, or dripping taps? She will be sleeping during darkness I would have thought, but would become active at day break. You are doing a great job, and the fact that sightings are being reported, shows that the posters are being noticed. Stay positive and focused and keep getting more out there. Well done, and keep it up. Hopefully Sally will be back home very soon xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
e mail from owner: hi just giving you an update on Sally. Today (Monday 11th) I had a call from the pet shop in Wragby to say that someone had seen a dog like Sally near Wragby that afternoon. Shortly after that I got another call from one of my daughters who had had a call from a friend to say that someone had seen a similar dog in Wragby at 2pm. I was working but as soon as I got home I went out in the car and my daughter and son in law also and we combed the area - with no luck. However someone walking their dog reckoned they had just seen a dog like Sally on the Bardney road!!!! No luck again but we stayed out till dark calling her and asking everyone we met. All very strange.............. if it is her then we have no idea where she might have been all week? Still all news is potentially good news so my plan is to go out again first thing in the morning with Sally's sister Megan and walk the whole route that a black dog was seen today......... I'll let you know if anything turns up. Not getting my hopes up yet but the way I look at it is that there may be one lost dog out there and even if it isn't mine I will find it one way or another shattered and off to bed MoLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sally's owner, Moira, has just called me to say that there were a couple of sightings yesterday not far from the Wragby crossroads. She and her helpers have been out looking both last night and this morning but no luck so far. I am at a funeral this afternoon but will go over and search the area at about 4 o'clock. If there is anyone else in the area willing to help we would be most grateful. I have advised Moira on how to approach Sally so let's hope it's her and we can get her home soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yasa all of the things you have suggested have been done. This owner is really working so hard to find her dog. I agree an elderly dog wouldn't usually go too far and it is completely out of character. The owner has been realistic and searched high and low for a body and all her farming neighbours are helping too. The road that passes by the property she went missing from is a road that holiday makers use to get to Skegness, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes so we are hoping that someone has picked her up on the route to their holiday and will see the posters on their way back. In the meantime every outbuilding on all neighbouring properties is being searched and rescue centres are being visited. The other dog she lived with is pinning for her but has also been used in the search. I am at a loss as to what to suggest next but if you have any more ideas give the owner a call as she is begining to lose heart and really appreciates our support.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ashmark, thanks for your help. sounds like we are looking at a fairly rural area here.  Elderly dog, wouldn't have thought would have got far. Have neighbouring  properties and outbuildings been checked, ponds, swimming pools etc, just in case. Any barbed wire fencing she could have got caught up on, or any ditches? I have gut feeling she is holed up somewhere, just terrified to come out. Would squeeky toys help, or any other dogs she is familiar with that could sniff her out? Has any bedding been put out with food do you know? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoken to Sallys owner again today, she has been so busy doing everything possible to find Sally, she has even got a giant missing poster  up outside her home. There have been no sightings whatsoever. Sally suffers with arthritis and should be on medication for this so we need to find her soon. I have left details with Manby district council to be passed on to the dog warden and most of the other district councils have been notified. I've also taken a poster to our local vets and Pets at Home in Grimsby.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I feel really bad about this one. I promised the owner I would go over and search yesterday but a neighbours husband was rushed into hospital during the night and I was needed here. Is there anyone else in the area who could help. I can't go today but may be able to get there this weekend if Sally hasn't been found by then.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

wishing you luck with this one,,too far for me xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just spoken to Sallys owner and she is doing everthing to find her old dog. She has contacted all the vets, dog warden, local council, neighbours, joggers, dog walkers and rescue centres. I have advised her to visit the rescue centre in person and she is going to do that in the morning. A photo was sent to admin but as it has not yet appeared she is going to send it again. The dog is a collie cross but looks like a sheltie. Once the photo is on site I will print off posters and take them to Wragby in the morning. If there are any other helpers in the area it might help to know that Sally wandered off the property which is opposite Rand Farm on the main Wragby to Lincoln road. As she hasn't been found in the local area I am assuming that she has been picked up by a motorist and taken further afield.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I hope you find Sally soon I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a dog, my sheltie Princess has been missing for 2 months now. Put some wee down where she went missing.  I wish I had done it straight away I might have her back by now. I wish you all the luck in the world. Gay xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live about 30 minutes drive from Wragby so if you can send a photo to doglost asap I will print some poster off and get them put up all around the area. As it's an old dog I don't suppose it will go very far but there are a lot of fields around the area so there will be plenty of hiding places. It would be a good idea to go back to the place you last saw your dog as they often return to the place they went missing from. Try leaving a dog blanket or something with your smell on it to encourage the dog to stay in the area. Make sure you inform all the vets and the dog warden and put a poster up in the pet shop.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
