What a great story, thanks for updating us Angus.   I'm sure Fly will be fine now she's home;  welcome back, lovely girl and enjoy some TLC before you get back to work, which I'm sure you will also enjoy, knowing you collies! xx

I have just spoken with Anne, Fly is at the vets at the moment getting some treatment for a gash wound to her hind leg but other than that she is fine and eager to get out and work - she is a working sheepdog. She was reunited after a phone call from Mr Morgan, a local farmer in Newport Pagnell who had spotted her in one of his fields. The family and other 2 dogs went to the scene and searched for her, after about 1/2 hour Anne's brother spotted her tail, she was being called by members of the family but would not come to them, Dad remembered the instructions that I had emailed over to them about not not going to her, he crouched down low and continued to call her - she eventually came to him. Brilliant news - everyone is ok after the accident except for one bullock who suffered injuries that meant he had to be pts.Anne and family are complete again and Fly is eager to work once she is declared fully fit.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have had a drive around this morning on my way into work early at 6am, no sign from the road network, the area that she has been spotted in contains a network of lakes and quite a lot of grass land trees and hedgerows (bunnies galore)so if she stays off the roads she will be quite hard to spot as there is a lot of cover. Willen lake will be heaving over the weekend so i will  try to get there with some of the mini posters and hand out to people. Stay safe Fly we are looking for you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm so sorry to see the circumstances Fly is missing and I hope she is reunited quickly I hope all the passengers and other animals are ok too ! It looks like lots of coverage has been given in terms of postering and making local vets aware/media coverage so ,forgive me if this has already been done,.  I'm sure there will be posters up in the main motorway service areas in both directions  Just, I wondered if places like the smaller service areas on roads off the M1   ie Travelodges  have been postered ie on A roads off of the M1  in opposing directions from the location of the accident (as people could branch off from the motorway and may spot her on their travels a little further afield. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Angus, sorry to see Fly is now missing have being involved in an RTA. Thanks for helping her owners with very good advice and also putting her on DL.   I've emailed smaller posters and scenting instructions to her owner and yourself, hope they help in the search for Fly and she is in the blue soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have posted Fly on behalf of her owner Anne, The family were involved in an accident on the M1 motorway just north of Newport Pagnell services on Friday morning last week, 4 cows and 3 dogs escaped when the car and trailer overturned, all the other animals were captured at the scene but Fly fled the area and is still missing. She has been sighted over the last few days running hard alongside various roads and overbridges. Anne has seen her once but she was so scared that she just kept running, I have offered some advice on plotting her movements on a map which they are doing, laying some scent and some clothing at areas she has been sighted in. She seems to be in fairly close proximity to the garage that the car they were travelling in has been taken for repair, so it is possible that she is picking up the scent of her owners and other livestock. Owners have postered area where she was lost well and sightings are being called in.Have advised on the softly softly approach if they spot her again. Local vets will be advised over the next few days and MK dog warden numbers passed to Anne. Anne is having trouble with internet access so any help or sightings please phone the mobile number on th eposter phone or send text. local papers have been very supportive in running 2 stories this week http://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/news/Collie-still-on-the-run.4295991.jp Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
