Is it possible that a trap could be set where Dave may have been sighted?. As he was looking sad, it could be that he was chased out of his own territory by a more dominant cat. and has become lost,. and disorientated. It can happen. Paws xd.

The following is a post on Facebook:

Natalie Rose I saw a cat exactly to this description yesterday by Asda in Frome- by the nature reserve he was wondering near the top of the wooden posts and looked quite sad ☹️ my little girl tried to get his attention and he stared for a while. I wonder if it was him? Might be worth having a look around there, I feel awful now - if I’d known I would of tried to get him x

Toby - this link contains a comprehensive list of things to try, many of them are mentioned by janiejewel1649 below but perhaps if you print it off and assign tasks between yourself and your Dad it may help (you will need to cut & paste to your browser):

Presume ALL outbuildings, including empty houses, and cellars, checked THOROUGHLY. Empty the contents of the hoover on to the garden, as his scent will be there. Put some tuna, or chicken in his dish, and call him; night/early morning is best. Rattle some treats too. Place his UNWASHED blanket into a clean container, along with your scent too. Leave in the garden in a sheltered spot, or hang on the washing line if dry; used towels too. Wipe his scent on your garden fences, gates, doors too; anything leading up to the garden. Try a squeaky toy,m as it may attract his attention. Walk around the area, holding an object with his scent on, and rattle some Dreamies. Someone may be feeding him, as he is a "Community cat" When it`s nightfall, and you are searching, use a strong torch as the light will reflect a cats eyes. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too. Ask around, especially those with children, as they can be very observant. Hand out posters to as many people as you can, and where you can. Hope Dave is home is very soon. I would also suggest that the owner (Your dad) if possible use the same deodorant, or .and aftershave, when he is looking for Dave, as he will recognize the scent, and he is the one Dave trusts. Hope Dave is home very soon. Paws xd.
