Turned out these 2 were from a close neighbour of my daughter, owner did not realise they had wandered off, happy ending.

I have spoken with the finder of these two dogs and they were reunited within an hour or so. The dog warden had no involvement.

Precisely - they don't 'have to' so they don't.
What sort of Dog Warden wouldn't bother to take a picture or scan for a chip???
Their priority should be the welfare of the dogs in their care. What could be better for a stray dog than returning it to its owners?
- hundreds of people in the U.K.
work day & night 365 days a year to help reunite dogs they don't know with owners they've never met.
And they do it ALL FOR FREE.
None of them 'have to' do it - but they do it anyway because they genuinely care about dogs.
Just because your contract doesn't actually state that you 'must' upload a dogs details to the internet so it's poor frantic owners might be able to find it - that doesn't excuse you from NOT doing it.
And to say that Dog Wardens only pass on alerts as 'a courtesy' is outrageously arrogant!!!
Perhaps we should ask WHY most Dog Wardens in the S.E. manage to post alerts on here with photos & full details every day of the week without problems - compared to other areas, where Dog Wardens
have a long history of getting paid to do as little as possible.
It takes a matter of mins to upload a dogs details - but like you say 'you don't have to' - I guess that's why you don't.

FYI Dog wardens do not have to post photos of the dog on here, they are doing that as a courtesy. If the dog is not chipped, then they do not have to do anything more than keep the dog for 7days. If the dog is chipped, they only have to contact the details on that chip.
Anything else they do after that, they are doing extra.

How difficult can it be to check the sex of a dog? And as skyninchar politely asks -
"Which is the Found dog?".
It's hard enough to find a missing pet - we all know that - but what chance do we have if 'finders' & 'Dog Wardens' can't be bothered to include a pets basic details when passing on an alert.

I was recently 'scolded' & 'blocked' on here for daring to suggest that 'some' Dog Wardens weren't pulling their weight.
It was just a suggestion on my part.
But having done my homework & checked the figures I can now say that some Dog Wardens are bone idle & couldn't care less about dogs or their fretful owners.
Local councils employ Dog Wardens to deal with "DOGS" - and that includes tracing owners of stray dogs that are passed on to them by Vets or members of the public. Yet dozens of Dog Wardens upload to doglost without providing a picture or bothering to scan the dog for a chip or check its sex or include its breed & basic colour.
And let's not forget - Dog Wardens are NOT volunteers - they are paid by local councils out of OUR Council Tax.
We have a right to demand a better service from our Dog Wardens.

No more excuses!
