Part of email from Helen re Flyn being home: I have just spoken to Mum as she was drying Flyn after his much needed bath. He is still not very mobile as his little legs are stiff, but he is lapping up all the attention and is clearly on 'cloud nine' to be back home with his family. From Helen (via shirley). I was SO pleased to hear that Flyn has been found. I was with this lady at the show and really felt terrible that we couldn't find poor Flyn. I hope he recovers very quickly. Ann JLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Confirmation received, it is Flyn! He was wandering on the field close to where he was lost. A Local gentleman saw him from an upstairs window and went out to investigate. Flyn was timid and very tired. The chap managed to back him into a corner and picked him up and took him home. He then rang the dog warden who got in touch with us. Flyn seems to be exhausted and shocked, but is now back with his family where he belongs. We can't thank everyone enough for the help and support that we have received - dog people are the best - words are not enough. Thank-you all. Helen Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live only a couple of miles from where Flyn went missing and I drive past every day on my way to work so I'm keeping an eye out for him. Also walked my dogs in that direction this afternoon to see if I could spot him but no sign. Does anyone know which direction he went in when he reached the road? Could ADMIN check my details, my postcode is NG11, I didn't get Flyn's email poster but I received the poster for a dog lost in NG31 Grantham which must be over 20 miles from me. Thanks Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Hope flyn is found very soon.. I have owned shelties and know how timid they can be, my friends dog was lost for 5 weeks, and then successfully found so do not give up hope, very resilient little dogs. We managed to get this sheltie back after early morning radio announcements, when the farmers and game keepers listen in, friendly gamekeeper helped find her, would it be radio notts ? we used radio lincs which may cover the area also?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Helen: Sadly no news yet, Mum and Dad are there today, they live about 30miles north, but will keep going back as much as possible. Unfortunately Flyn won't go to anyone but Mum, but he may be drawn by their other shelties. He won't go to strange dogs though ... I live near saltburn (TS12) but will be back by the week-end if not sooner ... Mum and Dad are not very fit or mobile, so as many eyes as possible would be great, but I feel that they are the only ones Flyn will go to, as they are always out together as a "family" Mum, Dad, 3 shelties and the pomeranian ... It seems there are no posters up in the area as yet ... Thank-you ... HelenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all, I have just been in touch with Helen (daughter of Flyns owner who is Wyn). The contact phone number 07749141110 is fine as that number is for Helen's husband. The number I posted below is Helen's mobile. Either is fine to use. I can also supply phone numbers for Wyn (Flyn's owner) if needed. Sadly still no news on Flyn .. Note .. unless the phone number has been changed, the owners contact phone number that I was given is ..... 07749141408 (which is different from the number in the first message) .. apologies if my number is wrong. Shirley.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Information taken from other email groups: Flyn slipped his collar and just took off incredibly fast. So many people tried to catch him, he was just too quick sadly. He was last seen going out onto the road. If he keeps travelling this fast he will be so difficult to find and could be out of the area. People attending the show who live locally are alerting local dog walkers, some vets have been contacted I understand. Some have driven around today (Tuesday) without any sightings. This dog will not allow you to catch him, please call the owner if sighted. I am lead to believe that this little fellow is a rescue and was previously running free for some time, so he has experience of this, and will definately evade capture. I passed the details onto doglost when a friend attending the show phoned me and asked me to add the details. Just hope he is found safe and well. I do not know the dog or the owner. Shirley.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please show yourself Flyn. You need to be home and in the warm. Fingers and paws crossed from me and my Sheltie girl for good news. Sorry we are too far away to be of physical help but we are thinking of you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
the sheltie lady
Sheltie's Mum is right - they will be so scared when on the loose and tend to go 'deaf' to anyone calling them....even their owners. If he is spotted, try to entice him to you, rather than chase him as he will go further away. Food is a good bet and if anyone gets near enough to be able to get close, try to grab him and pick him up. This little one was running at a tremendous speed when he got loose yesterday, so he could be further afield. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

With shelties its poster, poster, poster and walking the streets. The most recent shelties on this site were caught by sheer persistence by their owners, staying out there till they're hungry then they'll fall for the food. They won't even come to their owners calling once on a run, so it's very softly softly. More often than not they WILL go back to the spot they got lost, so keep checking and maybe leave some clothingToo far away in Kent to help, but spreading the word.xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
