As a carer of two white sheps I keep coming back here and hoping it will be in the blue, too far away to offer any practical help except to send my best wishes. DaveLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have had no sightings of Jake up to now Jake is on the MOD land and as people are not aloud on there this is made it difficult to get any sightings but the owner is very sure he is still on this land which is vast. We are trying somethings to get Jack to show and if there is any news will update. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It seems there may have been another sighting all good news it is on the same side as the trap, So Jake is making his way back to where he was when he was chased away by his son so fingers crossed it will not be long now. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good idea- mind you if any thing like my GSD will be a pig at any food left around. At least he is remaining around this food area and not wandering off. Hoping he takes the bait- this boy has been playing 'catch me if you can' for too long now- hope he decides a nice warm dry home is a much better option. CJ Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi CJ and Aunt Stef - Area Co-ordinator no sightings today but owner is trying to stop people who are meaning well in feeding him to much so he will get that much hungrier to go for the food in the trap so far he has had a lot of food put down in and around the area he has been spotted so owner is now going to try and stop them from doing this and she will leave small amounts leading up to the trap. With a bit of luck he will go for it over the weekend if not to well feed. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi .I have been out with Debs, Jakes mum this afternoon but no sign of him, I also went back as it was getting dark to where he was spotted this morning, but no sign although I did keep hearing a dog bark in the distance, not sure that it was Jake though. Doglady, it was great to talk to you this evening. Can't wait to see you home safe Jake.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Karen thank you for your offer very much appreciated. I have phoned you will talk to you about your help when you call back, The owner as had a sighting this morning again the area that JAKE is been staying and she has been putting food down now the people that are manning the CCTV said that JAKE had not touch the food also the owner had JAKES son with her and he was off lead and JAKE was laying down in the grass but when his son run to him JAKE took off so the owner called the son back and walk away she did notice that JAKE had stop and she saw where his foot prints was as tho he had stop to see if he was being followed, the owner has told me that JAKE was a stud dog and did live outside, so JAKE is quite independent so the only way forward will be the cage, Carol is picking the cage up today and will again be talking to the owner, we are all in contact with the owner who is doing very well in keeping the food supply going. We will up date to the progress as it goes along. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Glad that there is someone on the case that knows what they are doing. I am sure that Jakes owners is very relieved that Doglady has contacted Carol who is now helping. Come on Jake, theres a good life waiting for you, get a wriggle on and do yourself a favour!. Stay safe until then. Also am not surprised that RSPCA etc cannot be bothered, it means that they will have to put themselves out. Hope today this turns blue. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I wondered if I could be of any help, I run County Pet Services and have a white GSD myself and would like to see this boy home safe. I live in Amesbury but walk dogs in porton and gomeldon everyday. I will put posters up at the local vets tomorrow. If you need any assistance watching the trap around the clock I will be happy to help. You can call me direct on 07989 381509. KarenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just talk to the owner and she is so gratefully for the help of Carolmid she as been in touch with the police and the RSPCA and the local dog warden who are all not at all interested in helping the owner, and so is now very relived that someone is going to help her get JAKE home she is doing a good job by batting the area that Jake is in so that when the trap is in place he would have been going to the area for his food. The original owner has been and seen the dog but it just runs from him and has Carolmid as said this dog was not in a home like situation so the dog is very confused. Anyway fingers cross with the good help that the owner has got now JAKE will be home soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

To Calamity, myself and the owner of Jake have discussed a suitable location in which we may place a dog trap, further more the location that he was last spotted and has returned to on other ocassions has a cctv camera and is manned by a security guard who has informed Jake's owner that he will watch the trap. I can quite assure anyone interested that I have experience with placing, baiting and looking after a trap that I have the animal's welfare forthmost in mind. Someone also mentioned that Jake's previous owner of 2 years alos attended to try an persuade the dog, but I have been made aware that this wasn't a dog with a domestic type of home, rather a breeder type of existence, so this makes a difference. In my experience, when a dog is spooked the only chance of capture is probably with a trap. Also bear in mind that time is now of the essence, this dog is crossing a main road, he is on a farm, the farmer wants to shoot him and there will soon be lambe arriving!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I hope they can work out a suitable location as i thought Jake was in pretty open countryside so finding somewhere he will come towards is not going to be easy. I understand the previous owner who had jake for 2 years is now helping and i would have thought he would stand the best chance of getting close to Jake, Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Calamity Jane - Area Co-ordinator, A trap is being arranged as I type this, also the person who is going to help owner with this is a very experienced person on trapping dog ans is also very experienced with GSD she has done theis a ot she as also talk to the owner and she as made it very clear the trap as to be man day and night, the owner as agreed this and she will have this lady with her helping with the right place to set it up and the food to. But do agree owner and ex owner please do not chase the dog and if sight call softly but walking away. will ring owner again and have a talk to her. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Did they take the son down with them?? if on an extending lead im sure this will be the best lure to get jake to come close. the smelly food will work but owners need to be calm. Any panic in their voice or movements will only spook him more. If a trap is to be used then it must be checked often also will need to be in a suitable location. It will take a few days for dog to get used to a trap therefore food will need to be left outside for a few feeds until the dog is familiar with it beofre setting it and baiting inside with more smelly food..CJ Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jake stopped dead, turned and then ran off. Owner drove to where he was headed and Jake was there, she got out of car and crouched down and Jake fled. Last seen heading towards the A34. Come on Jake, game is over now and ifyou knew how much chicken and mackerel was in your owner's backpack, you would sure as diddly come! possible sighting of the dog on the Cholderton Road at 11pm last night, man stopped in his car and saw the dog trotting along the road happy as larry. He tried to get him to come into the car but the dog ran off into nearby fields, this road is almost 10 miles from where jake went missing in upper clatford in a village called Greatley. Seems Jakey boy is trying to head back to his home in Shipton Bellinger. Owner has been out since 9am and has delivered hundreds of posters and leaflets. come on jake.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Was Jake a rescue or was it that the owners have just moved in, if the later would it be a possibility that Jake was trying to find his old home? If helpers and the owners get lots of posters up and you get early sightings this will help to get Jake home soon, also get smaller posters in the neighbours doors to alert them of Jake being missing so they can look in gardens and also outbuildings also local dogie walking areas. Hope Jake is found soon good he is chipped. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
