I am so happy! We have been looking for him every day when we walked our dog. Yesterday I found some white fur in the forest so I brought it back and was going to see my neighbour this morning who is far more experienced with dogs than I am, and show it to her. Thankfully, I can now put it in the bin!

Oh well done all of you!! Great to see him safe.

Update from vet.!!! Dougal has slight temperature and his breathing is slightly laboured. He will need careful watching for next few days. He is back home with owners. He was happy to see them and wagged his tail a little, which is a milestone for Dougal. He is tucked up warmly now and having all rest required for his recovery.💙

OMG This has made my day! Buckhurst Hill!!! This little man has certainly been on his travels! Stay safe and warm Dougal and well done to the lads who found him, and everyone involved xxx

Well done Shelagh & everyone else involved. So glad he is safe x

I’m delighted to say Dougal is safe! Retrieved him a while ago with help from his fosterer, whole cooked chicken and massive sausage!. Two wonderful lads herded him into a children’s playground in Buckhurst Hill, locked him in and stood guard outside until I got there. I really can’t thank them enough for securing him. Dougal is uninjured. Dirty, terrified, and cold. He is at vet for check up as precaution, with his fosterer. Thank you so much to everybody who helped search and get this terrified boy back safely. There are some photos of lovely lads,as well as sweet Dougal when he was still “in nursery”. I will try to get somebody to send to admin for reunited pic. Xxx

After an urgent text message from Shelagh as I got off the train from a day at work to tell me Dougal had just run into the forest close to my home, spent a good hour in the pitch dark forest in the mud (Shelagh and other searchers could be seen in the same area) - impossible task - no way one could see a tiny bichon in that without a search light. Looked for another hour this morning. GREAT NEWS just now - Clever Shelagh and Dougal's fosterer found him a short while ago - he's ok but hungry and going to vet. REUNITED!! My dog will be delighted that, after dragging her round looking for Dougal for the last 7 hours of her dog walks, we can go where she likes now.

This little monkey has given all of us the run around today. We had couple of sightings, but unfortunatley he went under small gap in fence before we could get to him. We have loads of searchers, sitting staking out key areas, couple feeding stations set up. Tomorrow loads more posters are going up to replace ones that are being removed. Little Dougal thankfully is fine, uninjured and fast.Drone group and tracker dog requested via there webpages.Stay safe little guy till we can help you back to safety.x

Nicolapicola I remember a few years ago a lost dog stayrd in one area
Some people had BBQS most nights bit the dog never showed
A lady that lived nearby who had 2/3 GSDs used to walk the area.
Over two weeks he got nearer and nearer to her house
Ended up on her settee for the night reunited the next day
A dog will trust other dogs more than people
It needs a very calm dog though
I so hope is home soon Fingers crossed

Patlucky: Yes, I thought that - there is a picture on a local dog group site that shows Dougal lying happily on top of a larger hairy slumbering dog and I was thinking, if we find Dougal, I would ask if large dog was able to be brought along to encourage him to be caught. I went out this morning on icy crusty ground but no sight of him - he must be freezing, poor little thing.
BigGSDPatlucky
A VERY calm dog might help as they are pack animals
They may not trust people but might trust a VERY calm dog
Good luck

Possible sighting at Daws Hill E4 at about 11.30 pm yesterday (10/2) - this morning someone saw him on edge of Chingford Plain close to Connaught Water - field area where the water butt is. Several of us were up there searching after this but the area very busy with Sunday trippers/children/running, barking dogs as it is the main walk on a Sunday from hunting lodge to Connaught water for people. He seems to be covering a big area on the run but I live close to latest sighting and my dog and I will be out looking again on our afternoon walk. Seems as though Bury Wood/Chingford Plain area is where he is hanging out at present.

I can walk up that way from my house and alert other walkers as I see them xx
Shelagh
Search parties organised throughout the day. Please contact number on poster if you can help. Dogs only on lead please. .

divegirl - Waltham forest for dogs facebook (am not on facebook but it is an open public thingy)says he was last seen yesterday running along Epping New Road and into forest Chingford side, I think. I live not far from there (I'm not sure where exactly along there he went into the forest and, as you know, it is VAST) but I can go out looking tomorrow morning with my dog. Search going on now.
Shelagh
