there are some pretty amazing people on this planet who will go to the ends of the earth to help animals and this trio of little angels deserve all the praise in the world for their patience, endurance, determination and surviving the cold and damp for hours. molly has no idea how kind most humans are - i now hope she will settle somewhere where it is 100% escape proof! one of my dogs is via doglost.co.uk a romanian lost on day 1 - three weeks later ended up in manchester dogs home...... with us for 4 yrs now - but still very nervous of strangers

Thanks poochpal, for posting all the details about Molly, as I don`t do Facebook. Well done to all who helped trap Molly. It must be so difficult for these rescue dogs who don`t under stand that people are trying to help them. Imagine going to a place you dont`t know, and someone just puts some food down for you. Sure Molly will settle down soon. Paws xd

For the non Facebook users:
Rescue success!! After the good luck with the cats the week has only got better. Many of you will know that for the last 4 months we have been trying to catch a dog called molly. Molly is a terrified dog who was in rescue with another organisation and after finding her a foster home she unfortunately escaped. When we heard she was missing we offered our help to the rescue in taking on the task of securing her again. A highly intelligent, frightened dog who only knew humans as a negative and was used to living outside, we realised instantly this was not going to be one of our simple captures. With help from sightings given to us we managed to track her. In her 4 months living wild she has covered 6 towns. We have been there all the way setting up feeding stations and traps in the hope of catching her. So many kind members of the public letting us use their gardens or helping us in our work. We have monitored her with cameras gathering endless amounts of footage. Although knowing she was clever we could never have imagined just how clever. She knew how our traps worked and would eat without setting them off or avoid them totally. We spent so long building her trust where she would be waiting when we arrived with food, keeping a fields distance most of the time, for a quick get away if we did not leave fast enough. Spending countless days and all through many nights sat hoping for her to get caught in the trap.
Unfortunately many people who did not know mollys story thought she was a normal missing pet and would try to catch her and chase her which caused her to move on away from us or get more nervous.
She took a liking to an old pig sty which i spent many days and nights sat in freezing cold with a rope system in place to shut the door on her. But she would not go through the door if she knew i was around and would tease me by walking past to say hello.
But eventually we found a quiet patch of woods in coxley where she seemed to settle. Here she was happy to come and go day and night and slowly but surely got more used to the trap. Just as we thought we were nearly there fireworks scared her off into glastonbury and then street. It was soul destroying and we thought we would have to start from scratch. But amazingly as we had just started to lose hope she managed to find her way back as if she felt at home in the set up we had made. Knowing the carnival was coming and that she would be hungry we wanted to make the most of this opportunity and set the trap again. Staying all day and night we finally heard a clang just after midnight. We raced to the trap to find her in it and hearts racing managed to get the trap into our van and get her safely to the shelter. Once back we could go about cutting the lead she still had around her neck and getting her warm and safe.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that have helped me and lyn.
The most huge thanks to nick haselwood who has been my amazing support spending many days and nights sat in the cold bored stiff, trapsing fields and woods. Feeding, monitoring, planning, and generally putting up with my stubborness to never give up. What a team the 3 of us have been.
Thank you to those who have given help with sightings or allowed us to use their land.
A massive thankyou to the brownes of brownes garden centre coxley and all of the staff. Letting us set up our area and then spending days sat there. What a super place this is with truly wonderful people. The support and help they have given has been more than i have ever known. I just cant put into words how totally amazing they have been and urge you if you are local to visit them.

Total dedication from our volunteer Jo and co from Happy Landings has paid off at last. No more feed stations and traps to monitor, no more sitting in the rain hoping to get a sighting, you all deserve a well earned rest. Thank you to everyone who has helped keep Molly safe. X

Hi, I just thought I would drop a note to say I may have seen Molly tonight. I saw a dog on the pavement on the side of the road looking a bit nervous. It was dark so I couldn't be sure but I searched for lost dogs near Wells and saw this post and the photo struck a chord- it was near Littlewell Farm so that matches the comments below. I stopped and searched for a little while but it was pitch black and I didn't see her again. It sounds like you already have a lot of info and getting close to getting her back but thought I'd let you know anyway. I hope you are reunited soon. Alex

Molly has happily become accustomed to the trap but due to complaints from the b&b it has meant the whole process has been interrupted and had to start from scratch at a different location or she would have been caught much sooner. We know molly very well and spend time with her daily. She is happy to go in the trap and once she is brave enough to take a few more steps and get all of herself in she will be secure. Not going to rush this now she is going nearly all way into the trap. If the b&b would stop putting food out it would stop them being disturbed by her and therefore not have reason to complain. We have full permission from owner of where molly is and their fantastic co operation and cant thank them enough for their amazing support. She is however a wild dog and never been a pet and we urge anyone to advise public that she has a team who are aware of her and not to go near her to interrupt their work. Many thanks.

We are in contact with the people involved. There has been some headway but due to Molly's experiences before she came to England her capture has to be handled very carefully. It is best that her location etc. is not made public for obvious reasons.
Svend
Skywalker99, I understand the owner (a dog rescue and rehoming group) has been receiving the assistance of someone with experience of catching lost dogs, but that Molly has so far proved unwilling to enter a trap. It's perhaps a bit far for Ray, but I will suggest it to the owner.
Skywalker99
Are owners getting advice from someone like Ray Dedicoat?
Susan
Just spoken to Littlewell Farm B & B owners who say Molly was back near their property. Over the past weeks they have seen (and heard) her and have pictures on their night camera. She still has her lead attached. Her coat has grown since the poster photo was taken and is looking a bit like a lion she said !Last edited: 2017-10-12 11:39:24 by Susan

Saw Molly half an hour ago at the field gateway next to the layby at Littlewell Coxley.

Patlucky, I think you must have posted (below) on the wrong thread: Molly is missing from Wincanton, Somerset. Are you referring to Merry ID 120256?Last edited: 2017-09-28 07:59:32 by Svend

Copied from Face book from last day

There was a possible sighting with a credible description in sywell road, little harrowden yesterday at approx 4.30pm so we went over in force but no joy. Another possible sighting this morning in fields next to stanwick lakes. All these fields are linked even though they spread miles so it's all very feasible. But sadly no news yet. No bad news either so we are staying positive. Her owner Lisa Caven-Quantrill is out every day all day looking.

Owner: Now would be a good time to contact local media, she could be anywhere if on the move, so would be a valuable way to notify Somerset & Dorset.
