Oh yes I remember the night search for Summer the abandoned GSD really well although I have to confess I had forgotten how deep the muddy trenches were - last night reminded me!!
It was a good outcome for Summer so now we need a good result for little EddieLast edited: 2017-02-27 15:31:00 by LYDNSYD

Thanks LYNSYD. I remember doing a night search for Summer, the GSD a few years back. Think you were there too. Here's hoping Eddie is back soon

Alfie was found in the main car park at Sulham Woods I think around 6pm - he was close to the blanket his owners had left for scent. He was covered in Ticks but seemed in good health considering all he had been through & by all accounts there were over 100 of the beasts - he has also lost 1 stone in weight poor guy. Quite a few of us turned up to help search for Eddie - it was pitch black which made things difficult - sadly we didn't find him. His owners were going to stay in the car overnight to see if Eddie would emerge but sadly there have been no sightings of him either last night or today ...it is very worrying! His owners must be exhausted Last edited: 2017-02-27 14:37:29 by LYDNSYD

I saw a video online of how to find a dog lost in woods. Take some dirty clothes of yours and their pet blanket if you have one. Take a box and leave where you originally lost them. They normally go back to where they last saw you at some point and thet will smell your scent and should stay by the clothes. Leave water, they'll need it and some food. Come and check regularly, every couple of hours if you can. It's widely used apparently and always works. I'm gonna put them, and you, on my prayer list.

I am one of the regular dog walkers at Sulham Woods and I'm pleased to be able to tell you that just about every dog walker there is on the lookout for Eddie and Alfie. I have even had people, who have seen my Facebook posts, ask if they have been found. This is great as it means there are many, many people looking out for them. Hopefully, they'll be home soon Last edited: 2017-02-24 20:40:26 by Joe Fish

Thanks for all your help and input. I have handed out/posted lots of posters today and talked to a massive amount of people who have been very sympathetic.
A couple of sightings of Eddie and Alfie today but sadly no one got close enough to catch them, I guess they are pretty on edge. Perhaps carrying some dog treats would help (but who carries them on a day to day basis?)
First sighting at the bottom of Overdown Road towards the Oxford Road/ Tilehurst Station.

Second sighting at 4.30/5pm Eddie and Alfie or similar seen in Sulham Woods off Little Heath Road in the grassy area between the two bits of woodland
We went to check both out but the later one had to leave as completely dark at 6.30pm
Any help on top of the massive support from the regular Sulham dog walkers would be hugely appreciated

Given that there are a number of food outlets at that end of Overtown Rd (bottom of Kentwood Hill), could they have been lured there by their hunger and is it worth asking the shop keepers to check cctv? They may have been holing up there overnigh and were disturbed this morning Just a thoughtLast edited: 2017-02-24 15:10:27 by Joe Fish

Eddie and Alfie seen 11.00am Reading end of overdowm rd we are searching the area and sticking up pictures is both dogs
Mary
If Admin swaps the top photo for the Extra Image and changes name to Alfie missing with Eddie you should be able to print one poster with both dogs on.
LYDNSYD
Is there any way of printing off posters with BOTH dogs on one poster please
LYDNSYD
If it was Alfie & Eddie at Beech Road - they may return back into the woods - if they do I'm pretty sure they will be spotted as LOTS of dog walkers are now aware that they are missing. I put a Poster up at Beech Road Entrance yesterday & also one at Susie's Gate. The Albion sighting - I think there might be a terrier type dog that roams freely in that area but then again it could be Alfie or Eddie so I guess can't be discounted just in case. Have you put up LOTS of POSTERS as POSTER POWER really does work. Has the Sulham Woods Main Car Park been Postered? I am going to hand in a Poster to Pangbourne Vets today & will put up a few more posters in the woods. Is there anywhere else you need posters putting up? So hoping you get more sightings.

Received further phone call 23/02 to say that there was a possible sighting of dog similar to Alfie (White with Brown face) by the Albion Pub Oxford Road Reading RG30 1HP, last seen walking in direction of Pangbourne Went with group of friends to investigate, walked up and down Oxford Road (very busy) from Waitress to near Reading Central but no luck. Also drove around towards Pangbourne and down Portman Road.
Alfie and Eddie have often been walked by the river at Purley but usually in the other direction to Reading.
Will go out again in the morning if anyone can help I would be so grateful.
Sue H
Received message to say that dogs similar in description to Alfie & Eddie had run out in front of persons car 22/02 on the Pangbourne Road Reading RG8 then ran on up Beech Road RG8 8DR

I've put Posters up in Sulham Wooods by Susie's Gate & also at entrance to woods at Beech Road. If they have moved further away - Would be a good idea to had in posters to the Greyhound Pub and the Farm Shop. I will hand a poster into Valley Vets (Pangbourne) Has the Microchip company been advised they are missing. What direction did they run off chasing the deer?
