A vets in Bexhill has contacted the family who are on their way to see if it's him right now.Last edited: 2017-02-18 15:15:24 by Lisa

Someone on Facebook has confirmed that they saw Duke yesterday on the A21 outside the property he went missing from, just after 12:30 and that he was picked up by another car. Unfortunately no one knocked on any of the nearby properties to see if he belonged there.
Lisa
The property he went missing from is right next to the main A21 road, on the hill just before the roundabout leading into Robertsbridge.Last edited: 2017-02-18 14:05:59 by Lisa

Louise is the owner. The contact details on the poster are hers.

Thanks TK.
Sorry to hear that Duke is missing. I've sent you our Doglost advice by email. Would someone confirm who is Duke's owner please? Is that you Lisa or/and Louise? Just need to be sure that I have sent the emails to the right person!

I would suggest that you get as many posters up as possible so that people in the area know that Duke is lost. It's possible someone has taken him in and that they do not realise that our Dog Wardens work at weeekends (01424 490034)
Posters are the very best way of getting sightings reported to you so are very, very important.
Put in as many places as possible where a lot of people will see them such as entrances to footpaths, car parks by woods, Blackbrooks garden centre, local pubs/shops, postmen/deliver people, bus stops, railway station etc. There can never be enough posters.
I agree with TK that you should alert Network Rail (they have a special page to report animals near to railways) and also the local Highways Dept.
If Duke's owner heard the traffic slow down it could be possible that Duke was picked up or that he got a scare and ran off somewhere nearby. Dogs that do this would normally hide out for a while and then try to make their way home (when quiet at dusk or dawn)
Would you give us a slightly better idea of whereabouts on Silverhill Duke went missing from please such as nearest junction/road off A21?
Please keep us updated as to where you have searched and postered so others can cover different areas for you. Best of luck to you.

HI, sorry to hear there is still no news. Have texted local Co Ordinator as she hasnt seen my tag on fb yet.
If he wandered off, am sure owners have searched & searched but check all outbuildings etc, A21 is such a busy road, hoping he didnt get out on road. Might be worth letting Network rail know, as the railway isn't that far away, just in case he has gone that way, they are usually very helpful and will keep a look out if reported to them. Need to get word all over fb in case he has been picked up & taken out of area.
Lisa
Contacted K9tracker this morning. Waiting to hear.
Thanks for the tip.
Louise
Unfortunately not. We're so desperate to find him!

Hi TK,
Thank you for your feedback.
As far as I know they have contacted the microchip company.
The family searched all the areas around the garden, including surrounding fields.
Hopefully he did just get curious and went exploring, but the owner, who was working outside at the time Duke went missing, thought he heard the traffic along the road slow down at one point. He believes this might be when Duke was picked up.

Thank you so much for your advice.
Will keep you posted.

Hi Lisa, That's great that the family have alerted the dog wardens, and local vets.
If they haven't already done so, ask them to contact the microchip company & register him as lost, and check that the contact details the company have are up to date. Is it likely he might have got out the garden somehow? have neighbours been alerted & need to check all sheds, outbuildings in area in case he has got locked in somewhere. Also are there any ponds, areas of water that he may have got into? If he has got out he may try and find his way back home, usually when all is quiet, early hours of morning, ensure that he has access to get back into the garden if he should try to make his way home. Leave an item of his bedding out in garden so there is a familiar item if he does come home.
If you are thinking he has been taken, it might be as innocent as someone finding him just out on road & they have taken him to keep him safe, they hopefully would take him to a vets to get checked for a chip, but sometimes if it is someone passing through area, they may take to area back where they live, so important to check that chip details are up to date.
If he has been stolen out of garden the most important thing is to spread the word he is missing & make him too hot to handle, shares on social media, tweets, posters up in local area, if you do believe he has been stolen, let police know & get a crime ref number. Do you have any further info or whether he has got out before? Have tagged local Area Coordinator on fb, so hoping she may be able to give mor help & advice. everything crossed he is soon found.

Thank you so much everyone. The family really appreciate all the support.
They have contacted the Rother District, Weald and Hastings Wardens as well as the local vets.
Is there anything else they can do?Last edited: 2017-02-17 22:21:32 by Lisa
