  • Other Info We know that she/he is in the Wythenshawe area, around Woodhouse Lane, Benchill Road, Holly Hedge Road and Overtan Road. We just cannot catch her as she is street savvy and very scared of humans, so if you try to chase her she will run off, and will probably leave the area all together. The warden's have tried to catch her but no luck. We are in the process of getting a expert dog catch to put a trap down, but we just need to know where the best place would be to put it. So a poster has been put on the

Must be so frustrating. Hope you have better luck this time.

Ray did come a few weeks ago, but he didn't get back to me to tell me how it went. I have tried to call him quite a few times and send text messages, and left a voice message, but he hasn't got back to me. After, he had been she hadn't been sighted for awhile, so we thought he had caught her, but he hadn't as she has now been sighted again and we are following this lead with someone else, who is coming down today. :)
Georgy Porgy
Can Ray help again?
Muscidamyst
Yes, we are in touch with people by phone who have seen her and we are keeping a track of her.

Just an update....a few days ago I was walking around Wythenshawe knocking on doors, showing people the picture above asking if anyone had seen this dog, no one had. I was about to give up when I spoke to a few people on the street who took my mobile no. and said they would call if they saw he/she. The last person I spoke too, got so excited and said the dog was on her road right now! She took me to her road and the house where she had seen the dog sleeping. I was so emotional when I saw he/she curled up under the bush in the garden and I do think it is my Ria, but still can't say for sure. The people who lived in the house wasn't home, but the lady who was with me told me they got home about 4.30-5.00, so I sat in my car and waited the two hours. When they got home I spoke to the owner, a lovely lady who said it would be okay for Ray to put the trap in her garden, and that the dog had been sleeping there for awhile. I can't tell you how wondeful it is to see Ria again, (if it is her) and I am hoping that Ray will be able to catch her soon, but I know he has been very busy trying to catch over dogs, who are just as important to their owners as Ria is to me. Thank you for all your support on here. Will keep you updated.
Hollieberry
Keeping my fingers tightly crossed ,please keep updating .
Muscidamyst
I have seen her/him and Ray is in the process of trying to catch her.
Hollieberry
How are things going with this one please ?
allimac
Hope s/he is caught soon.
Muscidamyst
The reason I have asked the people of Wythenshawe not to feed her, is because there are so many rubbish bags on the floor in the area that she can get a meal from, so if she is eating from them and the people she will not be hungry. If you look at the pictures you can see that she is quite well fed.
RAYDEDICOAT
HI, Once again when i know which day i can get up to this dog, i only want the dog to go without one or possibly two meals, or even half rations,But its got to be HUNGRY.. I am led to believe a feeding pattern is in place..will keep you posted Ray.
Georgy Porgy
Please do keep feeding this dog. I think 4 or 5 days before Ray can help is too long to leave without food anyway.
mazholenk
I also agree with Bobbie. Feeding them in the same area, keeps the dog hanging around as it knows it will have a meal waiting for it. I also agree with hollieberry, the other sighted dog (spaniel) stayed in the same area for days as it was getting fed, but when the people where told to stop feeding it, it disappeared and has not been seen since, god forbid it is ok, as it was unwell looking when seen. Hope there is a good outcome for this one and it is caught safely
Hollieberry
I must say I agree with Bobble ,another dog in this situation on Doglost disappeared when it was stopped being fed and has not been seen since so very sad. Really hope that this one can be brought to safety .

Looks GSD cross to me....

It would be be better to set up a feeding station - where you want to put the trap, keep her in the area. If in a garden can she not be shut in or tempted into a shed with food?

Good luck

Everything crossed this lovely dog can soon be caught and brought to safety - I am following progress well done Muscidamyst and have everything crossed for early next week. J. x

An update on this lovely dog..... I have been talking to the lovely people on Wythenshawe 1 FB page this morning, who have seen her/him today on Woodhouse Lane and Longhey Road. He/she is sleeping in a garden and have informed Ray today where that is, he said he will be coming either Monday or Tuesday of next week...we have asked the lovely people of Wythenshawe not to feed her and not to try and catch her so, one, she will be hungry and go for the food in the trap, and two that she won't be scared off and move somewhere else. Keeping fingers crossed that it will all work out.Last edited: 2017-02-16 12:00:29 by Muscidamyst

Yes, Hollieberry, I am hoping Ray will get back to me soon and I hope people will read the info above on her/him that they will not chase her because if it is my dog Ria, that is what happened before. She was close by us...across the road in a wooded area, but some people chased her and she ran for it, and that is why we have been looking for her for so long as we didn't know where she had gone.Last edited: 2017-02-15 13:45:07 by Muscidamyst
Hollieberry
I hope Ray gets back to you,in the meantime it is important that the dog is not chased you do not want it to leave the area .
Muscidamyst
Hollieberry... Yes, as state in the info above, I have been in touch with Ray Dedicoat who has a talent for catching strays, but he needs more info on her routine of straying to be able to put a trap down. I have been in touch also with people from Wythenshawe who have seen her and it seems she is mostly seen on Woodhouse Lane, so I have told Ray and waiting now for him to get back to me.
I have also tried to get in touch with the Dog Warden who has been trying to catch her (that is of course, if this is my dog Ria,as I was told on a FB thread that the Dog Warden had confirmed that it was a male)....for the past two years, I am waiting for the Dog Warden to get back to me with any info they have that might help.Last edited: 2017-02-15 11:19:00 by Muscidamyst

Should this dog have gender showing as female spayed when it is not known ,it may stop an owner from finding it .

I hope all ends well for this dog and someone is able to trap it. Is anyone feeding the dog to keep it in the area ?
Muscidamyst
He/She, has also been put on Wythenshawe 1 Fb page as they are the ones that reported her being in the area. Trying to find out her routine to be able to know where to set a trap.
