Absolutely nothing has come back form Pevensey Bay. No suprises there. She has been in the local freebie paper again this last weekend and had a couple of calls. One was a found JRT (turned out to be a local dog to Goudhurst where she was found) and the other a lady who had seen a white and tan JRT on the A21 on the eve of Sept 4 at Hurst Green. She tried to catch the dog but she ran under a gate into someones drive so she assumed that the dog had gone home. Might have been Fern but the owners of the house have no JRT and were not aware that she had gone up their drive. That lead is a bit old now and seems to have gone cold.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It only needs that one pair of eyes. Long shots are always worth it xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Went to Pevensy Bay on Tuesday and stuck up posters all over the place. Also in the big Asda by Sovereign Harbour. No-one has seen her but the lady in the tourist information centre said the car park is very busy at the weekendwith people in from all over the area. She has put up posters in her windows so here's hoping. Think it is a bit of a long shot but still....!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

In email from owner]]]] Had one more call this evening from a couple in Pevensey Bay who thought they had seen Fern out for a walk on a lead down on the beach. They were an elderly couple who had seen Fern in the Friday Ad. Seems like a long shot but I will try and get down there tomorrow to stick up some more posters. Anything is worth a try. ANY HELPERS please post here if you put any posters up. Thanks CJ Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Almost 2 weeks and not a sign of her. I have manged to get a piece in the Battle and Rye Observer and also ads in the Friday Ad free paper . Fern will be in all editions printed from Uckfield to Ashford and from Hastings to Sevenoaks. Next week she is in again plus the Wealden advertiser. I have to admit to starting to lose all hope....it is soul destroying holding distraught children every evening and then going downstairs to a labrador who is sitting in Fern's basket with huge sad eyes.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Followed up the notice in Hawkhurst but no joy. It is for a JRT dog who was found about 3 months ago and has had his photo on Doglost but nobody has claimed him. The guy who found him has given him a home (after being in kennels) but is still trying to find his owners. Checked all the hedgerows round here again at the weekend but not a thing. Its almost as if Fern never exsisted.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Seem to have spent the whole week putting up posters and handing out leaflets, having good days and bad. Had 2 responses so far. One was a sighting of a white JRT about 4 miles away with a full tail. I went up to Brightling to follow it up but it would appear that the dog had more tan markings on it and was also short and stocky. I have since found out that there is one that lives up there that is always escaping so no joy there. The second response was to say that there was an ad in the Post Office on the Moor at Hawkhurst to say a Jack Russell had been found but no further details. I am trying to get hold of the people now but I don't hold out too much hope. Will let you know!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It was Oxo that went missing from the camp site Bodiam nr roberstbridge. henry and Krug went missing from secure garden in Hurst green. All are very close. I have asked onwers to make contact as they are in the same situation. it might be worth putting posters of all 4 dogs together as this would make a greater impact. Any where there is a large enough board. You could also put on in front garden- if you have one as again 4 poster together would make people stop and read.CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Fern well. Stay safe little lady, until you are found x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your message Zoe. Had already thought of Redlands Lane but using either the Dog Warden or Travellers liason officer seems like a good idea. Will be doing the rounds tomorrow with the poster...thought the Vets,Station, pubs, shops etc but hadn't thought of the farm shops. Be worth a try. I will be in touch with Krug & Freddies owner when I know I can talk on the phone without falling to bits!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have received my poster - i can't believe that there is yet another JR missing from Robertsbridge!!!! I am not sure if she escaped of was stolen but if it was the latter then I'm sorry to say that the traveller site in Redlands Lane should be first port of call - perhaps the local dog warden or traveller liason officer could make a visit....mentioning the reward and scan the dogs there.....especially with Krug & Freddie missing from Robertsbridge too (although i don't think that they were chipped)....may be worth Ferns owner liasing with Krug/Freddies owner! It may be worth ping into conversation that she is neutered as she will not be nearly as attractive to them if she is!I will forward Ferns poster to all my contacts in the area - may be worth postering the farm shop on the A21 at Hurst Green, the local schools, pubs, the railway station and the local shops. Good luck in your search for Fern and i have everything crossed that she turns up safe and well. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have now emailed photo of Fern. She has NEVER gone missing before and it is TOTALLY out of character. She is an Aga loving girl who will always seek a scratch behind the ear. We really need to find her as I have 3 distraught children and two very sad other dogs. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
