He's been sighted this morning, looking quite good, considering. By the time rescue and owner arrived he'd moved on but I think they have an idea where he's hanging out. Let's hope he's soon home.
Hollieberry
How long is this poor dog going to be left to fend for himself ? I agree with Nina someone has to do something why is the owner & rescue refusing the help offered ? the dogs welfare has to come first .
Ginag287
There's a thread on facebook saying this dog was spotted in the pulley lane area yesterday. Don't know whether this dog was confused with another dog lost in that area which was captured on Sunday. Don't want to cross wires or send anyone on a wild goose chase...,
DogLostNina
I haven't been on this page for a day or two and cant believe it looks to me like we are no further forward with Harrys plight...am I wrong. If I am right PLEASE somebody make some desicions about the way forward to get Harry home.
Hollieberry
RAYDEDICOAT please help this dog the days are going fast Harry has been out there too long now .
HelenCh
Thanks Ray. I hope owner Jacqueline will decide to contact you. There are no posts from DW since yesterday so if anyone sees Harry the original contact number for owner was 07533755932 No point ringing council at weekend

Hi,What on earth is all the fuss about? a properly sized, and 100% Watched humane trap can save so much heartache for both dog and rescuer!!. Ive always worked on the the fact that after 48hrs our much loved, loyal, trusting, friendly, faithful, companion for x amount of years goes into what a lot of people know as SURVIVAL MODE. and i,ve seen people absolutley devastated by the sight of their mate bolting away from them.. Take it from me TIME is of the essence!!!. they only get worse and into all sorts of trouble. After a couple of days hunger takes over and with good people who hate wasting food a pattern forms in a lot of households whereby the food is put out for foxes, hedgehogs, and birds.Look how many people sit in cars outside Macdonalds and throw the papers and bones away.In survival mode they find all this stuff and live from day to day. And good food is the key to 8 out of 10 re-uniteds, and this i find becomes a game of PHSYCOLOGICAL warfare. My rules begin with no talking or looking at the target, set trap up on the dogs safe route, cos they usually stick to a route they can run safely, leave the trap for a few hours locked open to give dog confidence..Bigger the trap the better, do a drag trail to and from the trap. get out of sight of dog but have a clear view of trap. Now here is the reason I prefer to use a cage trap, NO ONE chases the animal into trap NO ONE has demanded the dog to go into trap,Its all down to the dogs greed and need which eventually leads to him or her becoming TRAPPED, I ALWAYS leave the animal in the trap to let it realize it is stuck..No matter how long you leave them they CANNOT hurt themselves.. and after a few minutes we sit and talk softly to them and they soon realize we are helping them. and all fear turns to TRUST.. so please accept that used properly TRAPPING is by far the quickest and the most efficient way of solving what is becoming a really upsetting situation... and with these fireworks, it is only going to get worse..enough doom and gloom when these dogs are caught they soon show how greatfull they are and make superb friends.
Hollieberry
Harry must be so scared now as I guess people have been chasing him adding to his fear of humans. Why is the owner or the rescue delaying setting up a food station or trap with the help of someone who knows what they are doing ? Surely the dogs safety & welfare should be priority.
HelenCh
I agree with you so much Nina and Hollieberry, I was the first to suggest Ray, and he's asked me what's going on. The owner hasn't contacted him. DW has taken over. She is anti-trap. And someone met be against calling Ray, which I doubt the wisdom of. He would have caught Harry by now. I don't want to fall out with anyone but I think DW is wrong. Let her prove me wrong. I hope so.
Hollieberry
I agree with Nina ,this poor frightened dog needs help quickly not by well meaning people but people with expertise .The longer this dog is left the harder it will be.

Ring Ray Dedicoat.

Staff from the rescue have been out many times but not sighted Harry. It's a very busy area and I fear for his safety. The owners husband has seen him but he wouldn't go to him.Poor little thing. I do hopees caught soon. I mentioned a trap to the owner but nothing has been done on this. What else can you do?
DogLostNina
With the weather forecast looking like its going to get much colder descisions have got to be made soon
Hollieberry
I don't do FB HelenCH I understand that leaving food & water will keep Harry in the area until he his scared away by good meaning people who are trying to catch (Please people do not chase Harry away) The longer this dog lives like this the harder it will be .Harry needs expertise from someone who knows what they are doing Ray Dedicoat or similar person know what they are doing why has no one contacted him.Is the rescue he came from able to help .
HelenCh
The DW says on FB leaving food/water
Hollieberry
OH ! who is putting the food down for him if he has a feeding spot then surely that would be a good place to set a trap ?
HelenCh
DW states she will not use a trap (or a pole), has she got time...
Hollieberry
Poor Harry why is a trap not suitable if a feeding station has been set up ? I hope he isent going to be another dog that people stop looking for.
HelenCh
There are very mixed messages in this story on FB with people willing to help, the idea of a trap is rejected by DW and although many suggested Ray Dedicoat he has still not been called in. With respect the DW can't be there for extended periods. He's been lost 18 days. Feel very sorry for him. Last edited: 2016-11-16 20:23:06 by HelenCh

Thank you, just also had same info on FB. I'm going to ask for some standard search tips from a friend.

Helen: I've googled and found him on a rescue page. If you have a look - he was rehomed by a kennels (Hillbrae) in Telford, Shropshire so won't know the area of Shrewsbury very well.
