  • Other Info I'm a doglost helper and today we sighted on the field a small light brown young deer which appeared to be limping. I don't know the type of deer Couldn't get near to it and no rescuers (RSPCA / Trent Park/Enfield Wildlife) can come out unless the animal can be contained. It disappeared into the hedgerows and we couldn't see where it went. Can this be posted in the hope that local volunteers/helpers can give advice and, if possible, help to find and contain it? If so my number ca

perhaps ask league against cruel sports for advice - but of course no one in office til monday. of all the animals to try and help deer are the most difficult so so panicky and often die of heart attack thro fear. try nationwide wildlife rescues - at least they will have advice. if animal is cornered - if pigs could fly - possible vet would come and shoot with tranquiliser - but you would have to plan ahead what to do if you can get it.

I did speak to Wildlife Aid, unfortunately too far away to help. They did check for me for any available help nearer without success. We have looked again today but no sightings, so may still be lying low or moved on. Although limping a bit yesterday it didn't appear to be too serious, so will look again and check for any reported sightings from local area communities.

Thanks for all the comments. Just waiting now on a call back for any help/advice.

Patlucky rspca do have wildlife officers! Usually they are exceptionally busy as you would imagine! Hard to.contain an injured deer if it is still able to walk! Suspect this is a Muntjac and do get stressed if contained and don't fare well.

RSPCA is useless! Sorry to say that so publicly, but the amount of times I have phoned them for help for either injured wildlife or a distressed pet ... they never came out :( Deer do recover from leg fractures though, particularly as they have no predators in this country.
