How very , very tragic. If only...... Nightie, night Fenton, sleep tight, and have fun at the bridge with your pals RIP+ God Blessx A~~~Candle~~~burns for you You were such a handosme lad

I am sure that Fenton is looking down on Hearing dogs, and helping from above with the help of the Angels. I am a supporter of Hearing dogs after I lost most of my hearing due to a bad easr infection which lasted for three weeks. You realize then how lucky you are. And I think all working dogs play a fantastic role in some people`s lives. I am happy to be a supporter

Such very sad news for everyone involved
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
This has been one of the most heart breaking stories I have been involved in. We were just so close to bringing Fenton home with a trap set after seeing Fenton with night vision goggles in a rabbit run where Tiga tracked to.
It has been a few days before Hearing Dogs have been able to break the story due to us all being so very sad.
Fenton you stole so many hearts over the weeks and it is like I have lost one of my own dogs.
I must thank Hearing Dogs for there huge huge relentless effort to bring Fenton home safely in what has been a very very difficult situation.
Run free Fenton as I am sure you will.

Sorry to see this devastating news "Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is sad to report that our missing hearing dog in-training, Fenton, has been found dead near Chinnor, Oxfordshire. The two year old male spaniel disappeared in late August whilst on a walk, and despite several sightings it appears he was hit by a car and died of his injuries.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People Chief Executive, Michele Jennings said, "We are terribly saddened by the loss of Fenton and in particular, my thoughts are with the volunteers who had such an important part in his upbringing, and his trainers at the charity, who worked so closely with him. Hearing Dogs are a lifeline to the deaf children and adults they are partnered with, and the effort that goes into the training them is extraordinary. Fenton had great potential, and so his loss is very significant."Last edited: 2016-09-29 18:05:56 by Bo

Brilliant thanks Mary. Hoping for good news soon x

I have an update from the Welfare Team at Hearing Dogs.

Thank you so much for your kind offer of help. We are in a good place with our search for Fenton and know exactly where he is. He is safe and eating well and using a disused badger set for shelter but unfortunately he hasn't gained enough confidence to come out yet to the people that know and love him. This is very common in situations such as these and we are confident that we will bring him home safely very soon.
We hope to be able to bring you all the good news that he is back safe and sound very soon.

Thank you again

I have been in close contact with Hearing Dogs who are working very hard to find Fenton asap. There have been sightings in the area he was lost & many staff are searching on a rota basis. There is a feeding station & camera set up. Hoping for good news soon.
LindaT
Not easy to help if there is no information for local volunteers :-( I was driving out of Chinnor about 3 days ago and spotted what looked like a young black cocker spaniel jumping about in the back of a black range rover, but without any info. on the possible sightings mentioned a few days ago I had to assume the dog belonged to the driver seeing as there was a dog-guard in place. I was speaking to a friend yesterday who lives in Crowell and she asked me if there was any news as she had heard nothing either.Last edited: 2016-09-05 17:00:16 by LindaT

https://www.hearingdogs.org.uk/about/ they have a website which has no mention of this missing dog. The lack of information from them - if this dog is still in trouble and needing help - is astounding. So many people have been willing to help and search but they've provided no location details or search activity updates.

Is anyone from Hearing Dogs monitoring this thread, it would be good if we had an idea where the sightings have been?
Ellie
Any news yet?
LindaT
Would be good to know where sightings are as I am always walking in various places between Chinnor and Bradenham and further afield. Hope this poor dog stays safe.
lesleyjane

Two sightings reported this morning - it seems that Fenton is running scared - if anyone sees him please report immediately on the numbers above - please do not chase or try to catch him, watch from a distance if possible to see where he goes x
Esther
I do hope he turns up ok. Too far away to help but wishing you all the best.

Shared on FB, not far from me and have friends in Chinnor itself. 3 days now, hope he is safe.

Have emailed a friend living in Crowell and asked her to share this; I do hope the dog hasn`t gone down into the old cement works, there are still deep lakes there, backing onto Crowell. Will keep a close eye out, I have seen a poster in the garage in Chinnor already. It would be a good plan to poster in the Old Kiln Lakes housing estate too.

Really glad he has now been listed on Doglost. Have shared him locally. Not heard of any sightings so far?
