Hello, just had a look at the site. Beaulieu to MK18 is 111 miles. If it is Gena, perhaps a visitor to the New Forest may have found her and she escaped? We will liaise with the local Dog Warden to see if there have been any stray Pomeranians taken in. Neil & Rachel.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

please look on hemelonline.co.uk as under lost pets an orange pom was seen running loose, I know it is a distance away but we all know how far these "lost" dogs can travel, good luck xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

New Forest Dog Warden Service
The Dog Warden Service has never stopped looking for Gena, we have brought our traps in due to no confirmed sightings of her due to the traps needing to be checked several times a day but we are still patrolling in the area on a daily basis where she was last seen. We are of the opinion that perhaps somebody found her and for whatever reason have decided to keep her? If this has occurred she will at least be safe but even if the finder is acting in good faith, Gena has been stolen by the person. This is why it is of extreme important that finders of dogs call the police or the local council to report finding them, as they may have a report of the dog being missing? The local newspaper, the Lymington Times has an article in today's edition about Gena on page 10 with a photograph and a request from her owner if somebody has got her to return her via the Dog Warden Service. we thought there may have been a sighting yesterday in the Beaulieu area but it was a wire haired Terrier wearing a red harness! We never give up looking for missing dogs in our area but we need a sighting or report that somebody may have her, if information is received that somebody may have her in a house, we will attend with the police to get her back. Teddy found - is there any more news on Gina? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Everybody, the dog at Norleywood was not Gina, David her owner received information that it was not her, maybe it was a stray dog from one of the cottages? The trap has been moved from Norleywood back to Roundhill Campsite. After the news article in the local paper, a member of the public rang to say they thought they had seen the dog trap in the back of a car at the New Forest Car Boot Sale held at the Strawberry Fields near Boldre on the A337, this was before it had appeared in the newspaper. The search for Gina continues. Neil & Rachel Dog WardensLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good article and pic in the Lymington Times via Dog Warden - so most tourists will know about Gina - all the local 'dog' people I have spoken to already know about her. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello, David the owner had a call that Gena was seen in the hamlet of Norleywood on the road at approximately 2.30pm on the 14th August 2007. A lady saw Gena standing in the road and as she approached her a horsebox came down the road and scared Gena who ran off into Norleywood Inclosure. David searched the area until dusk but unfortunately did not see her. the Dog Warden Service will continue to search for her with David. The person who saw Gena did not call the Dog Wardens, we were approximately 2 miles away at the time, instead she left a message with David who unfortunately did not get it until four hours later. Also maybe print out smaller copies and hand them out to walkers and campers atleast people have the number on them at all times then so David would get the call much quicker. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Everyone, Gena was spotted on Saturday 11th august next to the water tower in Roundhill Campsite by a camper. She was looking for food but ran off. David her owner and the Dog Wardens have now moved the trap to the water tower and will search in this area now. It had gone quiet but thankfully an alert member of the public saw her. David visited the camper and took some photos of Gena, the camper confirmed that the dog seen was Gena!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello, the Dog Warden Service asked the council PR department to send out a press release about Gena and the theft of the trap. They sent the press release out last night and The Daily Echo which covers Southampton, New Forest, Romsey Winchester and adjacent areas has called asking to speak to David the owner for more details about Gena and the Lymington Times that covers the whole of the New Forest and Christchurch areas has been on for more information. Hello everyone. We are still searching for Gena with our colleagues from the Forestry Commission. Unfortunately a thief or thieves have stolen one of our traps that was chained to a tree trunk. The gamekeeper thinks that poachers may have stolen it after they saw it when they were up to no good out on the forest last night. It is a bit of a setback but we will continue our search for Gena, David her owner said that this has left him feeling deflated, we told him that it makes us more determined to find her. We are not going to let any thief interfere with our work! I am going to write an article and send it to K9 Magazine. Neil & Rachel Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello, we have moved our second dog trap to a new ocation on the old airfield perimeter track almost opposite Roundhill Campsite. The first trap we moved to the location that David thought he saw her yesterday had malfunctioned and the food had been taken, we have reset it and hope that it was Gena and not the Fox we saw the other day when we were looking for her? If it was Gena hopefully she will return as she has now found a food source. The trap is a pressure one, the dog walks in to grab the food and the door closes. We are doing everything possible to search the area for Gena and the traps are checked 3 times a day. The terrain is fairly difficult as away from the roads and tracks it is basically pony trails across the heather and gorse with lots of undulating ground. We have been out this morning and moved a trap to where the last possible sighting was, David thinks he may have seen her in the distance last night. For those out looking if you were to stand on top of the large sand hill between Beaulieu Heath and Crockford car park and look towards Crockford there is a large group of bushes in a north east direction full of Holly etc we think she is possibly in that direction beyond is Roundhill campsite, they are aware and have posters etc and get a visit from us every now an then to drive the tracks and up to Dilton Common. Pilly and Boldre are the nearest possible villages so keep an eye out there too, seen the posters up there, good work. We had no luck this morning did see a small fox in the area so if you have a possible sighting please ensure it is not the fox you have seen! The sandhill is the best view point by far.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Keelah Just spotted your posted message @ 19:59 - 6/8/2007 on lost orange Pomeranian Bitch in South East (SO42) named Gena. Please find attached another photo I scanned for Dave owner Pomeranian of Gena last evening showing his other dog Grace a Papillon in his arms with Gena. (As Dave is not into the Internet / PCs I have been trying to help with this and provide him with the messages from your site, which I am sure must be keeping his spirits up). Dave is a really quiet humble chap (he's the gardener for a local 4-star hotel in the New Forest) and my partner & I bumped into him earlier this week while we were walking in the New Forest and we felt very sorry for him. Needless to say he is very upset. We met with him again this afternoon and gave him a pile of posters I knocked up last night (did not realise your site does this) but I have printed doglost.co.uk all over them as well as his telephone number. He looked very exhausted since he's out in the New Forest from about 5:30 am to 9 am every morning when he then has to do his gardening job, then when he finishes work at about 5 pm he's straight back out into the New Forest until it gets too dark at about 9.30 pm and of course he's been out all the time at the weekend. I sent an email last night to the local newspaper Southern Echo but they have not picked up on it and maybe you could use your PR skills to give them a nudge. Further more as Grace is so visual it would be stunning if you could get some local TV coverage but I have no idea if that is possible. If there's anything I can do to help please advise. Kind Regards Ian Jones .............e mail from helperLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

have we had media on this one? do we need media? New Forest Dog Warden, would you be prepared to help with this - sometimes a press release from the local authority re a dog their dog warden is trying to catch goes down well. Let me know if I can help. sian (07843 681980)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog is ok with other dogs she lives with a papillon who is really missing her. But she is genrally scared of everything, and on owners last sighting ran away from him and the papillon. She is unlikely to come up to people unless injured etc and can be snappy so please be careful on approach if you see her. The dog is called Gina.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have been working closelywith the owners on this one. Flapper yours was the last sighting and we went down there as soon as your report came in. We have followed up a few leads but no luck i'm afraid. We have been to the local campsites and isolated hamlets and driven the forestry commission tracks across the forest. Owner has put posters up in the area and they have gone to local campsites etc. The areas new forest keeper is aware as well as NFDog so lots of eyes and ears out there. We have also set up a trap on the edge of the car park as the owner said she normally comes back to the car and this is where he last saw her about 2hrs before flapper, unfortunatly she ran off again. She is very nervous and tends to keep away from people so the trap is proberbly our best option. Any sightings please call us asap so we can get down there with the owner and equipment to help contain her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I spotted this dog out at Beaulieu Heath on the 1st August near to where they fly the model airoplanes, it was resting in the heath but as soon as it spotted us it ran off away from the road, I did report it to the New Forest Dog Warden. We'll be up there again at the weekend so I'll put some posters up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As soon as Admin receives a photograph, the poster will be emailed out to helpers. Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Pomeranion well. Stay safe little one until you are found x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
