dog found in a ditch now at vets in Hitchin Herts, no name of vet on post. The dog looks brown /reddish/fawn and really dirty, riddled with fleas and matted fur. "I work on reception at a vets in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. a couple brought in a Cockerpoo they found in a ditch. Female. Reddish fawn colour. No collar or micro chip. She was totally matted with burs and riddled with fleas but not really under weight. She seemed a bit traumatised but was so good letting a vet and nurse clip all the maths out. Cannot believe such a lovely natured dog is not someone's beloved pet. Vet is guessing maybe 4 years old. Have looked on lost dog . Co. UK but can only see chipped dogs on there. Possibly stolen on passed could be from anywhere

UPDATE - The dog continues to do well but is very fearful. She is a sweet nature though and has not shown any aggression despite being very scared. The vets think she has been in a bad place for a long time, and not well treated. She is safe and well for now while they continue to look after her and decide the next steps.

DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
There have been a 2 sightings of dogs who look like Maggie on leads with 'owners' one in Terriers and one in Desborough Road (looked reluctant to walk). We'd like to rule these dogs asap. Does anyone know them? Also another possible sighting last Saturday on The Pastures. Please keep looking out for Maggie x

Time for Media coverage she has been missing too long. If no sightings someone must have her and not reported x
sarap3038
I have been out again today. Parked in the Pastures Service Road, went down Middlebrook Road, along Southfield Road and Malvern close and back up Cotswold Way. Searched undergrowth as best I could, just in case she is hiding up in there. Amazing how long that takes!! Again everyone I spoke to is aware xxx
Gemma
Thats great thanks x

I live in Littleworth Road and am keeping look out when taking my dog for a walk on the Common. Have also put a poster in my window (although not colour) hoping someone will see her. X

Checked garden & garage yesterday. Spoke with the Lady of the house she is aware of Maggie and is keeping her eye out for her.
Also checked the fields & undergrowth no sign yet
Have added to the posters already put up and spoke with many locals who are all looking for her.
sarap3038
Just got back form nearly 2 hours mainly searching the undergrowth on the south eastern triangle of the fields off Middlebrook Road, plus further up the northern boundary. Asked the guys cutting grass (they are on the field later) to keep their eyes open in case they spook her out (!) and everyone I spoke to already knew so the posters are doing their job. Spent a little bit of time looking up and down Middlebrook, and had a look at the plastic covered house as there is no sign of life/garden open/ garage open etc. Ideal quiet spot.
Gemma

So glad to hear that Nicky. When searching yesterday I kept hearing the trains and my heart was very heavy with the thought. I really think we need to get a tracker in and if that does not help, go National on the assumption she has been taken. :(

The railway runs close to where Maggie was seen on the first night Maggie went missing. Gemma has checked with network rail & fortunately no reports of her.

I went to Downley again today with my two. Parked in The Pastures Service Road and entered the green area via the path towards St James The Great Church. Walked all along that North edge checking undergrowth, all round the Church, met a lady there walking two Westies who is also keeping her eyes open. Worked my way all through the Ian Rennie Memorial woods to the Western edge again checking all undergrowth as best I could. Was 'off track' and overlooking Plomer Hill most of the time. Tried to check all though there right to the road. Then worked along the Southern edge again in the undergrowth of the other Ian Rennie Memorial wood, as close to the backs of the gardens as I could where there is thick undergrowth in places. Because I do not know the area, I did miss the bit of wood that protrudes partly into the field (I must have been crawling along fences at that point!!). When I got to the area where the woods totally cut the field in two, I had to finish. I walked up the field, onto the path and then back along to the service road. However, my dogs did go crazy right in that bottom South Eastern point on the edge of the field and into the edge of the woods. Couldn't find anything, so maybe just a rabbit or something had been there? On the way back to the car, I spoke to some workmen just starting to paint the garage doors along there. They will keep their eyes peeled, and I stopped the car to accost another postman; he was aware from the posters and is also keeping his eyes open. That area is huge! To do it properly, we need several people and a couple of hours working together! OR see if K9tracker has better luck??

Walked up there again today. After more info from Maggie's mum, I parked in Downs Park and covered the area from there to the Disraeli school, between the woods and The Pastures road. Tried to cover and check all the garages and 'back roads', checking all accessible cover I could find. Also spoke to anyone I met, including two postmen (one of whom when I gave Maggie's address gave me the owner's surname so he knows them and where to go if they get any sightings). Good luck anyone else going to look, hope she makes an appearance soon xxxLast edited: 2016-06-23 16:14:11 by sarap3038

Took my daily walk to Downley and had a look through Tinkers Wood and surrounding area. Spoke to as many people as I could. More posters need to be put up and some (which got wet yesterday) need replacing with ones in plastic. Need lots through the woods etc as lots walk dogs there, but also along the roads where there are a lot of people walking with children. Have houses in immediate vicinity been leafleted? Suspect she may be hiding in the labyrinth of roads/houses/garage blocks round there. Have owners notified postmen, milk men, local taxi firms etc? May need a search group to check all the garages and road areas up there!! Have owners tried the unwashed washing/her bedding on the line to see if she smells her way back? What about contacting BFP? I may be duplicating things already done, but trying to think of anything that may just help! xx
