Have had response from Hampshire Police Equine officer who confirms he has forwarded Faith's poster to the web site manager with a request he put it onto the site. The equine officer can then back up with an entry on the HHW bulletin. May help to spread the word.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just returned from the Newbury Show. Met up with Anne (Camille's owner) and we handed out lots of posters of Camille and Faith to a variety of people all of whom showed great concern and agreed to spread the word. Of particular interest was our conversation with the helpers on the Police Equine Liaison Officers stand who, apart from taking posters, suggested the posters be emailed to them and they will forward. Will do this now. DL is obviously known to them because, prior to actually looking at the poster, one of them suggested we go on the internet and contact DL! Stayed much longer than originally planned and returned to a little girl with 4 very crossed legs! For general info, visitor's dogs are not allowed onto the showground for this event resulting in many dogs being left in parked cars and regular tannoy announcements telling people to get back to their cars to avoid officials breaking in to rescue dogs - which officials were actually doing both yesterday and today! A King Charles Spaniel is often mistaken for a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and to the lay person they would not know the difference. Anyone out there in the vicinity, Faith does not have a snout (a nose), they are flat faced i.e like pugs, and to see a King Charles Spaniel is very, rare. So anyone who visits this site and wants to help, this will and anyone else who may be reading I would just like to add. This little dog belongs to her breeder/owner, she is very, very much loved as a pet first, lived with her brother, so very much a family dog of both sorts, human and canine. Her owners are still very bereft at her loss it was not due to carelessness it was a freak accident. Just remember "how would you feel if your dog/child/cat etc went missing"? I am still watching for Faith but I find it very distressing to see some of the incidents whereby dogs go missing so have to keep it to a minimum as to when I read the posts. I am especially distraught to read about the bitches and pups that are stolen!!! Where I can help I will though.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

FaithFan, Maybe you could also try KeepHatch Junior school. It is right next to Palmer School and one side of it backs on to Keephatch woods, which run along side the A329m. I have postered around the woods but just thought as it was so close to the area. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tori, just to avoid any confusion, Faith is King Charles Spaniel not a Cavalier (CKS), and a very beautiful one too.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tori - to the best of my knoweldge, the free Metro paper is only available at London stations, or at least I've never seen it here in Berkshire. Keelah has sent out press releases but, as far as I can tell, no paper has taken up the story. Don't know if owners have placed any adverts anywhere. CaroleLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

John - I agree with you about the poster. Unfortunately, some people are not very bright. One person commented to me about the strange name i.e. Faith Sighted !!! Perhaps still missing would now be better. Majorjet (Jan) has emailed some small posters to me for handing out on Sunday at the Newbury Show and the sighted bit has been removed. Faith is such a gorgeous CKC spaniel! People do take dogs in and sometimes are not sure who to contact. Might be worth adveritising again in the local papers in the area she went missing and putting A5 mini postes or credit card size posters through letterboxes. If you have the free Metro newspaper that is given away at train stations, might be worth contacting them to see if you can place a lost add. Also contact the local breed club/rescue if you haven't done that already. Hope there is some good news soonxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Would it be wise to remove "sighted" from the poster? It might give the impression that she's been found and we need to keep people looking. on eperson I gave a poster to (at the local petrol station) found it rather confusing (yeah, OK so he wasn't the brightest of folk). Just realised I've posted details of schools in the wrong area (!), I'll research ones in Binfield area and post them. JohnLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I emailed a poster to one of the local schools in July but received no reply (they may have thought it was spam). Probably best to telephone the School Secretary to ask if they would consider putting up a poster at the school gates? I work for the Dept for Children, Schools and Families, so could easily get hold of contact details if you can't locate them on the web or in local telephone directories. Primary and pre-schools in the area are: "Acres of Fun Day Nursery" RG18 9SG "Brockhurst School" RG18 9UL "Crabtree Pre-School" RG18 9TL "Hermitage pre-School Playgroup" RG18 9SS "Priors Court School" RG18 9NU. Might be easiest and most productive if some kind soul who lives locally could stop by there in person? John.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Everyone Not sure what we can do about this, but I have received a call today from a helper who has contact with a "Lady who has insight" On asking about Faith, she has told us that she feels she is OK, living 27 miles from where she went mising. She feels that she was found in a park by 2 children who took her home, which is near to the park, and want to keep her, and do not want to give her up. I am hoping to make contact with this person, in the hope that it will bring more information. On the off chance that this is correct, If there is anyone out there living aprox 27 miles from Newbury, could we poster schools now that the new term has started. The children ages were though to be 8,9,-12 ? but nothing is precise in this. Regards PaulineLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't live anywhere near but Watton is north of Thetford on the A1075. Believe owner of missing weimaraner IP7 is going. If I remember correctly, a DL helper rescued a dog from there last time. We have elderly friends who live in Watton and they tell me the locals always ensure all doors, windows etc are kept closed and locked and dog owners take even greater care than usual! Speaks volumes about this event. Also, just found out the Newbury Show takes place on 15/16 September. Would be opportunity to hand out more posters.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Although I haven't posted on here for a while, have been making regular trips around Binfield and surrounding area at different times of the day in the hope that, if she had been taken in by someone, that person might now be taking her out for a walk. Unfortunately, no luck. Replaced some damaged posters on my travels. Have also visited a rather dubious place that calls itself an animal rescue. Unfortunately, the gentleman wouldn't allow me onto his premises but did agree to take a poster. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Put up some new posters round the showground again. I only found 1 still up in the whole area! I had done a few different ones and have today posted them around the Binfield sighting area. Surely SOMEONE must have seen where she went or what happened after that sighting in July. There is a circuit, around the fields there, that dog walkers ALWAYS seem to be walking on. I am just hoping it jogs someones memory. I went to 3 different ringcrafts lastnight and have given everyone leaflets. I was also given addresses of a couple of other dog clubs which I will get posters out to this week.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Westmorland Park is at the end of Westmorland Drive on the new housing development. Do you know Tesco? If so, at Tesco roundabout go up County Lane (alongside Tesco, not back towards Bracknell) and at the top at T junction turn left (no through road). Leads to Park. Haven't seen any adverts for this event but assume it is still on. Listed in Parish council newsletter. More than that I do not know but believe it is a regular annual event.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rippleoak - Like you, I am lost for ideas now, which is why I mentioned South Oxfordshire. On a local basis, there is a 'Paws in the Park' event tomorrow at Westmorland Park, Warfield (11.00-1600 I think). Not sure I will now be able to go but it would perhaps be a good place to hand out posters or ask organisers to make an announcement. Thanks for confirming about the Standard. Binfield is obviously one up on us. To my knowledge, the old part of Warfield never gets anything like this delivered!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

BonBon, You are right, the Standard is a freebie paper. We get it here in Binfield and I have been checking all the papers but have seen nothing either. Have re emailed out Faiths poster to every dog contact in my address book and to ALL the dog contacts in my work places address book (that was 100s). I have been to 2 different RingCrafts this week and given out A5 leaflets to everyone that that stands still long enough to listen! I have contacted 2 people in the Didcot area, with kennels, and asked them to try and poster their area. I have also been and spoken to the local Dog Warden again and been back up to Binfield Dog Rescue and DB ARC in Wokingham. I need some ideas on what to do next!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Apologies if I now state the obvious but have just been reading through this thread yet again. Craigowl's posting on 10/08 said Faith had been sighted heading along the B4009 in the Goring direction. If she had kept going in this direction she could have gone or been taken into South Oxfordshire. Have the Oxfordshire dog wardens been notified? As there have been no further sightings in the Binfield and surrounding area, is it worth expanding the search to the South Oxfordshire/Berkshire borders? Perhaps this has already been done but just expressing my thoughts just in case the Binfield sighting is not Faith.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ruthcav - To the best of my knowledge there has not been anything relating to Faith in previous weeks in either Bracknell News or Bracknell Times. Not heard of the Bracknell Standard - is this the freebee issue? If so, we don't get it as no freebees are delivered to us. Don't get Wokingham Times but that is usually only just a slight variation on Bracknell Times, depending on 'headline' area news. I previously phoned this info to Keelah - left voice mail message -in response to her request on 04/08. CaroleLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My posters are still up and will check again tonight. I am sorry that we have no news yet of Faith. However, I do disagree with an amount not being shown. I have had expericnce with this type of individual in the past, from childhood right through, with work, and family. They are low lives and very hard for people like us to understand, we never will do not worry. Faith and many, many dogs like her upset me enough. However, was has distressed me so very, very much are the amount of litters of pups being stolen. Us breeders have to make a stand and get wise to the fact that we are being watched, caution at all times when advertising a litter, with Live Earth so very easy to gain a view of all our properties, it makes life easy for these low lifes. From what I have managed to find so far puppies can be microchipped from 6 weeks of age. The tatoo looks even earlier. I am still investigating this source as I feel so very, very strong about this in particular. Why do breeders get all the flack, the public need to know about breed enthusiasts, how they have given their lives to their chosen breed, love their dogs explicity, breed now and again, as they try and breed only healthy stock with careful consideration before they start and in part their lives have been devoted to their dogs and everything in their life is all for their dogs. Today on the BBC they are going on about Strays!!! I think the media should be much more informed i.e how many dogs go missing whether stolen or missing. Not to mention the stolen pups that are offered at markets throughout the country very, very cheaply. In fact I feel so strongly, I shall write a mail to the BBC today. I feel that someone is trying to hide her locally, if they are removing posters so fast. There are posters of dogs lost in my area, and when I walk out by our fields they are the same posters, and have been there since I encountered the lady putting them up. It just makes me wonder!!! I know frustration sets in, but Dee has a point to keep on posting, new and same areas, again and again.......Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everyone, I still tend to agree with Dee on this one, we would happily pay a reward, we need to know she is still out there. My cousin drove through Hermitage at the weekend and most of the posters have been taken down. I do feel we have to keep up the pubilicty especially with dog people, who understand how we all feel about our pets.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I won't shoot you salbrie but i really really really advise against the use of a large donation. You'll be ripped off and have your strength tested beyond anything you have ever felt before. Take a look at other dogs with large donations out there - there are some with ?10K and ?40K offered - none of those dogs are back. What WILL get faith back is postering, more and more and more and more, until the area is totally flooded, then add more until no-one can avoid seeing Faith. Sorry I konw you don't agree but this comes from years of experience. Hope you understand.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am making a suggestion that Craigowl take care of the collection, I know she is keen, she is also around the places that I cannot get to this year and she is in contact with Faith's owner. I agree with an amount being set, and yes it will bring out the hoaxers, of course it will, but I feel by offering a large amount of money it will bring a lot of wood out of the fire so to speak. We just have to sift through the junk to get to the real one!!! No money will ever change hands unless Faith is returned in one piece. So yes I will pledge ?20 and Norma, please start the collection and I will have my say with the Clubs!!! With so many dogs disappearing we have to wake up to the fact that dog knapping is big business for some people, they sieze the opportunity, watch us dog people, follow us, watch our properties. I know I am watched, my garden is very secure and I also have wonderful neighbours who look out for my dogs. However, this does not relieve me much as I know that if there is a small chance "they" can gain access to my property and break in and take my dogs they will. I am aware that Faith was not taken in the first instance but now feel she has been taken in. The countryside was searched so thoroughly that if she was out there she would have been spotted by someone. Norma, are you taking the money? This I feel needs to be started as soon as possible no more time lapsing. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you everyone again, your never ending support astounds me, and keeps me going. I have to say I tend to agree with Dee over the reward, hence we didn't specify an amount, that said we desparately want her back, but need to know she is out there first of all. With the outbreak of foot & mouth, does anyone have any contact with DEFRA, as these people will be scouring the area over the coming weeks, and may just catch sight of a white dog. The last thing we want is to have her shot, as a risk of passing on the virus. Having gone through this up in Cumbria, we know what happens. PaulianLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

From experience, we can say that not only do large rewards not tempt people in more than an "ordinary" reward, if you offer a large some of money, a large sum of money will be taken. Thieves will take what they're given - if its ?50 or ?200, they'll take it. Why give them more?? We still have no proff that Faith isn't loose so I think this could only encourage a) more theft and b) hoax callers. Be very very careful, please.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for all your hard work especially Rippleoak and everyone else, Please can everyone keep reminding local Dog Training Classes/Show exhibitors/Dog Walkers & vets that Faith is still missing. I do think people forget very quickly if they are not directly involved. It is so important to keep everyone aware, as she is quite distinctive, being a King Charles and not a Cavalier, there are not many around and especially as she is almost white with just the black & tan face markings, and the odd spot of black. Went back to the show ground today, covered most of the surrounding areas with more posters...Just incase the sighting in Binfield was not her. Called in at the 2 farms opposite and gave them a poster each and then spoke to one of the tractor drivers. He has taken about 20 of the smaller leaflets and is going to give them to all the farm hands that are out in the fields at the moment. Called in at the garden centres, Hillier already had an old poster up but took another and put some up in another couple. Called in at the White Horse and gave them a poster to go behind the bar. Covered posts everywhere with her poster! Persuaded 2 post offices to put up a poster and managed to persuade the 2 customers in there to put one in the back of their car. Delivered about 60 leaflets to houses in the nearby villages. I called in at a GSD and Boarding kennels nearby and have given them 100 leaflets, to hand out to customers, as we are doing back in Binfield. Hoping for a sighting soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Pauline, yes I've had a bit to do with travellers in the "missing dog scene" Not a huge amount though. You must never be belligerent, angry or accusing. It's their help you want so you must ask politely for help, plead with them if necessary and always suggest that you'll pay a reward. Genuine tears don't go amiss either. A lot of those people are dog lovers and will help you. Yes of course there are those who are not nice but in the settled community there are more. Look at those who find a dog and keep it and those who buy a dog in the pub for ?20. Not so nice. I know how you are fixed, it can't be easy and I feel for you. EddieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Went out again this afternoon and went along many narrow lanes. Can't believe how many houses & farms have cctv installed. I must have been viewed so often! Sadly, no sign of Faith. Put up a few more posters but area seems pretty well postered now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm going to Kensington Open Show tomorrow in Blackmore, Essex and will take posters with me - people tend to travel from all over the place for open shows down here. JohnLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Would also add, recently reunited Digby was 'supposedly' bought at the same market. Highly unlikely, so just be aware not everything you read is as it happened - its guesswork. If the dogs could talk our life would be easier and we could find the culprits no problem. That said, nothing to stop you or someone paying a visit there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I stuck up another 80 posters last night. I went to Twyford, Hurst, Early, Reading and Billingbear. I then grabbed a friend and we headed back towards Newbury and put some up there too. I even managed to persuade the cinema to put a poster up for her. Mary, We tried to put some around Maidenhead starting around Howe Lane, but everywhere we went you and Marion had already been! There are certainly a lot of posters around of her. I have printed another pile today and a friend is taking them to her agility weekend show. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had managed to source the market, thanks for the info. I have also been told that it operates 4 days a week and not a place that I am allowed to go to. I am trying to get some to go there though, even though it was not true last time. I have been told that they sell all kinds of animals there so is well worth looking. Yes Pauline keep along the lines we are on now and lets keep hoping we will have some good news very soon. As for you Michelle, has anyone told you how grrrrrreat you are!!! I didn't know there were gypsies at Holyport. Take care and I know you have good company where you work. I have to rush up there tomorrow morning for my dogs biscuits otherwise I will be in trouble of course keeping one eye on the countryside.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As Doglost played a major part in the return of Widget and Gizmo, one dog was said to have been purchased from Southall Market, however as we later found out the person claiming such, was actually wanted by police in other areas for theft & deception. So we dont even know if it was true. It was claimed that the other dog was purchased by a woman from a man in a park.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Re the Travellers, I had been told that it was better not to involve any Authorities or Police, but to ask for their help in finding our dog. A cash reward and a promise of "no questions" asked was the way to go. Failing this we may eventually have to ask the Council Officers. What does everyone else think? I have no experience of these people, but am relying on advice from others who do. PaulineLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rippleoak - just a thought - did you see any dogs ressembling Moppet stolen from RG10? If you manage to get to the other site, perhaps you can have a look for her as well. Also, the Southall market only operates on certain days each week and I'm told you should not venture on your own! Wil be out and about driving around tomorrow so will keep looking for both. My printer appears to be working again now so will be printing off posters of each to take with me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been to the Billingbear site today. I spoke with a guy there and gave him some posters to hand round. I saw various dogs but no Faith. I have even put posters up in their entrance. There is another site towards Holyport, on the ICL grounds, but have been warned not to approach them. I am working on getting a couple of people to go up there. I put some posters up in our local Asdas today after reading Mary had been to Tescos. I also called in at Binfield Dog Rescue and Wokingham Animal Rescue (Now known as DBARCentre) and gave them some more posters. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I really am beginning to think that someone has taken her in. Can someone do an Internet search for country fairs and events coming up in the South East and email their organisers with a poster? These might be the kind of places where dogs could change hands. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was out at Warfield Tesco last evening and have asked that Faith's poster be put up at the garage. The lovely assistants said they would have to have Manager approval for this but felt sure it would go up. Could anyone keep an eye out for her poster. It does get tremendously busy at Tesco's garage and hopefully jog peoples memory. So if it is not up go and ask again and if you are available during daytime hours may be seek out the manager.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Paulian. So sorry Faith has still not been found. No news is sometimes good news though, so please keep positive. Re- the travellers site, there is an area beat officer for Binfield, and he may be able to tell you if there is a police officer who deals directly with the travellers. You may also be able to get some information of travellers movements. I will PM you his email address. Please let us know how you get on. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Everyone, I have just been advised that there is a gypsy site at Billingbear, close to Bingfield where Faith was last sighted. Is there anyone out there who is prepared to take posters to them and ask for their help in finding this dog? Advise them that the owner is prepared to pay a cash reward, and is not interested in involving the Police, or Authorities, they only wish her safe return. I know it is a long shot, but these people know how to catch dogs and have their ears to the ground. If anyone knows where she is they will I am sure. If anyone knows of any other gypsy camps in the area, could we target them too, as they do seem to move around. Gypsies were at Cheively the weekend of the S.Wales show, but Ian & I could not find them. Any help with this would be appreciated. A couple of us were out last evening, putting up posters around Holyport, in Stur Road, a road that goes over the M4, and despite them watching the water lapping at their front doors and gardens under water, they were extremely helpful and put the posters up for us all the way down the road, we were told of a footpath to try which we did and again we put up posters. Marion was determined I walk through the flood which when we found our way back to the flood, there was no other thing to do except remove my walking boots, socks and roll up my jeans and wade through the water. It was actually quite warm and no there was no sewage!!! It is amazing what you do discover on these walks across fields that are not trodden that often and although we had no sighting of Faith, I believe we have found something I would rather of not seen. No details at this time as it will be quite distressing for the person concerned. We have to get hold of the authorities first. Tonight we are going out again, mainly to put up posters anywhere we feel people may walk and cannot help but notice, this evening though we are taking binoculars and my super zoom camer oh and a hammer. We imrovised last night and found a piece of wood. Yes, Michelle both Marion and I am up for a meet tomorrow, if you don't have Marion's number already, this is my mobile 07845473773. I do not think I will have time to get back on here today as I have to visit my dad's widow now and then we are back out there as soon as we have seen to our own dogs. Of course any sightings will be promptly relayed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That lady is very sensible Craigowl. Dogs don't normally travel very far from the place they last saw their owners. I agree we should concentrate on both areas until we get a further sighting. Everyone on the ground are doing a fantastic job, and I know how tired you all must be. Very well done. Have sent poster to Eileen Douglas Tack shops on line, hopeing they will forward to customers. Have also written to, and sent poster to The West Berkshire Countryside manager, and the Bracknell Forest Borough Council Rangers, requesting poster to be circulated to all appropriate areas. Hope they will do so. Had this reply from Dogmanics - "We have Faith's poster up all around the Tilehurst / Reading area. I will forward this to all my contacts, and members. I really hope she is reunited soon, with her owners". thank you Jenny. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had a call from a lady who runs a boarding kennel close to the A329 and has had the poster. She herself lost a dog for 6 weeks and it turned up no further than 2 miled from where it went missing. She suggests that early morning or late evening are best for looking and not to stop the search in the Newbury area just in case the dog spotted last week was not in fact Faith. She also suggested notifying gamekeepers. NormaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Pauline and Ian. We at Doglost are all so sorry Faith is still missing, but assure you we will do everything we can to find her safe. I have asked admin to activate your registration. You have an excellent team on here working for you, so please stay positive, and please telephone, or search for email addies, and send the poster to anyone you can find in that area. The farms and riding stables would be good. Send a covering letter, asking for poster to be forwarded to their contacts, and for them to tell all the staff. Dogs often drawn to stables and farm yards. Posters really work, and will get sightings. Are there any other breeders in the area who would help, not necessarily your breed ? We just need that one pair of eyes. Have this morning done Beaumont Taxis- Windsor - Hart Executive Cars - Baileys Garage Winkfield - Lakeside farm Livery Winkfield- The Rose and Crown Winkfield, and Red Tiles Barn Winkfield. Just sent some more posters out by email, my son's who live in London are going to put up as many as they can. I know she probably is no where near North London, but you never know who is talking to who(m)? I cannot walk far, but I would gladly come down and drive around, sadly I cannot as Jeff has just had surgery on his hand and is not fully functional yet. Well done to all you people who have been walking/driving around looking for her. I know Pauline & Ian are overwhelmed at the reponse. For those of you able to physically search, keep up the good work, it is very frustrating just tinkering about at the computer, but you must know how much your hard work is being appreciated, not just by Pauline & Ian, but by all of us, it makes me very proud to be associated with you all.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jean W, a good point, I have to admit I hadn't thought of that one. No the owners would not have gone home after Windsor. Yes Salbrie, they were entered at Windsor on Sat 28 June and moved on the South Wales Kennel Assn Show at Newbury on 5 July so I would think that they went directly from Windsor to Newbury via the M4 with their caravan. Living in Carlisle I don't imagine that they went home in between. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Faith's owners went home after a prolonged stay at Newbury. The show that was held at Newbury was the South & West Wales show, moved there because the normal showground was 2ft under water. Windsor Dog Show was the week previous.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Stanley (my tri Charlie pup) and I spent some hours in the area Thursday afternoon. We walked a few miles in a variety of locations and handed out posters to dog walkers we met who were all very sympathetic. I put posters in the side and rear windows of my car, which attracted lots of attention as I was driving around. One lady offered to put one in her local pub in Paley Street, where the local horse vets also drink, which was a good idea. The area is very much horse stud territory and the difficulty is that most of the land near the motorway is private farms and studs, so access isn't easy. However, we looked in the area between the A329(M) almost up to Holyport, walking as near as we could get to the M4, calling her name and using an old gundog whistle, as it carries for miles. My heart jumped every time I saw a magie but no sight of Faith. I also stopped by Binfield Dog Rescue who had already been contacted by the Police and I stuck a poster up on the front counter at the local Shell garage just off the A322 towards Binfield, so most local people stopping in there off the motorway will see it. You can buy an A-Z of Berks there. I also posted a couple of posters in the letter box of Highfield farm and think we should email other farms/studs in that area. Unfortunately, bus stops and village halls (my expected target) seemed non existant in those parts.I'm sure if she been spotted once she will be again. Keep positive. If any of you are able during the daytime and can look at the map as to Faith's progess from Hermitage to her sighting at Binfield, gauge where she may be heading since Sunday, as she is obviously not staying anywhere too long. It would be great if some could get out during the day and search fields & woods and carry some chicken or some rather nice smelling treats that dogs love. She will only come to food nothing else. I am tied up at work all day which is unfortunate, but my boss would not understand any of this!!!! Look for a route I doubt she is in Binfield now after all this time, my guess is somewhere around Fifeld area or Winkfield. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Carole, it was off the A329M, before you actually turn off for Bracknell, she apparently was followed into the field and it is where there is a chicken farm, unfortunately, it was getting very dark by the time we were taken to where she was last seen. Rob Dix did go to the farm house though but that was when we all parted. I know you can see the farm from Forest Road, as I was there yesterday trying to find the lady who is getting her doggie walking friends on the search, as I was to her in some posters. I saw the farm in the distance to my right, whilst travelling along Forest Road from the Citroen Garage on the corner towards Warfield. I was obviously on the wrong side of the road for the lady's house. Time ran out for me as I had to let my dogs out and get back to work. I hope she received them today as I posted them. I am trying to judge her movements by the map and calculate what distance she may cover in the course of a day. So far she has kept the M4 within hearing distance. I am going on that she is still following the M4 via the fields which means she could well by in or around the Walthams by now. I am so commited this week to other things during the evenings, that it is impossible for me to actually get out and arrange for a few to do the fields around us, I am not free until Saturday evening and Sunday during the daytiem and will gladly join any search we can arrange during that time. I just have this gut feeling she is in the fields following the noise of the roads. Can we not arrange a good search for the weekend or Friday evening? MaryLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Salbrie - can you let me know exactly where in Binfield - pm me if need be - as I am in Warfield. I too have driven around Binfield looking but haven't seen anything. My printer is still on the blink but I have managed to get something ressembling one decent poster out of it which I will take when I visit Moor Cottage vets this afternoon to update what they already have. Dog people will normally spread the word. Some of these kennels are further out, but we need to get in front of her. One poster can make all the difference, just like the one at the vets. As much publicity as possible. Try dog groomers also, animal feed places, stables, and post on here what has been done so we dont overlap. Come on Faith. We are looking for you. I went out on Monday evening in the vain hope of sighting Faith, it was rather late when I received the call that she was missing. I have posted some posters to a lovely lady who lives in Binfield and she showed us where Faith was last seen entering a chicken farm area. The question is, is she keeping the traffic in her hearing and following (by the fields) the noisy traffic, I suspect she is, if she is she could be in the Twyford area, or Winkfield, Holyport, Windsor, Maidenhead. I am keeping my eyes peeled for her myself and asking anyone who is walking a dog to be on the look out for her. Saying she could be in our area. Can we broaden the search in the areas mentioned above as I feel if we can at least try and follow a route by which she is going then it will help. It does help that she has been spotted heading north. I hope we find her very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good news if this is Faith, and she is well. Have requested a poster mail out to helpers in Binfield (RG42). Have contacted about 80 vets, all over Newbury, Basingstoke, Reading areas, by phone or email and logged her in their LOST dog books. Will now concentrate on emailing Binfield area, as she has moved so far over. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ruth cav please ensure you inform mandy dorman - mandy.dorman@wokingham.gov.uk who is the dog warden for that area and one of our biggest allies in the authority. very proactive and she will do what she can. Binfield is definitely a way - Faith appears to have gone north from where she went missing to Hampstead Norreys and then east and along the M4 and up to the a329. your newspapers for this area are the wokingham times (got a dog back for us last month speak to vicky on the newsdesk) and the Bracknell newsxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just had word from Norma about a possible sighting: Moor Cottage Veterinary Practice, London Road, Binfield (RG42) has a poster up and a client said that they had seen the dog near the A329M heading towards Binfield yesterday. They had stopped the car to try and catch it and it actually crossed this A329M and disappeared into the countryside. Seems genuine and owner has been informed. It looks a fair distance, but then ten days have gone by. Can we all get the word out again please. The publicity has done the trick and we need to double our efforts and have a good push at getting her back safe where she belongs. Thanks everyone Ruth SLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Eddie, Not as yet, so will phone if emails keep being returned. The owner has to return home again today. He has walked miles and miles and nothing! It must be so distressing for them, I cannot begin to imagine how tough. I know how upset I am and she's not my dog. As you say, we have to keep positive. I will do what I can from my phone and pc and at your suggestion spread the word a little wider afield. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Runfold-Eddie:
Hi Ruth, did you manage to contact Jayne? Maybe a phone call tomorrow if not? And I'm assuming, sadly, there have still been no sightings? I know it's an impossible task, but postering now needs to be moved outwards in a fan-like distribution from where she was last seen. It does seem somewhat futile I know, but we mustn't lose heart.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I phoned Wrexham dog warden yesterday even though it said a dog not a bitch. They gave me the number of teh kennels where it had been taken. I spoke to the kennel man and asked him to check if it was indeed a dog. When he came back with the news it was infact a bitch I nearly passed out. Sadly this is a Cavalier (longer nose) and has a lot of black on the body. I spoke to DOGLOST and they have changed the description to CKCS FEMALE. Worth the initial call. It just might have been! Thanks Keelah. I sent copy and pleading letter I ok'd with owners to Newbury Newsdesk via email. Also included photo and tried to get an angle going for a bit on front page. Probably won't be successful but I am hoping for a story not an advert. I did speak to one of the journalists and she gave me the email address but not the name of sarah roberts so I hope it reaches her. Have been in touch with the West Berkshire Council and left all the information for the Dog Warden yesterday. I will get onto the Police and Emily Roberts tomorrow. Many thanks for your help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

for info owners of Boo the Golden Retriever, Camille the JRT and Abigail the Border Terrier are all in this area. Please ensure you ring sarah bosley on the newsdesk of the Newbury Weekly News and ask her to do a story in the news pages of the paper, rather than an advert in the lost and found section. this area is made up of West Berks Council so it may be worth getting on their site and emailing the local councillors in the immediate area where she went missing - they live locally and will keep an eye out. Below the district council level there are also scores of tiny parish and hamlet councils, very close knit and I am sure the members of these would also spread the word. I am sure there is a link to every parish and hamlet council - and their contact details - on the west berks council website. Local police area inspector for the area is emily roberts - leave her a message via 0845 8 505 505 or email emily.roberts@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk and ask her to keep an eye out for Faith. May also be worth printing out the poster and sending it, with a nice covering letter, to Lambourn, Hungerford, Pangbourne police stations. all of these have volunteer staff who live locally manning the counters who would display the poster for the benefit of visitors and also spread the word among their friends. Good luck and if owners need a hand with more local information (worked in area for six years but now live in South Wales so am of no use whatsoever) please pm meLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good idea Eddie. The owner is down there again with his caravan, the showground is full up unfortunately so he is staying about 10 miles from Hermitage but is walking the area. OK we are trying to get a piece in the Newbury News out next week. All the vets practices, pet shops, post offices, farms and schools that I could find within the RG18 area have either been emailed details and a poster, or snail mailed details and a poster. I have spoken to a very nice RSPCA volunteer in the area who has alerted Foresters in the Yattendon area. I spoke to someone in the Council Offices and left details for the West Berkshire Council Dog Warden. Come on Faith, time to show yourself sweetheart!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Eddie. Don't shoot the messenger! As far as I know this "sighting" was at the time she escaped, not since. I think being away from home without access to a computer made things difficult for the owners. Relying on second, third parties to relay the information. We all do what we can with the information available. But surely we mustn't get negative and give up hope!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Runfold-Eddie:
Sorry Norma, but this info regarding sightings should have been relayed to this site as soon as it was known. So much time has lapsed. What it now needs is someone in the area to hopefully organise something. I fear we may be too late. Jees, the owners couldn't live further away if they tried! Is it possible to get phone numbers of contacts they have made in the area?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Faith's owners have now had to return home to Carlise. Sadly as yet, still no news, with not even a sighting. Their hopes are fading fast of ever seeing her again. Here is there message "King Charles Spaniel Bitch, Paulian Faith, who escaped from the caravan park at Newbury Showground on the 5th July, the night of the storms, has still not been recovered. She was last seen in the village of Hermitage, on the road to Hampstead Norreys, and Goring the B4009. We are absolutely devasted by this loss and would welcome any sightings, to enable us to follow them up. She is 18months old, mainly white with a few black markings. She will have to be approached with care as she will be wary of strangers, and would be best tempted with food. If anyone living in the area could mention her loss to their vets, in case they have been asked to treat her. Any news please to Ian & Pauline Sidgwick 01228 -561209. Norma, can you get the owners to get some A4 paper and plaster the showground in posters. Preferably with a mobile number so if anyone spots her they can phone the owners. It's ever so spread out, but if they do inside the benching tents and on the end of the benches, outside the Pedigree stand too, everywhere. All they want is a sighting. Smother the place.
