Unfortunately, the weather was really quite bad so it was difficult to get good sight of the poor thing. He was definitely grey, very wet, quite thin and seemed to have quite wirey fur. My partner recalls he/she had a beard. I would say he/she looked more like the dog in this link but a bit older....
