You are right Jayne, she is exhausted but starving! snoozing away on the settee.
Thank you all again for your help. We have been so lucky with our Xmas miracle. My heart does go out to anyone looking for their dog/cat friend. Fingers crossed though, if Heidi can show up after no sightings for 7 days, anything is possible.
For those at the rainbow bridge-run free and we will all be together one day.
Merry Xmas to all. xxx

Dear Heidi's helpers, now that we have caught our breath I thought i'd better update.
My friend got a call at 0900 of Heidi's first sighting in 7 days, running around the woods of Streatham common. She wasn't easy to catch, and as I was driving I was told they nearly got her but didn't……...Think I've been clocked by all the speed cameras en route to Streatham Common in my rush to get there. Whilst en route I received another phone call to say someone had caught her and that they were prepared to wait for me. I so wanted to believe it was her but just had to see for myself. As i drove towards the cafe there she was on a lead and sat with a lovely gentleman called Gabor (who didn't want anything..asked him for address to drop a bottle of wine or 2-3 …he said knowing we had been reunited was enough). Gabor had had to run the length of the common to catch her after she was flushed out of the woods.
Dirty and smelly and has lost loads of weight but in good spirits. Hungry ++ but having to go easy on the feeding as probably not eaten for days. So she will get her turkey soon.
She's had a hot bath and is now wearing her Xmas outfit and seems to be pleased to be home.
I must thank the dog walkers of Streatham common for their support and for looking for her. The joy on peoples faces when they realised that the dirty grey dog was "missing Heidi" and that she had been found on Xmas morning was indescribable. People gave us the thumbs up as they drove home. As you can imagine I cried and sobbed through it all.
Thanks everyone on dog lost for all the positive thoughts and sharing and postering, during such a busy time of the year. You all took time to help a strangers dog, again we will never forget that.
When I stop bawling, Dog Lost will also get an Xmas present too.
I still can't believe she's back. This is all I could have hoped and dreamed of for Xmas and its come true.
Miracle of Xmas-it does exist.
Mandy, Heidi & Jasper. xxxxxxx

Ps someone at the common mentioned sending this story to a local paper…More than happy for dog lost to use this happy ending.

She never coming off lead again, as although she has good recall I can't take a chance with her being spooked and bolting. I am however going to get her a GPS tracker collar to cover all bases!

We've been over to Biggin woods today with our schnauzer, didn't realise until today that this is where she went missing from, no sign of Heidi. Thought if she was there, the sight of another schnauzer may give her courage.

Thinking of you this evening Heidi. . .hoping that Father Christmas can sprinkle some of his magic on you, to bring you home xLast edited: 2013-12-24 20:45:12 by blackbeard2

Thank again for help, suggestions and positive thoughts.
Just checked gumtree-nothing. Also checked preloved just in case, but no standard schnauzers. She is registered at Battersea.
Rang petlog and had Heidi's records marked as missing. The records are upto date and correct.
Just rang foal farm, no response will try them later, but have emailed them a dog lost poster link.
Have left a bed in Biggin woods as thats where she ran from, even though last sighting was running across Streatham common.
Going back out now, will put posters at Tooting Common and Streatham, & and replace rain damaged posters.
Hope the weather holds its not too cold today and I'm hoping she might show herself. Friends think someone may have taken her in…..We don't know what to think or do.
Please please keep sharing and tweeting.

I can't stop thinking about poor Heidi and where she could be! Thought there would have been a sighting by now! I'll be walking on Norwood Grove soon so will keep an eye out. Hate to suggest it but are you checking Gumtree? What about Battersea have you rang there? They would check for microchip, are all your microchip numbers updated? Also you could ring Foal Farm as if she did run off in direction of Croydon maybe dog warden would take her here? Come on Heidi where are you, please find your way home x
mandyskis
Thanks again to everyone. Went back to Streatham common, Biggin woods and Norbury park. Handed out fliers….not a single sighting. Just like she's vanished into thin air. I wonder if I'm focusing in the wrong area but in the absence of any sightings we have nothing else to go on and hence keep heading back to the point where she bolted and was last seen.
Heidi can walk for miles…she could be anywhere.
The awful weather makes my heart bleed and i'd do anything to swap places with Heidi if thats what it takes to get her back. The guilt we have when in a warm house is indescribable. Sorry for rambling on…..

Nettie thank you for your laminator….Im laminating at the moment and will be back out there tomorrow …..

Please keep tweeting and sharing.

Mandy I'm just around the corner from you, I've got a laminator you can borrow if you'd like bearing in mind how wet it is, laminated posters will last longer. My mobile number is 07917 203 168Last edited: 2013-12-23 13:22:59 by Nettie

Flyers in shop windows would be a great idea too. I covered most park gates as I thought these would be seen by fellow dog people and these are normally the people who will notice a dog on its own. Lets face it , Heidi's poster anywhere possible is the best option to get results and the more people who can help with this the more likely a sighting will be reported.

Keep safe girl, stay strong x

Hi Mandy, so sorry to hear Heidi has not returned yet :( If not done already may be a good idea to put flyers in the shop windows along Crown Point, Green Lane & Steatham Vale as I'm thinking more people will see these than on the park gates x
mandyskis
Thanks to everyone for helping with the search. Blackbeard2 you have been amazing driving around those areas. We are very moved by all the help. Today our friends went to Green Lane and Streatham Common to put up more posters. No sightings yet but we are hopeful. Papasmurf thanks for looking - we don't know where she ran after the encounter with the other dog. The weather and the long nights and the bank holidays are against us.
She has been gone 4 days now so we don't know if she is hiding somewhere or not.
Thank you to everyone again for sharing, looking and for their pawsitive thoughts.

This morning we've driven around Mitcham, Streatham, Norwood, Gypsy Hill as far as Crystal palace park and back to Streatham common. Put posters at every park entrance. Spoken to many dog walkers; some photographed Heidi's poster incase she is sighted. We have laminated all our posters and secured with drawing pins so hopefully will remain safe against the elements.

Come on girl....let yourself be seen, time to come home before the next bout of bad weather arrives x Last edited: 2013-12-22 13:12:39 by blackbeard2

Was out this morning with my Jack Russell X but no sighting.Did Heidi run back into the park (behind the cafe)after she was spooked?Just wondering if she was inside the gates if this makes sense.
Will keep my eyes open for her safe return, regards Paul
mandyskis
Thank you thank you to all the kind people who are helping. Was out today in the torrential rain, handed out flyers….
Tried to put posters up, but too wet and nothing sticking…Managed to get some to stick in the bus shelters around the common..Will try again tomorrow. Please keep tweeting and looking. x

Heidi was last seen on Streatham Common on the day she went missing, we now need more sightings to know which way she went to be able to focus the search, please keep a look out. Thank you.

Streatham Hill Vets have shared on their wall and their group wall on Facebook so we are getting a lot more shares now. Lots of people re-tweeting too x
DogLostreggiemollieros
You might need to email admin@doglost.co.uk to request the alerts to SW18. I would also call 101, the last dog missing in Streatham was picked up by the police and taken to their dog pound in Camberwell although he was not chipped which is why they did that. I know they scanned him before they took him there. There will be a lot more dog walkers out today so as blackbeard2 says the posters will help x
blackbeard2
I'm sorry to hear there is no news. Im sure there will be a sighting of her soon. Once people start to see the posters around the area and recognise her photo; this will bring news of her whereabouts. Keeping everything crossed for Heidi to show herself x
mandyskis
Sorry to report no news at all. I'm going to the common tomorrow with posters and fliers. My friends have been out looking all day. I'm worried that she is so far from home, disorientated, cold, wet and frightened. she could have gone in so many different directions, not sure where to focus the search. x

Any news on Heidi? My partner plans to go running on the common very early tomorrow morning with our schnauzer, he will be keeping a close eye out for Heidi x
mandyskis
Thank you everyone. Please spread the word. Any sighting however trivial.
She will be disorientated. My friends are out looking and I'm heading out now…..
Would it possible for dog lost to send alerts to SW18 please. Last edited: 2013-12-20 09:13:45 by mandyskis

I remember Heidi of course. I will share again this morning and keep up the momentum.

Thankyou! Heidi is from Earlsfield SW18 so doesn't know the area well. We think she was spooked and ran, but not necessarily injured at the time.

Hi, so sorry to hear about Heidi going missing! I walk up there everyday so will keep an eye out. I have also posted to dog owners page & mums page for the Streatham area on Facebook.
mandyskis
Thankyou so much Lesley. And the tweeting will really help too. I'm going to register her with Battersea and give that vet a ring. She could have gone in many directions. She went missing from outside her house in August but returned home on her own after 5 days. This time she isn't in her own area.
All we can do is spead the word and keep looking.
DogLostreggiemollieros
Sorry to read that Heidi is missing. I have told my friend who has a pet shop on Emmanuel Road and I will also share on twitter as I have quite a few local followers. I will share on Streatham Hill vets facebook wall too. If you call the out of hours vet on 23 Streatham High Road, 020 8677 0976 and ask if anyone has brought her in although given she is chipped they would hopefully call you. Hopefully you have made a report to Battersea so they can be aware. You can do it online or on the phone if you look on their website. If you need help tomorrow I may be able to come and look with you. I don't really know that part of Streatham that well as I am up the other end but it is not that far from me. I will check in here later. Lesley Last edited: 2013-12-19 19:58:12 by reggiemollieros
