well today is going to be special.. NINJA who,s done most for this delightfull dog, has located Steve who is dora,s original rescuer and owner ,he paid for her to be spayed, vaccinated etc to allow her to enter Great Britain, lastyear. unfortunatly on november 10th 2013 (fireworks) i bet, she escaped..living off roadkill, anything tasty washed up on MABLETHORPE - CLEETHORPE and DONNA NOOKE BEACHES and covering miles she finally settled for the very busy THORPE PARK holiday site in Cleethorpes.. NINJA, AND ALISON,did all the ground work to enable daughter EMMA and i to set up one of my larger traps, which worked brilliantly after she was fed on a regular basis by NINJA, alias julia and her son jordan,Tuesday evening 11-47pm she was caught,no problem at all.. i leave the dog that ive caught in the trap for a little while to realise it is caught in there by it,s own GREED, i havent chased it in there , i havent demanded it goes in there, then i am the goodie who gets it out of that situation; obviously with the utmost care and trust not to get chewed up!! i bleed the same as anyone else...WELLsunday will be re-uniting day,, with video,s camera,s and lots of tissues it will be very interesting.. 7months is a long time in a dogs life.. as with POPPY sheltie, NEENE saluki, and numerous others i,ve been involved with; they soon come round and show how greatfull they are!! i will keep you good people posted on how it goes.. my next challenge is to help capture poor OSCAR down in cornwall , lovely owners who have never given up on him, we holiday all round pl30 st tudy ,bodmin, delabole, wadebridge, and that little monkey has been out 3YEARS bless him.. and you will see once caught he will revert back to being the loving dog he was, might even be more loving..watch this space!! the main problem with all these dogs is that the only way they are happy is by coming to life at night and very early mornings..and why they TOTALY switch off from people even their beloved owners i will NEVER know. but with the helpers and DOG LOST UK it should,nt go on too long....
AlisonH
Ray is looking after Dora for a few days and he says she is doing well and has got a lovely nature. He has removed her harness and although the hair has worn away underneath it there are no abrasions on the skin just lots of debris in her coat that needs to be groomed out.
AlisonH
And a great big thanks to you too ninja for all your hard work and dedication over the last few months.Last edited: 2014-05-08 22:42:30 by AlisonH

What fantastic news :) Welcome home Dora.

So very pleased that Dora has finally decided to give herself up. Would like to say a great big thank you to RAYDED and Julia because without their help Dora would still be on the run. For those of you who don't know, Julia has spent months tracking Dora and gaining her trust and RAYDED has been giving brilliant advice and provided a trap large enough to contain Dora. Ray and Julia were both there waiting and watching last night when she finally took the bait and stepped right inside the trap.Last edited: 2014-05-07 16:23:03 by AlisonH

Hope she gets home soon.x
duffs54
She is a little survivor isn't she, maybe a happy ending looming xx
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
I will just add that the deer she has been seen eating is believed to be 'road kill' and not one she has killed herself,
There have been no reports that she has tried to kill anything herself (she has been living/roaming around seals, sheep, cattle etc) so isnt posing a threat to any livestock......
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
owner aware.
AlisonH
Thanks Jayne I have informed the lady who is monitoring Dora's movements. Just to keep you all in the picture we have had sightings of Dora on a daily basis since the beginning of January. She is moving on a stretch of coastline between Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes and is looking extremely healthy as there is lots of small animals for her to feed on. Dora lived rough in Portugal all her life so is perfectly used to being out in all kinds of weather. She is gradually letting people get closer to her but things need to be taken very slowly as she is very skittish. A while back some well meaning people tried to chase and catch her and this made her go back into hiding so if you see her please just call in to Doglost and tell us the location and I will pass on the information to our wonderful helper who is out there everyday monitoing Dora and trying to gain her trust.Last edited: 2014-02-27 15:49:32 by AlisonH

Just had a call to say Dora is on Cleethorpes beach by the leisure centre.

Had a few calls today from people who say over the last few weeks they have seen Dora in locations as far apart as Cleethorpes Fitties to Theddlethorpe.
duffs54
What good news, fingers crossed for a quick outcome, Dora the explorer needs to be home with her family xxx
AlisonH
Dora is featured in the Grimsby telegraph today.
AlisonH
We have had new information about a couple of places that Dora has been visiting and they will be monitored as of tomorrow.
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
They do look very similar but Dora has been sighted by a few people myself included since the other dog has been found, xx
Woo sips
I am looking at this via an iPhone so I apologise if I have contacted you and it's completely the wrong dog, can't see the detail too well as the screen is too small! Please check out found dog ref: 62604
If I see one looking similar I like to make people aware. If it's not I apologise for getting your hopes up. I hope you find your dog x

Sorry I am too far away xx

There has been another sighting of Dora today but she still hasn't been caught. Tomorrow is the last day that Lucy and Steve can stay at the cottage by the coast so they have decided to ask for help in the search.
If anybody can spare the time to help 2:30 Saturday would be a good time to start searching as it's high tide so Dora will have a smaller area to run in. She appears to be moving between Howdens Pullover, Donna Nook and Horseshoe Point. Please take mobiles with you and if you see Dora call Lucy on 07500 154100 or me on 07539 249818.

My sister and her husband have just seen Dora. Steve and Lucy have been told and are out searching now. Don't know why I have come up as unknown (Alison Lincs coordinator)Last edited: 2014-01-08 10:09:08 by AlisonH

One of the ladies involved in the search has been told by the warden that Dora was sighted at Salfeet this weekend.

It is definitely Dora that has been sighted and steps are being taken to gain her trust so we can eventually capture her. She is an ex street dog from Portugal and is used to fending for herself so this will not be an easy task but with a lot of patience we should be able to get her safely home. If anyone does see her can you please just call in the sighting ASAP.
AlisonH
Dora's owner and others are going over to Donna Nook today as after seeing the picture of the stray dog on our FB page many of us think this is Dora. Fingers crossed that they can at least get a glimpse of her today.

If any members live near Donna Nook in Lincolnshire, there is lost dog roaming around the beach (near the car park area). It's believed to have been roaming this area for several weeks, and is obviously looking very thin now. The breed is unsure, but it's the size of a lab and still wearing a harness when last seen yesterday. Please keep a look out for him/her if you are in this area, thank you.
There was a picture with this post which looked similar to your dog, but cant copy a picture on here and the timeframe looks to fit yours.
Esther
Fingers crossed
AlisonH
Just contacted owner for an update and there was a sighting of her last week in the same area she went missing from. Unfortunately he has only just been told about the sighting. Will bump.
AlisonH
Someone on FB mentioned that Marton is very close to the river Trent. Hope the banks have been checked.
Esther
She is very distinctive, so hopefully she will be easier to spot. Lovely dog, fingers crossed she will be found soon
Lucy Rolfe
No news as yet, keep hoping someone will spot her soon....
Esther
Any news about Dora?
AlisonH
Worried that Dora could be caught up by her harness. Please check all hedge bottoms etc.
