So very sorry Cookie is missing.

Please do a very slow and detailed search of the lakeside and any other ‘dips’ around where she was last seen.
When my blind, elderly or dementia dogs (I have fostered and owned many in these categories over the years) have dropped into a dip or water, they freeze. Often they lay down. If in water they’ll paddle until they reach the ground then they dig claws in and just hold on.

If there are bushes or long grass, again please get low and slowly cover all the ground. Then go over it again. I have done studies of my dogs with photos and they can move just a few feet after I’ve searched (in a secure field and deliberately allowed to wander so I know what to look for if I can’t find them ever) and they can move a few feet then lay down again and be unseen. Thinking I’d already searched that area I moved on and missed them. So it’s always worth recovering ground with a blind, or deaf, or dementure or brain damaged dog.

I hope you find her very soon.Last edited: 2024-08-16 08:22:49 by Rachel - Bucks volunteer
