From Elle, Sausage's owner -

"General bits of info:

Please be aware that we have a team together now working around the clock to get Sausage home. I completely understand everyone’s frustration as they are trying to help and having that help declined but at this time we do have a plan in place. If help is needed we will post on this site as with any updates we have. If you do not hear from us that means that there is no update available at this time so please try and refrain from messaging asking for an update as I am incredibly busy.

Sausage is a Black and Tan male Dachshund, at the time of his disappearance he was wearing a tweed collar and a black coat with a white trim. The only distinguishing feature is that he has a bald chest due to allergies.

Sausage is in survival mode now. This means that he is not acting like his normal loveable self. He will not come to people like he normally would, instead he will avoid them at all costs as they are now a possible threat to his safety. He has created a safe zone which we are tracking now and we have measures in place to humanly trap him.

At this time other than the ways listed that you can help there is nothing more we can do, it is a matter of time. We have sighted Sausage a number of times now so we are certain that is is alive and well for all those concerned.

Ways people can help aid the safe return of Sausage:
• When on your normal walk, keep an eye out, if you see Sausage don’t make any attempt to catch him, talk to him or even interact with him. Instead carry on as normal and call me. I have a team of people in place now who are available round the clock to assist. Also very helpful to pin on the what three words app where exactly you saw him.
• If he is seen make a note of what he was wearing - collar/coat? What direction was he headed in and what was his behaviour like? Any information when there is a sighting is incredibly important.
• putting up posters and making people aware. Perhaps you have an elderly neighbour is isn’t on Facebook but lives in the area that you can make aware. A map of surrounding areas to consider postering will be included.
• contacting local farmers who own surrounding land is very helpful.
• contacting parish councils and businesses is a fantastic thing to do.

Do’s and don’ts:
Do walk your normal walk and keep an eye out for Sausage.
Do not take an alternative route that you would not normally do to find Sausage. More people than absolutely necessary in the area of his disappearance and where he’s been sighted will drive Sausage out of the area all together, possibly leading him towards roads or other dangers. He is in his safe zone for now and we must keep it that way if we are to get him home again.

Do report a sighting. If you see him report directly to me and no where else. Posting sightings on this page or anywhere else publicly will cause well meaning people who do not understand to go out and try to catch him or look for him, as said before driving him away from the area entirely making getting him home impossible.

Lastly I am so appreciative of all the love and help received so far, it really is a lovely community we live in."
