8 year old, cocker spaniel Chester, went missing from Pevensey Road Open Space in Hanworth, Hounslow, TW13 on Thursday 4th March wearing a red collar with a black ID tag and a red harness. He is microchipped.
I have been a type 1 diabetic for 40 years, suffering with severe hypoglycaemic episodes.
Chester is very very important to me because, as well as being my beloved companion, he tells me when my blood sugar level is dropping!
These episodes happen without warning; and I find myself unable to move or even summon help. Chester learnt to recognise the onset, even before I did …
Some dogs can be trained to detect human hypos by scenting a change on their breath, they then alert their vulnerable owners, preventing serious complications. This skill takes intensive, specialist training but Chester, amazingly, TAUGHT HIMSELF – my clever boy!
The stress of losing Chester last Thursday is causing me real health issues, but I will carry on until I find him. He’s a treasured part of the family in addition to being vital to my well-being.
He is eight years old, much older than he looks, he’s not suitable for breeding due to a genetic condition and his age. I worry about how he is coping away from me and how he is being treated.
Please, anybody could just ‘find him’ hand him in to a local vet, the dog warden or call me, or DogLost anonymously.
