Fantastic news and lovely to read that Blackburn pulled together to get this old boy to safety. These feral dogs are always a challenge, his new family will have their efforts rewarded when he learns the joy of a comfy bed and regular meals. Stay safe now Bear x

Copy off Christine CC .... BEAR, a 12 year old Romanian rescue who escaped on arrival at his new adopters home on 7th April (he chewed through his slip lead). Initially there were sightings near where he escaped, and food, cameras and a trap were put out, but it soon became apparent that Bear was an experienced 'street dog' - he had survived 12yrs without being caught in a rural part of Romania, until darted by dogcatchers. Over the next 7 weeks, his adopter and a team of local people, followed up sightings, postered, repostered and postered again as storm Hannah ruined many of the 1000+ posters up around Bear's 4sqm territory. Eventually the area he was roaming decreased - he was seen limping by a number of sighters, and it was possible to focus the food dumps and camera work on a smaller area. Finally he was seen feeding on camera enabling a trap to be sited and the trapping process to begin, and on 28th May Bear's adventures came to an end - he has covered many, many miles over the last 7 weeks, as have the team! He will be seeing a vet to get his leg checked, and hopefully, it won't be anything too serious - stay safe Bear and enjoy your new life <3
Getting Bear safe was about groups working together - ourselves, Harvey's Army North, DogLost, local volunteers and the wonderful people of Blackburn, who put up with their area being plastered with posters. Posters = sightings and it worked :)

FABULOUS NEWS - but would love to know how, and where he has been since 7 April? if any further details would be really interested as to how a 12yr old family pet could live without his home and family

UPDATE 23/4 - Bear continues to be seen and heard (he sometimes howls at night), around various areas that he visits, we are tracking his movements with the help of your sightings, so it is important that you still ring/text 07429 452 704 or 07792 779 216, if you see him PLEASE DO NOT POST SIGHTINGS ON FACEBOOK. . PLEASE SPREAD THE MESSAGE - IGNORE HIM - we are really struggling with people thinking they can catch him :(. IF HE IS IN A SECURE GARDEN - then please shut the gate :)

UPDATE 18/4 - several sightings of Bear this morning on busy roads :(
Something must have disturbed him about 7.15am, fortunately he now seems to have returned to his 'safe area', where we have food and cameras out to monitor his movements. Trapping is a slow process with a street-wise dog like bear :(.

UPDATE 13/4 - Bear is still being seen over quite a large area, unfortunately well meaning people are still trying to catch him, causing him to run away from the area he is familiar with towards busy roads, fortunately he returned last night, but PLEASE, IF YOU SEE BEAR, IGNORE HIM (unless he is in a secure garden - in which case close the gate!) and CONTACT 07429 452 704 or 07792 779 216.

Spoken to the owner by phone 1:30am this morning 10/04/19. Bear was on Brownhill Road opposite my house close to the end of the street near Parsonage road. Will keep looking for him and update if I can

UPDATE 9/4 - Bear has been seen twice today, so smelly food is out again being monitor by a camera, a second camera will be in use tomorrow. A large trap is now on hand ready to try once he is comfortable feeding.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO IGNORE BEAR IF YOU SEE HIM, JUST REPORT THE SIGHTING.
