I’ve been following the story of barney since I saw posters. I live in the area & always looking out for him. I don’t do Facebook so cannot find where the last sighting was! Any chance of a location?
Have been following this boy since he went missing...all paws and everything xd 🀞 that he will be home now soon...and that he realises that he can be somewhere safe and warm...and rest his weary head...come on lad; time to rest your tired and scared self...rooting for Barney, owners and all involved in trying to get get this lad home - as safe as you can x
Sharing for Barney after this latest sighting. I see a search is being organised at the weekend, I’m just wondering if owner would consider a tracking team with feeding station and cameras - if this is Barney’s safe area it’s best if he stays there. I’ve asked for people not to call or chase but to call owner straight away if seen. Have been sharing since the moment he went missing and have everything crossed for him 🐾Last edited: 2019-06-04 23:20:35 by thedogfinder

Many thanks for contacting Reeds 😊 . Fingers crossed it's not too much longer before he's home πŸ™πŸΎ
I’ve dropped an email to Reed’s School as it’s so close to this sighting, to ask if they could notify caretaker and grounds maintenance staff to be on the alert. I stressed not to try and catch or chase him if he is seen, but to call owner straight away. Have sent poster. paws crossed 🐾
shared latest sighting info on twitter and instagram. tagged lots of local places, It looks close to Oxshott Heath (?) so have tagged people who seem to visit there as well - paws crossed now Barney. please show your nose to someone friendly and let them help you get home. We are all rooting for you Gracie xLast edited: 2019-05-21 00:14:35 by thedogfinder

From Barney's owner "Update : Barney- Missing 10 weeks ...

As you're all aware Barney, our Lurcher Cross went missing on 5th March and has been sighted on the odd occasion, mainly in Whitely Village in April. However, he went to ground for over a month but then re appeared one morning last Monday on West End Lane, Esher and then again near Black Pond off the Portsmouth Road. It's been a week since he was last (positively) sighted until we received a call this evening to say he was seen in the woods off Sandy Lane, Cobham, opposite Milner Drive. The caller tried to coax him to her but said he looked very scared and was extremely weary..... and looked lost. We searched this area tonight but nothing . I'm not sure which way he's now headed- be it towards Cobham/ Oxshott or back over the bridge towards Esher and West End. Please if you're out walking in these areas can you keep a look out and call me.

Thank you again for all your help .xx"
All crossed he's safe and back home...if not where in Esher was he seen? We often walk in the woods there andcan keep an eye out or can help if you're going to be setting up a search party.
POSITIVE SIGHTING OF BARNEY πŸ• yesterday in Esher, Surrey. Camera & BBQ set up. PlS CALL 07903 300482 /07932 763134 ASAP if you see him πŸ™. Come on Barney, come and get the sausages πŸ•β€οΈ

So we now have three confirmed sightings of Barney in and around Whitely Village ; the last one being on Friday which was confirmed last night. He approached a woman who works there and then changed his mind and toddled off. She said he looked fine and didn't look stressed. There are now six people in the village keeping their eyes open including Security and they will contact me if he's seen. I work only five minutes drive away so we've got a good chance of getting to him. Next stage : setting up bbq and finding a tracker. 🐾

Thanks...If you could update with sightings when they come in and copy into admin@doglost.co.uk we can update page and alert local helpers...I dont do social media as too busy with admin... And cannot monitor all posts...Thanks and lets hope we can help Barney...Cosmopolitan if you have any new sightings you can always call me on 01633 673859 so we can help.
There is someone in the nonsuch park dog walkers group on Facebook who has a dog that can, and has , tracked other dogs. However they are not a professional tracker and may not be able to do it for Barney...but it might be worth joining the group and asking the question.
Nina, please may we ask that you know all the facts before posting - as per the post afterwards, Barney's owner was only updated late on Friday about the mentioned sighting, when the lady that saw him called her - which was 2 weeks after spotting him- this is all not helped at all by Elmbridge Borough Council insisting that the posters were to come down - as the lady was not aware it was missing Barney. As we all know posters raise awareness and alert people to call and to act, and in peoples consciousness.

Barney's family could not have done any more to find their beloved boy - they have postered relentlessly, followed up absolutely every single lead, rushing to each and every sighting the moment they have been updated. It is x 6 weeks tomorrow, and they have been through the emotional mill, and now deserve more than ever to have him back safely to them.

They have been badly let down several times on the tracker front, which in itself has been hugely distressing - is there any one that can help as we have positive sightings now after so long - this area is near a main road, and we must get him home safely after all this time, and he was seen near a main road last week when he evaded capture when chased.

Please if anyone can help, please do, as this dear boy needs to return to his family and loving home xxx

We finally received a call late Friday afternoon confirming a positive sighting of Barney which we haven't had for over five weeks. He was spotted 1st April around Burview Hall, Queen road , KT13 area. More posters have been put up in and around Walton on Thames and Weybridge. I then received a call yesterday from a resident in Whitely Village confirming two sightings last Wednesday and Thursday morning which is fantastic. We can now focus on this area and have been back several times already . Is there any tracker that can help us bring him home please ? We could really use your help to bring him home. πŸ™πŸΎ
Nina, I think owner only just found out about sighting on 1st April...that is my interpreation of comments on Doglost Surrey FB page.

Poor dog. What a shame owner is not keeping doglost up to date with sightings. Hope admin can bump this one.
BARNEY SIGHTING 1st April - Owner just posted this on Twitter this morning - have shared on twitter & instagram - please share to all other social media you have too - this was 2 weeks ago now “Update-Barney was sighted on 1st April near Burview Hall off the Queens Road, Weybridge KT13. He’s dirtier and thinner now than he usually looks ...and still scruffy . Please can you check your gardens and sheds in case he’s taken shelter so can we can get him home safe very soon” 🐾🐾

Just rang dog wardens about this found lurcher. https://doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=142484
Confirmed as Not Barney.. completely cream all over.
I was just wondering if there has been any news on Barney as he has been missing for such a long time. Love to his family. Roni xxxxxxxxxxx
Hi Sheri, thanks for the update, poor dog, I hope someone can get to him as sounds very precarious for all. Someone somewhere must have some knowledge of Barney, it is four long weeks on Tuesday since he disappeared xxx
We have all tagged authorities into the tweet of the dog on A13 near the M25 junction. It was later last night. I'll retweet. This poor dog is in a dangerous place for himself and drivers. Hope we can get help to get him/her safe. Does have similar look of Barney but Gayle was able to rule him out. XX shez🐾
Hi Gayle -wishing this so badly to be Barney - did you get a chance to see the dog to rule in or out? xxx
Gracie Macy
There’s been a sighting this afternoon of a sandy coloured lurcher very similar to Barney ON the A13 close to the M25 junction . Unfortunately it’s not our boy but we need to get this dog home . Please share x

There's been another sighting of a young labrador type dog seen yesterday around 4.30pm in Rabbit Lane, near Whitely Village, Hersham (KT12 area). I've just received a call from a the kind man thinking it might've been Barney but sadly not. Has anyone reported a dog fitting this description ? I think this could be the same dog sighted on Sunday late afternoon on the Seven Hills Road and Whitely Village. He's very scared and full of energy. Fingers crossed he gets home safely.

Hi Gayle, I am so desperately sad for you that Friday's sighting was not the lead that looked so promising, given its location to where he went missing from. Could he get home from where you were walking from on the 5th March? - as there are lots of posts suggesting laying a scent trail for him to follow back home if he has got very disorientated.I walked miles and miles this weekend in Oxshott area where we were last weekend, trying to see if he could have got stuck anywhere, I can not imagine what you are all going through, and praying and praying that there is a sighting today that can lead you to him. Please let us know if we can help as we feel useless Alison xxx

From Barney's owner It’s almost been two weeks since Barney our Lurcher disappeared from his evening walk on 5th March in the KT11 area . The last positive sighting was on Friday 8th near the centre of Cobham in a gated housing estate . We’re desperately worried about the old fella’s health and safety; he’s ten years old and under went a large lung operation before Christmas . Please can you help bring him home as we’re beyond bereft . πŸ˜”

£1000 reward to whoever brings him home safely .

Have set Barney with his own # on Twitter. Please share as much as you can to get this little man home xxx #LostBarney

If it is just that the council will take them down and no financial penalty then I would be tempted to let the council do the taking down......and then replace them.
Hi - I am not sure, as the owners obviously are fully committed to spending all of their time searching for him and I believe that the Council will start taking them down if not but i may be wrong here. I believe they had a complaint from a resident but I suspect it is one and a definite minority small minded person who has nothing positive or better things to do than to try and help bring Barney home to his family xxx
What are the consequences if the posters are not taken down? Sometimes social media shaming works better than writing to the relevant bodies. I would be contacting the media about their attitude.
Hi -a number of us have written to the Council as Elmbridge council tax payers to counter balance their argument. The posters are not offensive, and everyone I have met dog walking and whilst searching etc have been totally in support, including those that live near where there was a positive sighting last Friday PM, and just want to help. Fingers crossed he comes out of hiding today xxx
Elmbridge borough council should have more compassion...
Please can everyone in the postcode KT11 Cobham, Surrey help in looking for this lovely chap, Barney, missing now since 5th March, and 9 nights in this weather. He is poorly and needs to get home asap to his family who are doing everything possible and beyond to help find him. Elmbridge Borough Council have given the family until Monday to take all the posters down which they have put up in their search for him, and as we know, once posters are not reminding everyone that a dog is still lost, they are less likely to keep searching whilst dog walking etc. Time is ticking, and we need to find Barney fast, so please everyone try and find him if he is hiding and let his family know so they can take him home Alison xxx

Have tweeted out the new info below and tagged him into some additional places on the other side of the A3 now on instagram. Hope people will put two and two together if they see him. If anyone is on Facebook please update the info and tag him into the location Elm Farm or Surbiton Golf Club if poss. Paws crossed: do you think he’s trying to head home ? Come on Barney! Show your nose again soon so you can get back to Gayle and your nice warm bed 🐾🐾

Mon 11th March : We've been back this morning at 6.30am to the area where Barney was seen twice yesterday, next to the A3 north bound near the Hook under pass (access via Elm Farm , Claygate) but nothing. It looks like he's crossed the A3 via a storm drain or an underpass for horse riders. Have spoken to the farmer, Surbiton gold club and various livery stables in the area. One of which will notify horse riders via their own social media group so fingers crossed we get another sighting today.
DogLostJulie - Social Media Team, Surrey
From Barney's owner "Day 5: we've had two sightings in the same area( four hours apart) north bound A3 near the Hook underpass . Still no Barney but I will return there at day break so at least it's a bit quieter .... and lighter " Anyone in the area please keep an eye out and if sighted ring owner. J. x

UK - owners of Barney are aware and in the area although not confirmed this is Barney at the moment.

Day 4 Sat 9th March:
We’ve spent the day plastering Barney posters in and around Cobham and parts of Oxshott so there’s no excuse if anyone comes across him not to get in contact . A massive thank you to my friends ( including new friends ) and family for helping us out today . We couldn’t have done this without you 😘.
We’ve been out again this evening retracing our steps and the area as to where Barney was last sighted last night but unfortunately no news as of yet . Will try again tomorrow
