So has the man found his dog ?
Carolin
Richard - I've looked at the post and seems to be a small, young Schnauzer Walliswood Woods. Dog warden, Chris Bedell, is aware and has posted your link to Poppy just in case. There was a man looking for his lost dog which wasn't wearing leopard print coat. The update was 3 hours ago today so 12 noon approx. Seems to be dog and owner related.
Rjbennie
Hi,

Desperately trying to get more info on the sighting listed on surrey dog owners facebook page. Closed group and still awaiting moderator verification. Is anyone on this group that can get more info? Location, colour of schnauzer, time, date etc. Ready to get out searching but need to know more.

Hello, I've seen this on face book, hoping it's poppy x
Nicole
I keep thinking about Poppy. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to help with the search today. Praying for some positive news tomorrow x
Rjbennie
A big thank you to those who searched with us today!! Unfortunately still no luck, no sightings, no leads ...

Please could Poppy's page be bumped in view of the search organised for tomorrow....worth updating her name to say 'Poppy, search organised 2/12/18'
Rjbennie
We would be enormously grateful if anyone is available tomorrow for another search of the area. We'll be meeting at 10 a.m. on the Green at Buckland. RH3 7BH and trying to organise groups to cover the area.

Many thanks in advance!!

Rjbennie
Oh, I see. Obviously new to this so didn't realise that's how it works.

Thanks!
nalamissing
And update the Doglost Surrey FB post with the details...
nalamissing
I think you may find that if you publicise a time and a place people will turn up even if they don't contact you, that has happened with other dogs.
Rjbennie
Nalamissing- thanks for the tip. I've had no responses so assumed no one would come. I have family members and one other lady who contacted me coming today.

nalamissing
Richard, perhaps a good idea to publish a time wand place where people could meet and allocate areas to search to different groups?
Rjbennie
Hi Everyone,

Hopeful that we might be able to get some people together this weekend for more searching. Anyone able to walk routes leading from the A25 between Buckland and Dorking heading south (brockham side), checking hedgerows/ditches/gardens/outbuildings. These are the areas the tracker dog took us towards so still hopeful.

Any assistance enormously appreciated.

Richard

Network rail also have been tagged into all our Tweets for Poppy
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
annieb725 - yes Network Rail have been contacted and a reference number given. Tiga did not track towards the tracks and they are well fenced and even at the crossing closeby - a dog would find it difficult to get onto tracks.
annieb725
apologies if this has already been suggested, i might have missed it reading the posts, but has anyone been in touch with the railway staff as i see her home is not far from Betchworth station? Dogs do seem to be attracted towards railway lines
Rjbennie
Thanks Jenny,

I've postered around buckland and also betchworth golf club routes. Got them into pubs local shops etc. Met many walkers out again today, Many of whom were already aware from fb, posters etc. Word definitely getting out there.

Still walking, still hoping ...
Jenny & Tiga k9tracker
If anyone is available to print off any posters from this page and put them up in the Buckland, Betchworth, Brockham areas including the Golf Clubs and Rugby club and also along the A25 between Buckland and Dorking it would be much appreciated by Richard.
Rjbennie
Many thanks for the advice on the golf club. Definitely going to spend some time focusing there and speaking to grounds staff.

sorry posted on wrong dogLast edited: 2018-11-28 18:51:06 by Skywalker99
DogLostOwl
Hi Richard, I would definitely take the search to the golf club. Dogs on the run gravitate towards them as they are peaceful with various kinds of shelter including sheds, and there are sometimes food scraps around. Over my years of tracking missing dogs I have learned that old dogs usually go further than you would think possible. I would advise you to get in touch with the golf club and ask them to ask their ground staff to watch out for her.
Rjbennie
Hi Everyone,

I've been out all day with the amazing Jenny and Tiga tracking poppy.

No luck, sadly, but he did pick up a scent heading west on the a25 to dorking (southern footpath). The weather wasn't great so he may have lost it somewhere but was really determined to pull us in that direction. It may seem a long shot but it's possible she's gone further than we thought her capable of! Betchworth golf club, brockham, Strood green all possibilities. Anyone able to help spread the word/search in those areas would be really helpful. Gardens sheds etc.

Many thanks everyone.

Keeleys Pet Service tweeted -

I've emailed your poster of Poppy directly to Medivet in Brockham RH1, as they are the closest vet by the looks of it. Just in case she has been sent their way. Hoping she is found safe soon. πŸ™πŸΆπŸ’•

It says on the thread on the Doglost Surrey Facebook group that poppy was wearing the grey leopard skin print coat she is wearing in the top picture on here when she wandered off.Last edited: 2018-11-27 19:50:10 by Skywalker99

Minia - a mutual friend of ours has contacted me about Poppy and I will be in touch with you.
Minia
Hi, my lovely friend has kindly been posting as me as I've been frantic for 2 days. Thank you so much for offers of help.I have contacted Jenny so waiting for her to get back to me. We have searched so many places, gardens, sheds, outhouses etc, it makes no sense at all where she has gone. If anyone would like to look anywhere then around the radius of buckland is where she must be somewhere. Thankyou.

Than you for looking into this and letting is know. We'll research too. Obviously after these two cold nights, and at her advanced age hope is fading fast. We'd just like to find her, whatever the outcome:(
Fluffbug
Mina, It's me again. I have just found a contact who says that there is a "Jenny Brown" who is a doglost volunteer and she has a Beagle tracker dog and she did live in Kent! I have written an email to her
(I think) but I'm not good with technology so am not sure if I got the right site! Perhaps someone on here who sees this can let us know if Jenny is still volunteering in the area.Last edited: 2018-11-27 00:25:41 by Fluffbug

Mina, I have been looking on the internet to see what I can find. I'm only sorry that I didn't think of this hours ago so I've just started looking. A Local Search and Rescue organization might agree to help if there is one in your area. Just need to find one. Your local Police might know of one, if you look up any Dog Trainers who specialize in training dogs to track, they might know of someone who has recently done their training who might be able to help. I'll keep looking. Can anyone else suggest anyone who might know? Last edited: 2018-11-26 23:31:21 by Fluffbug

@Fluffbug how do you find a tracker dog?

Has anyone looked for a Tracker Dog in this area? It looks like the kind of area where there might be Tracking Rescue organizations that might help.Last edited: 2018-11-26 23:21:05 by Fluffbug

Thanks Minia Poppy's owner Richard is on Facebook & is now on a thread on Doglost Surrey
Minia
Owners aren’t on fb but advert went on and has been shared. Blankets and clothes have been left outside and a sausage bbq will be lit, hopefully she will follow the smell back home. Thank you very much for all the support so far, Poppy is still not found and owners are devastated Last edited: 2018-11-26 18:37:14 by Minia

It's difficult to know what has been advised as I can't see a post on Facebook from yourself (assuming you are on there) Have you put out Poppy's bedding/blanket & an item of your worn clothing in an area where it can be kept dry & left an entrance open (if safe to do so) Again, aoplogies if this has been mentioned & done
JAY D
P.S. The Highways Authority for Mole Valley is Surrey County Council I believe, so you would need to call them to advise on Poppy.
DogLostBattersea Dogs HomeBattersea
We have made a report at Battersea for Poppy but no news yet. We will contact owner if she is brought in or reported to us.
JAY D
As I don't have the full postcode I have done a search on Buckland RH3, Highways should be called too due to the proximity of the A25.The railway track is approx 1/2 a mile away have you contacted National Rail to make them aware of Poppy. There also appears to be a several water sources fairly close - Buckland pond, what appears to be a lake & Shag Brook these need to be checked frequently. Network Rail no. 03457114141 Apologies if this has already been mentioned & done.
Rjbennie
Hi. Apologies for the duplicate. A kind friend registered but we hadn't realised.

Still searching :/
BorderCol
Is it certain she has left the garden? Very old dogs often seem to just walk until they get stuck in a bush or between a shed and a fence. Hope she is soon found.
JEAN
Carolin on the duplicated post for Poppy ID 137423 it states From garden in Buckland, Betchworth.

Sorry to see that POPPY BLIND AND DEAF is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (137421)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
