I have to say we're pretty lucky here in Suffolk with our Police, who believe in 'community'! Well done for their care and hard work - and you can see how happy these lucky owners are!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I got the call I was hoping for first thing thank you so much Cassie's dad! I am so happy and it's made my whole year, but I could never believe Cassie wouldn't be home one day soon. I've lived and breathed these two courageous little dogs ever since I first heard and would never have given up on them. The Police get a lot of credit for acting and thank goodness they did, but the credit really goes the determination and commitment of this wonderful family and their brave little dogs. Their lives have been turned upside down but they've been a real inspiration. Shadey would have slipped through the net if they had not been so determined not to leave any stone unturned, and the same with Cassie. It's not been easy for them to face the media and remain at the end of a phone for so long when their hearts were breaking, and I'm just so glad that it was all worthwhile. As for the people who put them through all this, I don't know what to say... Welcome home little dogs I can't wait to see you soon. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know the feeling when my Harley was found!!! Perhaps my Essex drivers delivery of posters helped. I will get him, a drink(or two). Don't let them out of your sight. We dog owners (sorry people who are owned by dogs have a responsibility). Have a glass of wine to celebrate as I did. You do not know me, that is what is great about Dog Lost. We may never meet, but we are all there for each other. Give them both a cuddle from me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Agree this does sound starnge and yes there are different chips which some scanners might not pick up. A lot depends on when the chip was put in as well. Your nan should have the chip company details at home why not give then a ring and ask their opinion. As far as the poice obtaining the BT number- sadly they to are not able to get this information unless it is an excetional high profile case such as murder and then it needs a lot of paper work to obtain this. This is not to say that if you have doubts about this person you could inform the police as sounds very supicios. Tell your grandpaernts not to divulge ANY information to this woman especially the chip number . if you are still worried then phone HQ or pm a co-ordinator and ask them to ring you. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What strange phone calls sounds highly suspicious, why would it matter to anyone about the make of scanner etc if someone is genuine. Is the area code local to you? It may point you in another direction to look and poster. BT would not be able to give you the number and the police would have to have a valid reason to get it -Data Protection and all that red tape stuff. Hope Cassie is home soon. Take Care. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Angie I would get the police to check the number out with BT find out where it is and go there a.s.a.p. Bt will find out where it is straight away but I would think they go via police. Good Luck. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Anige - there are different companies that make the chips. Most places near me now use a multi scanner which picks them all up. Give Jayne a call at HQ and she will explain this in more detail for you. Strange that the lady is asking all these questions yet not telling you who she is. When you speak to Jayne get some advice.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A lady has been calling my nanna and granddad with regards to cassie, she has failed to give her name even though asked numerious times, my granddad also asked her telephone number so that he could call her if we find out anything but failed to provide, the number that we evently got from her, also goes to an office answer phone saying that the office is closed. she keeps asking about cassie's micro chip, where she got it done, what make it is what vets she had the chip put in and the type of scanner it needs to pick this up. All sounds a little strange to me. i have told my Granddad not to provide this information to her when she calls again. Anyone have any ideas to why someone would want to know these. THANK YOU Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My Nanna and granddad have had a few issues with shadey's chip, it is there and now have found it, however the scanning machines that was used when the young lad took shadey in didn't work and the first one that stow vets used also didnt work, they found another machine and that picked the chip up. The vets are looking into the machines they are being tested, however this could mean that other scanning machines do not work. which then inturn could put a delay on all dogs being reunited with their owners. Including little Cassie. Thank you all for you help. xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Fly, Beardies and I have been round the Asda site. Apparently posters put up on fence outside are being taken down. Don't think we can rule this out yet. Shadey's chip was not picked up several times by Ipswich vet, and it seems their machine was not working. If it had been he could have been back 2 wks ago. Word of advice to everyone, when you get your dogs/cats checked by vets get them to check the chip too! Also anyone in the Capel St. Mary area keep your dogs locked up, there are travellers there on their way to a Horse Fair. Anglia News link on Shadey & Cassie is well worth watching, please everyone do have a look. Cassie needs to be home with her family now. I hope someonee finds Cassie after being in the paper. i emailed the EADT with the details of our dogs but no one has contacted me about a story, i belive they were taken by gypsys and could be anywere. I know that many dogs are going missing just ask dog lost so how they can say this is rare in the paper i don't know. we went to the mid suffolk show on Sunday and drove through a village with lots of posters up about a Lab that was missing. it might be worth the owners to go to all the pubs in the area as this is wear a lot of dogs are sold on may be SHADAY did not get the price for who ever had him and he was abandon it may well be that the other dog was sold and the owner should make esquires starting from that pub if anyone had brought a dog from there, and then ask at other pubs and ask if they would put up a poster. As for the police this is what we can expect now from them, but for the RSPCA if I was the owner I would get in touch with some one in authority and report this they are suppose to be a registered charity for Animals.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Excellent idea Lankeela. I'm not great on geography but was Shadey found about 17 miles away from where they went missing? If so surely these two could not get that far on their own so the Police should be getting more involved. Push them re the theft and if they don't help complain to the higher ups! RSPCA beggar belief re Shadey so I would chase them too in case they have any reports on Cassie. Also keep trying your local authority just in case Cassie has been reported as found. I'm an old cynic but there is something strange about Shadeys story so I would check out all that I'd been told by finders, vets, etc. Stay safe little girl, please come home soon.x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Friends are going to poster later today if anyone else can do any please help as the more the better. Ive spoken to the owner and Shadey was found cold and wet in the Freston boot car park 2 weeks ago !! As the lady who found him didnt get any help from Police or RSPCA a friend of hers took the dog to Hadleigh, when she went to a grave yesterday in Bramford she saw the poster. He was taken to a vet in Ipswich after being found to see if he had a chip yet the vet didnt find it. When taken to the owners vet today they found the chip straight away. Ive said to go to the papers today as someone else may have found Cassie and not know she was stolen.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm delighted Shadey is back, but don't quite buy the story. Dachs usually stick together. Pokice telling them to turn the dog loose, so maybe cause an accident? Could land them in hot water and the RSPCA? They would surely have checked for a microchip or made an offer My gut feeling is to pursue the Shadey route. Maybe more questions could be answered, or am I just an old cynic? Wishing you a speedy return with Cassie xxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

GOOD NEWS, Shadey Has been found He's now home and safe, he was found and brought home. He was found at the Freston Boot Pub near shotley. he had been living with a couple that took him on a for a few weeks. The police was informed by the people that had taken shadey home and was told that if they didn't want him to let him go and will piked up by some one else. The RSPCA also showed no interest in the fact of a dog being found. So he is home and safe and very happy. We now just need to find Cassey. Then the family will be complete. thank you all for your help and surport. xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Mean't to say in my last post that it was the Paul O'Grady website I emailed. My sister used to go to see this and the Alan Titchmarsh show (free tickets available on the sites) being made. Anyone got any contacts for the Loose Women show? If anyones going to these shows can they take posters and be a bit cheeky? PLEASE - ANYONE READING - EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE AREA - PLEASE GET SOME POSTERS EMAILED OR GIVEN OUT (SORRY TO SHOUT)!!! Cassie & Shadey are two elderly dogs that belong to elderly people - need I say more!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

These two need AS MUCH PUBLICITY AS POSS NOW as they could have been passed on to innocent people anywhere who need to know that they have a loving home and heartbroken family who need them back. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Beardies - I couldn't find the missing/stolen dogs on the website, only the ones for rehoming. Have sent an email to the general enquires asking if they can give this little pair a mention. Not holding my breath as they seemed to stop doing stolen & missing dogs a while ago, but you never know.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have two miniature longhaired dachshunds myself and can't stop thinking about these two little ones, it's just heartbreaking. You are all doing a wonderful job trying to find them and making them "too hot to handle" and I just hope and pray they will be found safe and well and reunited with their owners where they belong. I'm not in the area but I've posted their details to a dog forum and a dachshund forum - both UK based. Stay safe little ones xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
