Hi Jane. Have you tried putting posters up in Broad Lane and surrounding roads? If you mentioned a reward maybe this would get some results? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jane, don't go on your own to see the travellers. We have a good group of people in this area and it may be worth us all meeting up to poster etc. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jane thanks for the update. As you are still getting calls the posters are still working which is very good. The found dog on DL I noticed and compared the picture with Meg. She does look very much like Meg and thanks to the helper for contacting you. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken to someone who lives on New Cut Lane who knows Meg. She said that she had seen a Jack Russell as well but it wasn't Meg as this dog had a tail (Meg only has a bit of a tail). However since then I got a strange phone call from a lady with a broad lancashire accent from a phone box in Formby ( found this out by 1471) who said that a dog looking like Meg is in Broad lane, Formby, and gave a house number. Broad Lane is where travellers have settled. I asked if she lived there and she said not. My husband drove down and spoke to some traveller women who had seen "nuthin". The propertys were not numbered that he could see so could not tell which one was the number given. I will drive down tomorrow but am a bit apprehensve. I spoke to another member of Dog Lost regarding a dog that was found (on this site) in Rochdale. She does have a look of Meg but it isn't her. Thanks to you all Jane.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks J MO for your help with the postering etc. Meg belongs to an elderly person who is in a nursing home. Jane is not his owner but was looking after Meg. The sightings have not been confirmed as definite but as soon as they are then what you suggested can be done. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Has the owner put scent trails down? It may be worth outting smelly food down or Meg's blanket or anything with a smell that she may recognise and see whether that encourages her to show herself again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope it's her Jane, ask the farm across from the RSPCA if you can search, there is a private house next to the shelter with a lot of land behind it. Poster the area from the Crown pub and shops in Birkdale down New Cut Lane, the stables and farms.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jane fingers crossed it is Meg. Very often people do not ring up straight away as they may not see a poster until well after the sighting. The area needs to be postered, contact the police and DW again. Check with the vets and if not already leave a poster. Fingers crossed you get that most important call and she is home soon with her owner. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jane thanks for updating us. Sorry to see Meg is still missing. We cannot stress enough to owners the importance of regularly checking police, DW and local rescues visiting in person at least once a week. Fingers crossed Meg will be found soon. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had a friend of mine check all the found dogs in Lancs central and Southern Police distrcts. There were some that could possibly be Meg from the description on the report ( none were) but I had not been notified by any of them. In fact all the reports prior to 01/08/07 had been wiped from their system. There was a Jack Russell bitch that had been handed into a vets inteh Preston area, I spoke to the vets and they said it looked like she had been lost for a while as she was very thin. How can these dogs ever be reunited with the sort of system that the police operate. Obviously micro chipping is the answer but I can't turn the clock back and get Meg done. Thanks again for all your help - it's been 3 weeks and a day hope is very thin.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Is anyone available on Saturday to poster around the Estate by the hospital? I will put one through the door of the Ormskirk Advertiser. They usually put them in the paper.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks J Mo, it must have beenyou that put Meg's poster in Gregory's garage. I am going to poster Ormskirk this week. I put some more up in Kew Estate. The dog warden at Skelmersdale thought that she had found Meg but it wasn't her. I'm missing her desparately and can only think that she has ben stolen due to the time elapsed. Forever hoping her safe return, thanks again for all your help, JaneLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jane can you pm me or phone with the details of the other sightings please? (even if not Meg). Need posters at the hospital at Town Lane, bus stops round there, shops at Kew roundabout, the Pageant pub, chip shop, KGV field. There is some grassland at the side of Tescos and opposite needs searching and posters put up (we did this with Angel).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A man rang up yesterday morning saying that he saw a dog fitting Meg's description on Saturday 28th July 2007 running around the Kew estate (a modern housing estate not far from where she went missing from). He says that teh dog he saw had something blue tied around it's neck! There was nothing blue on her when she went. I've put a poster up in the Spar shop on the estate - they wanted paying as well, what a community spirit!! It's a bit of hope but I am sure that someone on the estate would have got hold of her if it was Meg. I've had a few other sightings following a newspaper report I've put in but the dogs have never really fitted Meg's description. Fingers crossed. JaneLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'll do Tesco's at Southport, we did have one ready to go up there but it got put at a popular dog walking spot instead. My husband usually goes to the Woodvale Rally I'll ask him to try to get some put up at the entrance. Thanks for the tips.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am the loser of Meg and thank you all or your help. The only thing that is not right on the "poster" is that she is not spayed, she was actually booked into be done tomorrow (31/07/07). Maybe this is why she ran of!! I have contacted the Wood Green Animal Centre and they have not had any Jack Russells in since Meg went missing. Keeping everything crossed that she is found safe and well. Thanks again. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Two similar dogs in Preston RSPCA but not Meg. Hopefully "owners" will register, they have contacted everyone. Meg got out from under the garden fence and had vanished within ten minutes.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

All rescues have been emailed Meg'sposter. The people looking after Meg have contacted police, Halewood & Preston RSPCA's, Leigh Dogs Home, Freshfields, visiting regularly and have postered, Meg was featured in the Southport Visiter and they were not aware of this site. Meg was wearing a collar and tag with her owner's number on which the neighbours are checking. "Owners", please print off posters and display everywhere- taxis, bus stops, supermarkets, pubs, garages, Royal Mail sorting office, pet shops, vets, car boot sales etc.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
