- Hi everyone. Just an update to say there have been no recent sightings or calls re. Toby. We are almost certain someone must has taken him as there hasn't been a positive sighting since the moment he went missing. We still miss him like crazy and Tizer is a totally different (quieter!) dog without his best buddy!. Just wish Toby was here with us. Thank you all again for your help and support. - Kathryn I have sent you details of a found dog which helper glynafon had left on Eddie S72 page 22.08.07. As there is a few borders and other dogs in areas not far from each would be helpful if you all teamed up and looked out for each other dog if not already doing so. - Thank you all so much for your messages of support it really does help to stay positive. Not heard anything unfortunately from the posters sent out on the back of the milk bills but it was worth a try. Just keeping my fingers crossed that it was him in Mossley and that hopefully we'll get the phone call we've been waiting for very soon! Stay save little man. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Lovely picture of Toby for the poster. If you have dog insurance, worth checking your policy to see if it covers advertising and reward. You may have already done it, but also worth sending his detail to your local breed and rescue clubs. Might be worth having some credit card size photos made with his photo on one side and a contact number on the back. Easy for people to carry......hope he is home soonxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- That sounds positive, do you have a postcode where the sighting was? then local helpers can be emailed. Do scent trail areas of any sightings to keep him in the area. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Had two phones calls today after a few days of nothing - one sounds quite hopeful in that a woman saw a dog of Toby's description last Friday running up the highstreet in Top Mossley but she only saw Toby's poster today. She and another woman tried to catch the dog but they said he was very scared and ran away from them. She is going to ring again if she spots him. She said they have a police station in Mossley so it may be worth contacting them, which I'm going to do first thing tomorrow and also put some more posters up in that area. I also have A5 posters which have been printed on the back of 300 milk bills which the local milkman is due to send out this week. Hopefully this will prick someone's conscience if he is being kept locally. Fingers crossed. Stay safe little man, miss you terribly :-(Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I'm Toby's Uncle Matt :) Taken me ages to register on here but I keep popping by to check if everything is ok. Fingers crossed and all that. I have a picture of him as my avatar on various internet messageboards. He's been noticed in some of the more exotic parts of the world like Leigh, St Helens and Hull. Chin up Kathryn, he'll be back before you know it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thank you for the information - Toby is actually registered at McConnell's vet's and both practices have posters up of him in there receptions. I have also faxed copies of the poster through to vets further afield just in case. Posters are working as I am receiving at least one call a day on adverage with possible sightings but unfortunately non of the descriptions match. Continue to visit/ring Marina, Springfield and Manchester Dogs Home on a regular basis. I'm really becoming concerned for our other dog now though Tizer, Toby's dad. He's not eating at all and just mopes around the house - he's missing Toby terribly. They were inseperable, they ate, slept, played together and never left each others sides. WHERE are you Toby? - It'll be a week today at 5.30pm that Toby went missing! Toby's father Tizer is missing him greatly - he is very subdued and has gone off his food! They had been together ever day for the last 15 months and never left each others sides. Please come home soon little man! We have only had a couple of leads. One from a lady whom had seen a dog of similar description twice whilst walking her dogs. I followed this up but it turned out the dog belonged to some workmen renovating a house nearby. I have received another call this morning from someone in Marsden who had seen the posters and recalls a sign in a shop saying a dog had been found in Mardsen and was been kept at the Shakespeare pub. I'm going to ring in a moment, fingers crossed. I also received a call yesterday from the Mountain Rescue who have kindly offered to do a search exercise over the moors today. They have a dog trained to find people lost on the moors and will be taking him out with them in the hope he can locate Toby, if he is lost out there. Stay safe Toby XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thanks bbg. The Manchester Dogs Home gave us PetMedics number on the saturday after Toby went missing and I rang them that day and left details of Toby. Do you think it is worth keep ringing them or do you think they would contact us if they had a dog matching Toby's description taken in? Feeling really low today - just want you home little man! Emailed poster to lots of Border Terrier Clubs today and asked if they would kindly forward on to any contact they have up north.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi Babs - Thank you for the offer of help, much appreciated. Toby went missing on the A62 road to Huddersfield above Diggle village on the stretch over to Marsden. Not sure how familiar you are with the area but he went missing from the stables behind what used to be The Floating Light Public House, Stanedge. I have been out again today putting more posters on fence posts etc around the immediate surrounding area. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- No news as yet but a very productive day in the search for Toby! Gave posters to the local sorting office, mobile library and faxed through to 6 vets in surrounding areas. Placed posters in shops in both Diggle and Marsden and erected a large sign at the side of the road from where he went missing. Also placed posters on fence posts on the public footpaths in the surrounding area. Rang Oldham and Kirklees Dog Wardens. Visited Manchester Dogs home again. Rang Springfield Kennels, Marina Kennels, RSPCA at Oldham, Bleak Holt Animal Rescue and Pike View Animal Rescue. Also contacted Network Rail and Oldham and Kirklees Highway Patrols and no incidents involving dogs have been reported, thank goodness! I have also placed a four day advertisement in the Oldham Evening Chronicle and also the Huddersfield Examiner. Missing you terribly Toby, keep safe. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Hi - I'm Kathryn, Toby's owner. Thank you all so much for your messages and support. We have been to Manchester Dogs home yesterday and again today. We also went to Marina Kennels in Huddersfield yesterday and rang again today. We have contacted the Oldham and Huddersfield police, local vets and I have put some small posters through the letterboxes of houses around the area where he disappeared. I have also put poster in two pubs nearby. The area is remote and just backs onto open moorland but has a busy 'A' road running past which links Oldham to Huddersfield, so we are going to put a large poster on a board tomorrow at the side of the road. I am going to contact the Dog Wardens tomorrow who cover Oldham and Huddersfield and the RSPCA Shelters. I am also going to place an advert in the Oldham Chronicle and Advertiser and also find out the local newspaper covering Marsden and Huddersfield. Thank you all again for you help and support. Sending scenting instructions done by Sherlock as Toby could possibly find his way home, also smaller posters. Owner has contacted Marina Kennels, local police stations and will contact DW tomorrow. - As soon as admin received a picture posters can be emailed to helpers and they need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, petshops, ask postman (go to sorting office), milkmen, refuge collectors, taxi drivers, schools, youth clubs, pubs, takeaway shops, dog training clubs and deliver to houses etc. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. Check Police stations and Dog Warden. RSPCA and rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Toby. xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
