The dog is seen was in the triangle shaped grassed area. I have asked my 14 year old daughter and wife if they have seen the dog but they havent. I havent seen that dog since. I would put posters up for you but my printer is currently on the blink but if your ever over here the shop would put a poster up for you free of charge. I'm sure if you mailed a poster to the primary school the headmaster would put it up in the school for you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Ash! We have been to Rigside and surrounding area a dozen times in the last few days, but not seen him anywhere. Did you mean the triangular grass area on the corner of Muirfoot or the park in the middle? We have been up at night and during the day, but no luck. If you could possibly put up some posters for us in the area, we would be very grateful, as with 3 young children its difficult to get there regularly! Do you know anyone in the area with a dog like him? Its just been so long now and I still miss him like crazy!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I live in the village of Rigside and I may have seen this dog in the village about 2 or 3 days ago. I cannot be positive it was this dog but since I owned a dog that looks like this one I remember thinking that at the time I seen it. it was on its own running around a grass area at the bottom of muirfoot road in Rigside. As the webmaster for the Rigside & Douglas Water website I have added details to the site today for you. Let me know if you find Monty, Now I have seen this I will let you know if I see the dog again and keep a lookout! The Rigside & Douglas Water Website http://rigsidedw.50webs.com Anyone else who has a lost dog in the area and would like me to post details on the website just email me at rigsidedw@yahoo.comLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

UPDATE! Could anyone in the Lesmahagow area please poster or ask around for me as there has been a sighting here two days ago! Jayne, could you also change the poster for me to say we are offering a ?500 reward? Thankyou! We are trawling the area and hopefully covering the pubs and shops etc, but as we don't know the area very well, we can't be sure we're getting all the social places or not?! Any help please?!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Peco. Now got an appeal on earthrunningdog,(thanks Bryan) and also a bit on our local radio station, formerly Clan FM. Still not a sign of him anywhere! Hope to collar the postie next to see if he will give out posters for me. Strange thing, but all my posters on our road have been ripped down...even more reason to think he's been stolen. They would have picked him as he is sooo friendly and the other pointers look really ferocious and more distinct markings etc, but god knows! My 3 young kids were in the yard yesterday blowing dandelion heads. When I asked them what they were doing, they said they were making a wish that Monty would come home soon. It just breaks my heart to think that somebody out there can do this to my children and sleep and night!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another site worth trying is Earthdogrunningdog.com Like I said, Monty might be spotted in hunting circles, and people who are into hunting tend to use hunting websites and forums. It might increase your chances of finding him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Monty may have been stolen for hunting use. There tons of hunting websites, many with message boards/forums, such as shootingtimes.co.uk which carry notices of lost and stolen dogs. Doglost is a great site and has many advantages over other sites, but don't ignore others. In searching for a Parson Russell Terrier or a Patterdale I came across loads of hunting sites recently, and was surprised at how many posts there are about dogs listed as lost or stolen. I didn't bookmark them though, but Google should throw up a few of them is you search.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks EH! Rang Coatbridge Dog Rescue and got the local council! Ooops! Correct number is 0141 649 3618 for anyone needing it. Had a possible lead from Cleansing, which was really gross about a dog in a bin bag near Coalburn quarry. The bag was gone when then arrived and the Motherwell Police have no details of who the caller was or colour/type of dog! Have put up posters including the reward near the dog walkers track but keeping everything crossed that it isn't my boy. I am now even considering Anne Dee the animal psychic to see if she can help!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If you look on www.scottish-kennels.com/dog-rescue.html they show one centre in Lanark and one in Coatbridge. It may also be worth contacting the Dog and Cat Homes in Edinburgh and Glasgow and the Dog's Trust centre at West Calder. The pet shop in Biggar might know some more places you could try. I wonder if these two disappearances in the area had anything to do with the Biggar Show on Saturday?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can someone give me a list of all the smaller animal shelters in South Lanarkshire as the only one I've tried is Bothwell and the main HQ for the SSPCA in Edinburgh? Saw another dog missing in our local PO today that disappeared the same day....just coincidence?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry forgot to add...he does wander off at times as he can scale 6ft fences to go rabbiting, but he never misses coming back for dinner. All three of our dogs live outside in the stables but are shut up at night. When we went into the yard at 7.30pm he was with us, but when we did our final check for the night at midnight he was gone.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Monty is still nowhere to be found. We have walked over Tinto Hill at the Symington side as we are on the A73 Abington to Lanark road. We have also checked all the verges, main roads and side roads for a 5 mile radius. Don't want to think the worst, but have to look! Spoke to council who were really unhelpful, Bothwell Bridge is closed on a Monday and can't find email address to send them a poster. Gave poster to postman and spoke to local haylage man who reckons he's possibly stolen as he's heard of another one missing a couple of weeks ago with no sign anywhere! Local police (Biggar) have taken details and rung Lanark. I still believe he's alive and someone somewhere has him, but may well be out of the county by now. He's a well known agility and sheep/horse dog so unlikely that anyone would risk taking him to our local vets! Any more ideas as to what we can do to find him as this dog helped me out of my wheelchair after a bad road accident so is worth his weight in gold!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Where did Monty wander off from? We're in Lesmahagow but will come and join in the search if you let us know where you are. We're thinking of you and have our fingers crossed! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I hope this boy is home safe and sound very soon. Did he just wander off? Make sure you poster all around the area where you've said he likes to wander and keep checking the area too. Fingers crossed for a swift and safe return xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
