What a lovely thank you. Just send photo to a co ordinator maybe that has been helping you or direct to admin@doglost.co.uk sure someone will do it for you.
niknak
On behalf of Jess and myself, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped to bring about a happy ending to Jess's story.

In no particular order, because every single phone call, and every single email, and every single poster, were responsible for finding her.

Thank you to DogLost, and all your people. What a wonderful job you do!

To 'It's a Springthing Forum' and it's members (many of whom are on here), for organising, for supporting, for searching, for helping financially and for giving hope!

To the people who pulled on their bossy boots and organised everyone.

To the people who pulled on their walking boots to search for her.

To the people that dipped into their pockets to help with the costs, (bless you!).

To everyone that made phone calls and sent out emails.

To all the people that postered and distributed flyers.

To the people that manned the phones and computers when we were out searching.

To everyone that told someone, who told someone else, to spread the word.

To the people that reported sightings which gave us hope.

To the friends and strangers that gave me hope, when I felt all hope was lost.

To my vet, that didn't charge me for her check up after she was found.

And finally, to Alex Elms from Lordington, near Chichester, who finally found her and caught her.

What a fantastic lot of people you all are! Jess and I can never repay you for everything that you all did. But we will be eternally grateful to you. Thank you x

PS. I don't know how to add a 'found' photo of her??

WE THINK WE'VE GOT HER!!!!!!!!

Just had a call from my farmer friend, and one of the local farmers has picked her up. L/W springer with pink collar! I have phoned Niki, and she is on her way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BBKM
Lets hope Jess is home today...I agree with Reynard, if you haven't done so already, pin point these sighting areas and times, and connect up to form a triangle, that is why she appears to be circling. Jess is in survival mode but also trying to get home. You are all doing brilliant and as selina says if anyone can get to these areas would be excellent help. Good luck xLast edited: 2012-04-13 11:23:47 by BBKM

The area has been scented, Niki knows to do this regularly :-)

There has been another sighting this morning near Styansted House Niki is already on her way. Jess has been seen near Racton Tower two days running around 2-3PM IF ANYONE CAN GET TO THE AREA OF RACTON OR STANSTED HOUSE?PARK AT ANY TIME TODAY PLEASE DO SO BUT ESPECIALLY EARLY TO MID AFTERNOON make sure you have poster with you to ID Jess if you see a dog because the farm have two springers that could be anywhere in the area as well.
Bev D
I can't do this morning but could come out for a couple of hours this afternoon. I'll check this page later.
Auntie Katie
Fingers crossed that today is the day Jess comes home! Good Luck today. xx
DogLostReynard
Has the area she has been seen been scented, this would possible keep her in the area also is there a food source somewhere that she goes back to and she is probably hunting in the day time and going back to a fav site to sleep thats why she may be what appears to be circling, so plot the points where she has mostly been seen which will be points of a Triangle and scent and feed there and keep look outs there also - good luck ! xLast edited: 2012-04-13 08:07:27 by Reynard
niknak
Just had a phone call from Stansted House. There has been a sighting of a dog this morning in the grounds to the north of the house. It's going to take me over an hour to get there...is there anyone closer?
niknak
Just to add, that the 'River' or dry stream bed as it is at the moment, is the River Ems, running from near Stoughton, to Emsworth on the Hampshire/West Sussex border
niknak
I tend to agree with Caroline now. We spent several hours up near the tower tonight, and then followed the river down towards the sea, and then back all the way to the car park at Stoughton. If she followed the river from there, she would go through the heart of Stoughton village, which has many posters up, nearly every house has been flyered, someone must have seen her....so maybe she is coming straight down from the nature reserve towards Walderton or Racton? Also, has she has been spotted in Racton at approximately the same time, 2pm, on two consecutive days, does this mean that she is circling, rather than travelling? Some of you will have loads of experience with the behaviour of dogs missing in the countryside, can you help with answers????Last edited: 2012-04-13 01:01:37 by niknak
Caroline28
I have been thinking about how Jess got to Racton, it may be that she followed the river bed but she may have followed a path down from kingly vale.

At the logs you described earlier, if they are on your left, there is also path to the right, if you follow it down I am sure takes you right down to either stoughton or walderton. If i remember correctly to the left of the path is farmland and the right forest... Eventually it all opens up to farmland and then down to some farm houses/buildings. It's been sometime since I did that route so i could be wrong but my husbanb mountainbikes there regularly so I'll check with him.

Jess may then follow the riverbed from there but she may also be staying in the area and it's worth considering I guess?
fraggle
If you are joining the search this weekend email me on dog@jennyfarrell.co.uk and we will add you to the contact list. This way we can keep you up to date with what's happening during the day and provide some support if you need it.

There is a search both days if needed, meeting at the car park by the nature reserve at 10 and between 1 and 2 both days ;-) We will post here if meeting place changes, thanks Bev.
Bev D
I'm not about tomorrow or Saturday but if there is a search on Sunday, I can come and help.
Ratel
Just returned from giving Racton Tower a 'good going-over' but, alas, no sign of Jess. Tomorrow = Stansted which is an extremely doggy area where hopefully sightings will be many.
niknak
Being stupid, I didn't get the lady's phone number who called me with the sighting of Jess. Her name is Annette. Please, if anyone knows who it is, or if you're reading this, call me back!
Murphy's Mum
Just got back from looking for Jess. We had a good look round Racton Tower - no sign of her there. Looking on the map, the lane runs all the way up to stansted park, where a ranger saw a dog running round yesterday, but didn't know about Jess at that stage. They are going to send someone out looking for her. In the mean-time, I have alerted Havant Dog Warden, as Stansted Park is in their area.
KaSi
Racton Tower is a ruins tower. Be careful around there as the brickwork is a terrible state.

Heres a link to the tower

Was at kingly vale just seen this so made my way to racton tower.... Here now so will keep looking
BBKM
Great there has been another sighting, hope some helpers can get out there to search.....niknak i can't open the link for the map. Is Racton Tower near Grandwood house??? If yes am I right in thinking she is now on the other side of Stoughton from where she was lost?Last edited: 2012-04-12 14:37:37 by BBKM

Almost definite sighting not long ago by Racton Tower, the woman got close enough to describe jess collar in detail to Niki and then Jess darted off towards racton tower, can anyone else get near to the localtion to help search please.
niknak
Don't know if this will work, but have added both possible sightings to a Google map, showing car park where we walk from, and where she disappeared.

Sad to read Jess is still not home. Don't know if you are already aware that a dog tends to form a triangle when lost and trying to get home. 3-4 miles is no distance for Jess to have travelled. If you can pin point on a map where she went missing from, and her 2 possible sightings this may give you some idea of her direction and possibly where her next sighting maybe. If it is a straight line then keep searching that line and do keep checking for any possible huts, barns etc a quiet den she can rest in. Hope this makes sense. Good luck, fingers crossed she is sighted again and home very soon xx I will have a good browse of the area on google earth ( i am in durham so do not know this area)xLast edited: 2012-04-12 10:01:18 by BBKM

The exact meeting place, geographical reference to Kingley vale and confirmation of any plans will be posted on here tomorrow, friday for ease of finding

BIG ORGANISED JESS IN DISTRESS HUNT FOR JESS AT KINGLEY VALE NATURE RESERVE ON SATURDAY 14TH APRIL AND SUNDAY 15TH APRIL ie this weekend coming.
PLAN...MEET IN CARPARK AT 10.00
TASKS NEEDED ..not just trekking the reserve but also house to house posting of the DOG LOST poster to houses in the area, villages, as the roads through are not housey roads.
ON FRIDAY a Spring thing forum person will list all roads of houses done so far so as not to duplicate.
On the search do not call JESS's name as this will frighten her, but take high value treats, cold sossijj, and walk calmly.
Take spare lead and water.
TYhis little girl may be watchful from a distance, keep looking quietly around you.
When you arrive or on here before contact numbers will be put up on friday.
If you can be there fantastic, if not please post here if you can volunteer any task and this will be coordinated by one of us spring thingers.
DOG WARDEN just advised of this search for JESS.
Come on Jess, you are so loved and missed
niknak
My husband took a call this evening from a lady that thought she saw Jess at around 2pm this afternoon at a very small place called Racton. It is in the area, but about 3-4 miles from where Bev D may have seen her. Racton consists os a farm, Racton Park farm, and a few houses and a T junction with a green triangle....and that's it!!! But the lady did say that the dog she saw was heading back towards the area that jess was lost??? Bit of a worry, as the farm is a sheep farm with loads of lambs in the fields around :-(

Unless there are more sightings, I don't plan on walking there during the day tomorrow, but am going to spend the night from dusk until dawn on Friday, in and around where she went missing, and where Bev D may have spotted her, which is only about 400 yrds away. Going to take a cooker, and give out nice beefburger/sausage smells :-)
Ratel
We'll be back up there tomorrow as soon as possible after first light.
niknak
Hi all. Thank you so much for all your help, and especially to those of you who have never met me & jess, yet are giving up your time to help! (Selina, you know that doesn't mean that those of you who know me are not appreciated just as much!!!). Just one thing...in the description of where jess may have been spotted by Bev D, it says....."From the car park on this map follow the path until you get to a split in the path, go left, from there walk until you get to a pile of logs,".....just want to mention for anyone that doesn't know the area, that there is a path that splits off to the left ....BEFORE the path that leads to the log pile. The first path is grassy and muddy, the second, the one you want, is like a continuation of the gravel track. I hope this makes sense??? It's easy when you know your way around!
Bev D
I'm working in the morning but could come up for a couple of hours in the afternoon. I don't know if it's best to cover the same area again or try somewhere else. Let me know if there is a plan for tomorrow?
DogLostSelina - Area Co-ordinator - South Devon
Jess hasnt been found tonight, Niki is home having something to eat and drink and getting ready for tomorrow.
DogLostSelina - Area Co-ordinator - South Devon
Thanks for updating Bev, Niki is still up there quietly looking but no news as yet.
Bev D
I was out for 3 hours 1-4pm. It was me who though I saw Jess in the location below. Something which looked like a small white dog crossed the path about 50m in front of me. I can't be 100% certain it was Jess but it certainly looked like a dog rather than anything else. Sadly another 90 minutes in the area and no more sightings. I hope she is found soon.
Connel

Niki, Jess Mum has arrived in the car park and is on her way by foot to the sighting area
BBKM
Brilliant that Jess has been sighted...clever girl getting very close to where she went missing from. Good luck to everyone out there looking for her, hoping to see her in the blue very, very soon. Wish I lived closer to help xx
Ratel
On our way!
DogLostSelina - Area Co-ordinator - South Devon
Yes Niki knows about the sighting and is on her way, fingers crossed.
Murphy's Mum
Yes, Niki does use a whistle for Jess. Is Niki out following up on the sighting Selina? Feel so useless but J has just gone down for his nap!
DogLostSelina - Area Co-ordinator - South Devon
URGENT THERE HAS BEEN A SIGHTING OF JESS JUST 30 MINS AGO

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=205459071704837300990.0004bd64d46a0f6751e5a&msa=0&ll=50.893072,-0.827751&spn=0.063126,0.181103

From the car park on this map follow the path until you get to a split in the path, go left, from there walk until you get to a pile of logs, take the left split again this is where she was sighted and it is approx 400yds from where she went missing on Monday. Good luck everyone, please all hands on deck if you can get there. I'm acting as a landline point because mobile signal is poor, my number is 01752 691579. Please stay calm if you see her.
DogLostSelina - Area Co-ordinator - South Devon
Ratel, Niki would probably have been using a gundog whistle with a certain pitch, I know her other two dogs recall to her whistle specifically not to any old whistle so I would imagine she would have been training jess to the same whistle?
Ratel
We went out at first light this morning, scanning around Stoughton. Next plan, as suggested = concentrate more on buildings. I noticed yesterday that other searchers were using a whistle - does Jess respond to this, then?
BBKM
So sorry to read that Jess is missing. Sounds like you have a brilliant team working with you to get her home safe asap. Keep checking all used/unused barns, sheds, stables etc....if she is wary of people she may just be lying low in a safe den. I will keep cross checking various websites. Good luck praying little Jess is somewhere safe and found very soon xxx

SORRY should have said COME ON JESS EVERYONE LOVES YOU...feel safe to come out of hidingxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxspecial from your spring thing springie friends and hanties and huncles and childrens!!!!!and mums and dads and boys!!!!

As a Springer owner and lover myself I feel absolutely desperate for you! I'm too far away to be of any practical help but will do whatever I can via the net.

Tess is such a gorgeous girl and I hope you find her safe and well very soon. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way. xxx
Auntie Katie
If positive thoughts and support could get dogs home this little lady would be asleep in front of the fire right now. A massive thank you to everybody pulling out all the stops to get this family reunited.

Keep it up everybody - she's out there somewhere - we just need to get some sightings and the more we can all do to get her known the more chance there is we will get them.

Just got off the phone from Nikki, the Arundel dog seems to be a big false lead, where the dog was sighted there is an ESS of similar description always escaping :-(
niknak
Hi all. No luck today as yet, but have had a phone call from a lady who saw a slim L/W springer crossing a road near Arundel. That's about 15 miles away...do you think it's possible? If she came of the downs at Chilgrove, and wanted to avoid Chichester and surrounding areas, she would follow the woodlands that end near Arundel?????
Caroline28
Should also add that I have fired off an email to my friend who spends a whole load of time at Kingly Vale - he has said he will contact the local ranger and shepherd. Fingers crossed for her safe return.
Caroline28
I live locally. I have given Selina my mobile number but taken yours Nik - I have Thursday off from work and am happy to help you look for her. I can bring my spaniel too if that helps? I would also recommend postering ALL the local pubs in the surrounding villages - they are all dog friendly and will help if they can I am sure. I have tweeted and facebooked. I've taken your number - will get in touch anyway.
Ratel
A wonderful postman covers the round closest to where Jess went missing so I will give him a poster tomorrow morning. Has anyone told The Fish House (posh hotel/nosherie in the vicinity) yet?
Murphy's Mum
Just dawned on me that there is a mountain biking track through Stoughton Downs. I have googled, and fired off a few e-mails, but if anyone has contacts in the mountain biking community, the please ask them to share the information
Murphy's Mum
Oh, and Jess' home is actually East Wittering.
Murphy's Mum
I have been in touch with Sainsbury's and Ocado, and asked them to alert their delivery drivers. Sainsbury's chichester told me that the area is also covered by Farlington branch, but not had a chance to get in touch with them.

Yes it's Chichester, local taxi firms have also been emailed a poster and asked to keep an eye out for Jess.

This is my patch so I am setting off now for a really good, quiet mooch around. Where is Jess's home address? Chichester?

Good Luck today, I hope she is home with you before you know it. She may be waiting around the area that you were parked yesterday. I've emailed you this morning, just some information that may help and have put Jess on the twitter list for today. We need to get her as much coverage as possible so if somebody spots her they know what to do. xx
