- I work in WC2 and see your posters all the time. I walked up the pedestrian street that links the Strand and William IV Street today (by the Post Office) and saw a lady sitting opposite the church with a black labrador. I think that she was sitting with some homeless people (not sure if she was homeless) as this is where they sit (outside the entrance to Charing X). I didn't get a really good look at the dog as I was just passing but it looked in very good condition. You may want to take a look around there just to make sure. Anything helps I suppose. I really hope you find him.

- So sorry that Alfie is still missing. I was visiting in London last Friday and Saturday and did notice your posters up in various areas of London. You have done a good job with the postering but dont give up on doing them as it just needs that one person to see a poster who knows where Alfie is. I hope you find him very soon x

- received some info that Alfie may be in the Haywards Heath area of Sussex. Are there any volunteers in that area who could look out for him or put up posters? Many thanks

- we're keeping an eye on gumtree and sites that offer stud dogs, Annie. There's been possible sightings but nothing specific. Black labs have no defining features apart from being black labs so it's difficult to know. The search network is growing and we're still on the case, keeping positive and will continue to publicise and search

- any updates on Alfie? are you keeping an eye on websites like Gumtree?

- annieb, there has been some sightings last week around St. James park, but we think he may have been picked up by someone now as no more sightings. We made a facebook page, not sure how to put a link here but it's 'Find Alfie Black'. My son (his dog) has put up a thousand posters and has another thousand printed. Any help welcome.

- have there been no sightings at all? I would have thought a dog like this would stand out wandering alone in central London - but then I know how people tend to walk past and think someone else will see to it (recent experience with an abusive alcoholic homeless man and his dog taught me this, but that's another story ...)

- I work in W1 and walk in from Waterloo every day - I saw your notice up in Covent Garden today, the DogLost one with the photo will help, especially for tourists who might not be able to read the poster but can recognise the dog from the picture - will be keeping my eye out every day

- Hope there's some positive news on Alfie soon, stay safe!

- I'm so sorry to hear Alfie is missing. What a handsome boy.
Riverlady, it may be an idea to also notify wardens in the neighbouring boroughs of Camden, Islington, City of London (Westminster meets Camden on the WC2/WC1 border and Islington and the City on the WC1/EC1 border) and Lambeth (just the other side of Westminster Bridge). The Covent Garden and St James' Park areas are close enough to these borders to make it feasible that Alfie could wander into the other areas.
You mentioned that rescues and vets have been notified. I assume this includes the Blue Cross in Victoria but have the Beaumont Hospital (Royal Veterinary College) in Camden, the Harmsworth Hospital (RSPCA) in Islington and the Mayhew Animal Rescue in west London been notified too?
Sorry if I am stating the obvious. It's just that I used to live in the Covent Garden area and know these places are well within the wandering possibilities of a young healthy dog (when my aunt's dog went missing in Holborn, he was found at the Harmsworth).
I hope Alfie is found soon. - 2011-07-15 21:42 Riverlady, Twitter Co-ordinator

- Sorry to see that ALFIE is missing.
If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held are up to date.
If you have not already done so contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, contact the Police.
Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green 'Find Any UK Vet' graphic near the top right hand side of the page under the 'latest missing dogs' photo.
A photograph of your dog is essential - if you have not already uploaded a picture, please do so by clicking on 'Update Details' above, or you can email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo of your dog, quoting the dog's DogLost ID number. You can also add comments and update your dog's status by clicking on the title bar at the top of the comments list. You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments.
You can obtain a 'MISSING' poster by clicking on 'View Poster' above. POSTERS ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Start postering now!
If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, they can be re-homed legally after 7 days, so please try to visit rescue centres to look for your dog and give them a poster. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.
Please keep us updated by keeping your dogs page up to date and check for posts from helpers that may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings.
If your dog has been stolen please inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN) for the theft.
