Never far from my thoughts Rusty so wish you were found & home xxx
Faye
Just wanted to say a big thankyou to the people who brought our attention to a lovely little oldie who they thought may be Rusty.
This little dog was checked out and is now reunited with her owners thank goodness!
Faye
Rusty would probably be about 19/20 now. He was 16 I think when he went missing. He was a poorly boy and on medication for liver problems, it'll three years on March 21st.He's still remembered with much love and had the most wonderful life, never wanting for anything with a lovely family. Its truly tragic what happened but he's always in our hearts. Thankyou for caring Carley and gentle hugs to your eldest xxxxxx
Carley
No..I guess I probably agree.... but I still think about him. How old would he be now? My eldest is 16 in march.
Faye
I hate to say this Carley but I really don't think Rusty is here
any more:( I have a candle lit here for Rusty and his best friend Emma who passed away 4 years ago today, I hope they are together now. Thankyou for caring Carley xxx
Carley
Keep warm Rusty wherever you are ! xx

Still in my thoughts little man......... still looking............ xx
Faye
Thanks for that Jo, have found the web page, very interesting
and thankyou for thinking of Rusty youre a star xx
jobadger
This is the webpage you'll need to go on Faye - it streams live every Wednesday at 6.00 p.m. Debbie is Bruce Forsyth's daughter who has become very involved in the 'Get Vet's Scanning Campaign' and she has been invited along to talk about the number of dogs missing - http://vetsklinic.co.uk/klinicstv#.UWMQxJOG3zk
I don't know whether they're going to mention any dogs or what is going to be said - I just know that I get Rusty's name out at every opportunity that arises.......... xx
Faye
Thankyou Jo, where would we see/hear Vets Klinic?
jobadger
Faye - Debbie Matthews is on Vet's Klinic 10th April talking about missing dogs/cats. I've put Rusty on the Vet's Klinic FB page https://www.facebook.com/Vets.Klinic1 - not sure whether or not you're on FB - as it was suggested to add as many as possible to show how big the problem is............ you never know............ xx
Faye
Thats really wonderful of you Jo, thankyou. One day someone's memory may be jogged and they may be able to throw light on where Rusty went. I feel so much for other people and their dogs in this awful situation too, someone must have seen or heard something about these dogs that go missing and apparently disappear into thin air! Cant thank you and doglost enough for all the help and support you've given over the last two years xx
jobadger
Rest assured Faye - me neither. He's on a composite poster on my car and on the ones I give out when I go long journeys........... xx
Faye
Me too Jo, but chances of finding Rusty or even what happened to him grow slimmer every day, never stop looking though xxxx
jobadger
My heart skipped a beat when I looked at DL when I came in this afternoon. Still wishin' and hopin' gorgeous......... xx
Faye
Thankyou Helen very kind of you x

Thankyou Beanie, I think you can only truly understand what its like to lose a dog in this way if you've actually been through it. Its totally traumatic and with you every waking moment you are constantly looking. I sincerely hope you get news on Tucker. Thankyou for your support x

What a lovely face. No wonder you miss him so much. Adding him to my watchlist now - you just never know. xx
Faye
Rusty's mum wants to thank from the bottom of her heart everyone at Doglost for their help trying to get Rusty back home, and the wonderful people who have been so kind keeping a look out for him since he disappeared two years ago tomorrow.Someone knows what happened.
As has been said in a previous post due to Rusty's age and state of health there is very little hope of him being found safe and well, but if this post jogs anyones memory in any way please let us know. Its been a big comfort to know he still has his page on doglost and people are still keeping eyes peeled. We just want to know what happened, though accept that we may never know.
Thanks to all, Faye.

Faye
Hi Carley, lovely of you to think of Rusty. Its two years next month since he went missing, due to his age and state of health we dont hold out much hope of him being found safe and well. It would be wonderful if someone somewhere would come forward and tell us what happened to him. He is loved and missed every day and it would be good to have closure.
Carley
Still thinking about old Rusty ..... hope you are warm and safe boy xx

Faye - Good Morning is doing a lost dogs this Friday morning.

This morning tv programme have posted this on their website....

This Friday we’re intending to feature an item on missing pets. So if you’ve lost a pet, or think you’ve had one stolen, let us know and we might be able to feature them in our missing pets gallery. Email thismorning@itv.com with some good shots of your missing pet and a few details that might help: when you last saw your pet, any distinguishing marks, habits or characteristics. Maybe it was wearing a particular collar. We need your emails by 5.00pm Thursday the 10th May. http://www.itv.com/thismorning/life/reuniting-lost-pets-with-owners/Last edited: 2012-05-09 12:35:34 by jobadger

Thankyou so much Jumanji thats very kind of you. We will never stop looking.Think we are all wondering how this could have happened on a busy holiday site.Rusty's owners apprecate SO much all the help that was given during those first traumatic weeks when he went missing and all the people who have kept touching base for a whole year. They also did everything they could to find him as soon as he went missing. I really really hope bumping Rusty to the top again will jog someones memory. Thankyou all of you.Last edited: 2012-03-13 17:29:54 by Faye

Faye I am always looking out for Rusty and will never forget this lovely boy. We drove up to help search for him when he was first missing and it's just hard to imagine how an elderly boy like him could simply vanish like this. I will bump his page back to the top on the anniversary of the day he went missing in the hope it may jog someones memory. X
Faye

Faye
Thankyou Carley and Jo. Dont know which the magazine is Jo, but have a feeling it may be the 'people' sunday mag I've seen something like that it, will have a look. Thankyou.Had a call from a lovely lady tonight from Scarborough and asking if Rusty was found yet.She had a poster and said she'd keep her eyes peeled for him.Its really wonderful to know that people are still keeping a look out for Rusty. Many many thanks to this lady.
Carley
Still thinking of you Rusty - will search to the day you are found.
jobadger
Doesn't one of the womens' mags run a lost dog article occasionally - or is it one of the Sunday mags? I'm sure I've seen something when I've been flicking through things in the dentists waiting room.
I've still got Rusty's poster up in my car by the way - asking has anyone seen him. Someone will come back to you one day. Don't give up - look at the re-uniteds - Cami today and Pip yesterday. xxLast edited: 2011-08-20 20:30:41 by jobadger
Faye
Did send Rusty's details first time Jo, but the whole show seemed just a shambles
they could have covered so many more lost pets in the time given. Think it left a lot of disappointed to say the least.Slightly better second show.I will send his details again, if you or anyone else hears its going out again please would you give me a nudge I'd be really grateful! Dont always catch tv. Many thanks, Faye x
jobadger
Faye - aren't ITV making a regular thing of the lost dogs appeals? I'm not sure - but got the impression from someone that it wasn't a one off. D'you think it worth sending Rusty's details again? Jo xxx
Faye
Thanks woldsway, everyone is being so kind and helpful but sadly there is still no news of Rusty. Your thoughts are much appreciated.xx

Faye
Rusty wasn't mentioned on the show but good luck to the pets who were and I so hope their owners are found. Still searching for our boy.
Faye
I have sent pictures of Rusty and his doglost poster up to ITV.
His owners have no net access at present.
It would be so wonderful if he was mentioned but my guess is they will have to be very selective as there will be so many dogs! Thankyou again julie, pray we hear something from this.
Faye
Julie thankyou for that.I am texting Rusty's owners right now as its their call.
Bet they get so many missing dogs it'll be heart breaking.. if just one is found it'll be all worthwhile. When I hear from Rusty's owners I will let you know. Faye x
Julie B
This morning are doing an appeal for lost dogs on tomorrows show. Their email address is thismorning@itv.com, they need a picture of the dog and some back ground info about where it went missing etc. It needs to be sent to them by 6pm today.
I think of Rusty often and hope that you have some good news soon. Julie x
Faye
Thankyou so much Jo, we pray for a sighting or word on Rusty, youre right, someone MUST know what has happened to him, without p/ks he is not good on his back legs and I have great difficulty in believing he got far off that huge holiday park without being taken. We really appreciate you still keeping him
him in your mind, thankyou.
jobadger
Checking in to see if any news. So wish for a sighting. I've a poster in car's rear side window 'cos I'm out and about all over the Llyn at present- someone has to know this boy. xx

Mind? Thankyou so so much Jo, what you've done is very much appreciated. Yes Rusty could be anywhere, we are still searching, just needs one person to see his poster, someone MUST have seen him. Thankyou Faye x
jobadger
The holiday trade is in full swing here so I've put posters round and about - in the vet's, the pet shops, the local caravan and holiday parks - just in case. I know we're miles away - but you never know - It just takes one person to remember..... I know your gorgeous lad is still out there and I keep hoping I'm gonna come across you one day Rusty. Until someone does, big hugs - and stay safe. Jo xx
P.S. - I've altered the poster to read 'STILL MISSING' and I've added 'Could now be anywhere in the U.K.' Hope you don't mind.Last edited: 2011-07-10 21:50:35 by jobadger

There is STILL no sign of Rusty or clue to his whereabouts. His owner has rung Scarborough dog warden yet again. Rusty where are you? If someone has taken Rusty
out of the area or kept him they have no idea of the terrible distress they have caused. Please everyone keep your eyes peeled, there is still a chance our lovely boy is out there. Last edited: 2011-07-09 07:28:26 by Faye

Still thinking and praying for Rusty and you.I am sure he is safe somewhere.I so hope that call comes soon for you.xxxx
Faye
Despite all the phone calls yesterday there is still no sign of Rusty.
This was a particularly distressing thing for owners to do after all this time, even though all who were rung were very kind, and out of 10 vets rung 8 still had Rusty's poster up, which is lovely to hear. Thankyou for all your good wishes, thoughts and prayers, we just want him home, he is so loved and missed. Last edited: 2011-05-20 13:30:26 by Faye

Hi Faye - Just touching ground to let you know I'm still thinking of you all. If there's anything I can do or you need, you know where I am. Jo xxx
Faye
Had article in Scarborough news filey free ads too.Couple of false leads both
well checked out.local area well searched. Yes i think its possible he's been taken out of the area,we are working on that!
dewilliams42
thanks faye for your reply. thought you would have checked immediate vicinity first. sounds as though someone may have picked him up thinking he was a stray and taken him home. perhaps some newspaper coverage may help to get his story further afield. good luck in your search-hope you have good news soon.

Yes cliffs were searched as thoroughly as was possible, from above and from the beach below. its not generally thought he went that way, but who knows? search and rescue informed sailing clubs, coastguard, I would have thought he might have been spotted by now if that had been the case.
Rescues, dog wardens and kennels have been rung today, and many more e mails and posters sent out both in and out of area.
dewilliams42
JUST WONDERED IF THE CLIFFS WERE SEARCHED THOROUGHLY- HE COULD HAVE GOT HIMSELF STUCK IN A CREVICE OR CAVE. BUT HOPEFULLY NOT.
Faye
Thankyou julie B. Still no news, no sightings absolutely nothing!
How can a dog seem to disappear into thin air? Still searching but not sure owners want to go down the daily papers route at present.
Julie B
I am really sorry that Rusty is still missing, I think about him every day. Have you tried to contact the daily papers to see if they would do a story ? If they would do it for you it people right across the county would know about him and you just might get some positive feedback. I really hope that you find him very soon. Julie x
Faye
Thankyou deb, e mails been sent out by blue dolphin to people who were on site when Rusty went missing. More dog wardens, councils e mailed and rung by owners yesterday, plus kennels again. Still all working hard to find Rusty.

Any news on the little man, Faye? Jo xx
Faye
Lead in cheshire followed up thankyou racheljane, wasn't Rusty, but thankfully this lost dog was reunited with his owners.
Still no news, still searching!
Faye
Probably about Beagle sized Jo, though he is quite plump and the lump on his side makes him look a bit bigger. just a smallish dog though really.
Thanks Abbeyjune and Woldsway, it means a lot to know everyone still thinking about him x

Still no news of Rusty. I have sent a poster to other riding schools Madris, excellent idea. Things going on behind the scenes that I feel I cant jeopardise by commenting on line,
but there are so many people looking out for Rusty and we are still ringing and e mailing, thanks again for your ideas, and if we get any news at all I will be here letting you all know.

Oh thankyou so much jobadger! I will pass that on to Rusty's owners, they'll be very very pleased. There are some very kind people out there youre so right.
Tell Anne thankyou very much from us thats a lovely gesture.
jobadger
I've just had a lovely reply to my request to Scarborough and District Canine Society. Anne, the Secretary, has forwarded the poster on to some friends who live just outside Filey to pass on, and the society has got an evening talk next Thursday for which Anne has run off some posters to distribute. I passed on our grateful thanks for her assistance. There are some really nice people out there. xxLast edited: 2011-04-07 20:20:44 by jobadger

I've forwarded a poster to someone I know from Tees and Hartlepool S.C. and Scarborough and District Canine Society have got a show coming up in a couple of weeks, so I've asked if they'd kindly display a poster - there should be quite a few doggy people from the surrounding area there. xxx
Faye
Thankyou so much Jo. The more crossposts we can get the better. Owners been ringing round yet again today. No sign I'm afraid. Youre right he is a beautiful boy,for him to just disappear like this is very very strange, hoping and praying we get some news soon.
jostenning
Was just reading this thread as noticed so many postings, although I am not anywhere near the area, am going to post a link to this on Moneysaving expert forum (they have a missing pet section) and also on doggysnaps.com, another site for dog lovers. Hopefully these will reach a wide audience. May I just add that he is such a a beautiful boy and I hope you are renuited with him soon. Thinking of you x Jo

'somehow we'll get this little man home!' You bet we will, Faye! All of the mailing will work - like I said, just one person, just someone remembering..... Jo xx
Faye
Thankyou again for your help, I am trying to get in touch with Sailing clubs in the area, e mailing posters etc. I have been in touch with various dog rescues in thirsk
including blue cross. Bird watchers idea a good one Madrid thankyou.
Some organisations I hear back from some I dont, being so far away is difficult.
Each day we hope there will be some news, I'll find other places to e mail and send posters to today, thanks for the ideas and support, somehow we'll get this little man home!

I've emailed several Ramblers' Association branches since the dear lad went missing but have unfortunately had no response from any. I'm just hoping that they've passed our requests onto their members.
There's a race meeting at Thirsk on Saturday (9th). I know it's a little inland from Gristhorpe but can anyone give fliers out? There was a meeting at Beverley today and the next one at York is on May 11th.
Excellent idea re. bird watchers Madrid - I've emailed posters to the RSPB reserves in the area in the hope that they'll display them where their vistors might see them.Last edited: 2011-04-06 23:42:59 by jobadger

out for a coupla days so cant access my works computer for any response from help from ramblers etc. what about any bird watching clubs that could help in the look for for this poor little lad. longshot but stranger this have happened.
jobadger
It just needs one person to see the posters, to remember where they were, to remember the little dog they thought was so nice....... it'll happen Faye. Have you postered the sailing clubs up and down the coast - not for cliff searching but because the sailing season is getting under way and people will be travelling from various areas for racing and sailing. They may go away and see something and they can maybe phone the club and give any information they come up with. XX
Faye
There is no chance of owners or me giving up until Rusty is found.
There is no news of dog around the school and the school was really nice and e mailed me back saying they were sorry but the newsletters had all gone out for this term, seems its not a weekly thing! However Rusty's posters are both inside and out of the school which is great.
I often read the wonderful stories of dogs being reunited with their owners, sometimes after many many months and its very heartening. However Rusty is quite a poorly boy,and if he doesn't get his meds if someone has him they will before long need a vet! Owners still in touch with Haven... loads of people still looking, I have spent hours e mailing rescues vets and asking them all to crosspost, so the search for Rusty is still very much on.
It is a nightmare jobadger, youre right, not even a sighting of this much loved boy.
When I said I was running out of options .. it was folk to e mail, seem to have done them all, some twice!Trying to keep Rusty in their minds.Yes I agree, the weather is getting better, more folk out and about, thankyou all for your thoughts and prayers xx
jobadger
Please stay positive - Rusty needs you to stay positive. Look how many oldies (and youngsters) have come home recently - some of them after quite a while away on their 'adventures'. Mutley's just come home after three weeks; Whiskey was away for two. What about the little dog around the school? Any news of this one? The children still have to take their newsletters home for Easter so there may be some feedback from that. Now the weather's getting better, there will be more people out and about, there will be more people coming to the area who may have been there when Rusty originally went missing. They may well come up with something. There is still so much to hope for - though I know you're all living a nightmare at the moment. xx

Thanks Madrid,on both counts.Haven have been told about the Twitter site this morning,Haven have rang owners and previous occupants on sites going to be e mailed.
Search extending northwards due to lot of north east people being on site when Rusty vanished. Still working hard to find him. Thanks all.

sent email to Yorkshire Coast Radio asking for assistance here also further email sent to the Ramblers for assistance aswell.

Ive searched for Haven Hols on twitter + they have accounts but last tweet dated 15th feb? There is @Haven_FunStars,@HavenOwnersForum,@HavenDeals, @HavenHoliday......Ive tweeted to the first 2. Think maybe a little call to the press dept.......explain that you have had over 4,500 people look on line at Rustys page and that we have tried to communicate via twitter but their accounts seem in active. Ive sent your thanx to the lady.
Faye
Thanks Riverlady, they have a press dept, informed as far as I know.
Local vets looking out is great thankyou so much that lady!
DogLostRiverlady
Also a lady has tweeted that she is in Eastfield, Osgodby......works at a local vets so they are looking out.
DogLostRiverlady
Have you explained that Rusty is being seen + followed ..on twitter...and so is Haven Holidays. Ask them if they have a PR dept or a social media dept.....maybe then they might understand that might be a bit more helpful + proactive.
Faye
Have done just that Doglover.Haven holidays have rung owners but it feels like they are dragging their feet.
If the door at the static home had shut properly in the first place this wouldn't have happened. It could have been a toddler, but as it happened it was a much loved dog.
Lots of e mail reminders sent out today, still hoping for news.
Thanks Madrid for e mailing the ramblers group. I'm in the east midlands so a long way
off too its very frustrating isn't it!

Haven holidays been in touch with owners, apparently a lot of people left the site that day... haven't said exactlt what they're going to DO but hopefully something!Dog warden to visit school area. School to put poster up on their notice board, have just e mailed that to them.More come home thoughts and prayers for Rusty pleasexxx
Faye
Thankyou for your ideas. Hopefully Haven head office will contact owners today.
Please thank your brother-in-law doglover, and yes youre right a lot of people do contact the police before anyone else, especially if they suspect their dog has been stolen. A wonderful lady has been searching this weekend, she has covered a lot of coastal area, farmland and outbuildings. This has been a massive boost for owners as they live so far away. She has also offered to take a look if there are any more sightings.
Talk about an angel!! owners ringing st Augustines school today re possible sighting there. will update later. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Rusty and his family it means such a lot. So wish we could find him x
paddy
if the site owners can't give you the details of previous campers, maybe you could ask *them* to contact them? ie send letters which you have written and printed off, ready in envelopes, or emails, and reimburse them for their time and goodwill?
Doglover
Yeh Faye that's what he said, but he also said people still seem to call the police first so if he hears or sees anything logged he will def let me know. He's gotta be out there somewhere - i am thinking about him and you xx
Faye
Thankyou very much doglover, thats great, the more people looking out up there the better, Owners have informed the police, but of course lost dogs now come under the council so its difficult, but your help is very much appreciated.
Doglover
I'm down south but my brother-in-law is a policeman for North Yorkshire police based at Scarborough - I have told him about Rusty and if he hears anything he will let me know xx

Thankyou doglover1 and Madrid.Owners ringing school monday and trying for an e mail address to send a poster otherwise I will get one in the post. This is getting increasingly distressing as its two weeks tomorrow when Rusty went missing.
His owners dont live in the area and I live even further away. All dog wardens vets etc will be rung again tomorrow. Still waiting to hear anything from Haven Holidays. Thankyou for your suggestions and support.

May be a good idea to also send St Augustins school a missing poster of Rusty and if they can/will give to the school children/parents who are normally round the school at differnet times of the day and may spot him wandering around.
Faye
Have e mailed scarborough dog warden yet again with post code for school area,

Just heard from Rusty's owners. Traced owner of one of the dogs.. it was a lab.
There is still no sign of Rusty. Owners on way home. Anyone close to postcode

Faye
Thankyou Riverlady, and doglover1. The sighting near the school kiddies tried to catch hold of the dog but it jumped into the road, it was assumed it was with a man.
Second sighting was with a man in a wheelchair.Still waiting to hear from owners,
as soon as any news I'll post.Thankyou for crossposting its whats needed now, we could do with someone local to these areas to help. One of the possible sightings isn't a long long way from where Rusty went missing.
doglover1
Hi Faye, So pleased to see there has been a possible sighting of Rusty, only wish I lived nearer Scarborough to help look! Do you know if Rusty was seen alone or being walked by someone ? I have posted the possible sightings on Facebook. Come on Rusty please show yourself again.
DogLostRiverlady
Have tweeted link to this page to @FileyUK @FileyParish.
Faye
URGENT APPEAL...due to article in scarborough evening news Rusty's owners have had calls claiming he has been seen. Are there any doglost helpers in Sea view drive/filey road area of scarborough or Sandybed lane near st augustins school scarborough who could either poster or help look in those areas?? Long shot I know,as far as I know owners going up there today.
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
thanks for bumping Rusty back up Goldenfrodo ! Hopefully this article will reach someone who knows where Rusty is or at least saw him after the last sightings we have. Faye ........ although the Holiday camp wont give out addresses for people staying there I wonder if they can give general catchment areas where most visitors come from. I dont think many people will travel there from more than a 2 - 3 hour car journey away. So it would be a good idea to list these areas and maybe get an advert of even an article in local papers for these areas to see if it jogs any memories or reaches anyone that may have picked him up in their car ? xx
Faye
Thankyou goldenfrodo, everything crossed that the story brings news of Rusty,it may be on Scarborough news website too, that would be good.Just extending a massive thankyou from Rusty's owners for all your help and ideas xx

Been off line yesterday, just catching up! Thankyou Madrid and doglover1,two great ideas,
Know Rusty's owners have been in touch with Haven Head office they are apparently going to get their heads together to see what can be done.. Also story about Rusty in Scarborough news last night, dont know outcome of that yet. Just wish we could have a sighting, even a tiny clue would be something :((

Faye
Thankyou so much Doglover1 thats great news!
doglover1
Hi Faye, I've just posted Rusty's missing details on the Haven Hoildays Facebook page, asking anyone going to Blue Dolphin area to look out for him, It has 780 members on the page.
Faye
Have txt owners with suggestions,I think to contact someone higher up at Blue dolphin would be great doglover1.The site has lots and lots of posters around, everyone is still looking for him...just no sightings, not one in all this time.Owners have been trying to contact farmers who own the fields around but they all belong to different people and some rented out, and they are vast too. there are so many people looking out for him.Thank you for your suggestions.
doglover1
Hi Faye, Sorry no news yet on Rusty, I keep checking every day. Just a few ideas, If the holiday park wont give you the past client addresses,if you print off some missing flyers and give to them will they then send out to clients who were there same time as Rusty, They may want postal costs etc but like Julie B said it may jog some memories, Its a massive Haven Holiday site and pictures in brochures show cliff top walks! Also I will check if Haven Holiday have a Facebook page, Blue Dolphin may even have its own page and you could post Rusty's missing details on the Facebook pages.I work in the travel Industry and may be able to contact someone higher up at Haven to see if they can do anything else or suggest anything re contacting past clients etc.
Stay safe Rusty where ever you are, so many people thinking and looking for you Rusty xx
Julie B
I have just had another idea. Could you print off some small leaflets and drop them off at each caravan on the holiday park - this way everybody staying there will know about Rusty and will be able to look out for him while they are there. Julie x
Faye
Thanks Julie B. there is no way they will give out addresses of former holiday makers.. data protection etc! Owners have asked. You have given me a bit of an idea though which I will run by owners. Yes scarborough evening news reporting on Rusty but not sure when. Thankyou, all new ideas and suggestions gratefully received!
Julie B
I am so sorry that Rusty is missing. Have you tried the daily papers to see if any of them would help by doing a story on him ? Another thought - I dont know how full the holiday park was at the time - but would they give you names and addresses of the people who were there so that you could send a small missing leaflet to each of them in the post ? It may trigger peoples memories - or it may be that is someone thought he was lost - took them home with them without realising. Just trying to think of different things which may help. I do hope that you have some news of him soon. Stay safe Rusty. Julie x
Faye
Thankyou madrid, owner sdaid there was a pub there but shut down, however will pass on

faye, dog friend pup the Bull Inn at Gristhorpe. Can they assist with a poster they dont seem to have an email address. Phone no is 01723512359. can they assist us in anyway?
Faye
Thanks madrid, have just been reading that. Yes coastguard informed and cliffs checked as far as I know. I dont know the area and sadly live a long way away, people have walked the coastal path and down on the beach,a lady has informed local fishermen and there are still people up there looking for Rusty.Didn;t know the cliffs were so
accessible... sounds pretty dangerous to me, especially for kids and dogs.
madrid
checking every few hours progress on finding poor Rusty sorry i am not near enough to help you. found this on website
Blue Dolphin caravan park in Gristhorpe Bay last night.
The female Staffordshire Bull and English Bull Terriers were recovered by Filey and Scarborough coastguard teams.
One of the dogs was found part way down the cliff while the other was on the beach and they were taken by inshore lifeboat to Filey.

have the cliffs been checked out? can the coastguard help>

It might be worth contacting the local sailing clubs - they would have RIBs used for safety during racing. I'm sure they'd do this for a donation say to the RNLI. They would be able to go along the cliffs steadily and slowly to see if anything was there. I do hope there's news of him soon. The oldies are always a worry. hi J_D ...... yes it really is so worrying and he is on my mind all the time.We have had no sightings of him at all since Monday morning around 8.30am and we need more sightings of him to get some idea where or which direction he has vanished to. I agree the cliffs are a concern, his owners are aware of this and have tried to look over them but its quite difficult to see over at some points I understand. My concern is that he could have fallen over them and be trapped on a ledge somewhere. Dogs wont always bark in this kind of situation either !
Jo_B
Feel awful about this poor old lad. I'm new to the 'dog lost' system so not sure what the usual procedure is, but wondering if it'd be worth going out near the camp site with some really smelly meat or food that might attract him if he's hiding out somewhere?

Also, sad to think it but have the areas at the bottom of the cliffs there been checked? Is it possible he could've had a fall? Last edited: 2011-03-25 10:53:09 by Jo_B

Many thanks for sharing on facebook. Sadly no news as yet this morning.

Sorry if these have already been checked Faye but have you logged Rusty with the Highways agency and Railtrack, It's terrible to have to think of these things but better to know I think. Fingers and paws crossed for good news soon.
I will share Rusty's missing details on Facebook also and help spread the word.Last edited: 2011-03-23 23:02:23 by doglover1

Yes I agree doglover1, all the councils etc that woldsway has posted have been rung and postered, he is in the scarborough news fri pm and the free paper for filey? I will suggest vets etc well out of area now. coastguards informed too, nearby petrol station, everyone has been incredibly kind and helpful in trying to reunite the much loved Rusty, cant thank you all enough.
doglover1
My only other thought Faye is someone has seen him wandering alone, picked him up, maybe by car and taken him out of area ( someone on holiday )to a vets or rescue ?? Not being chipped or tagged it would be a good idea to send his details further afield maybe.Come on Rusty please show yourself.Last edited: 2011-03-23 15:08:53 by doglover1

Hi doglover one, apparently the static home door was left open and Rusty must have got
out, he was seen 3 times, twice by the same person, coming out of the arcade, and coming away from cliff top path? Sorry I dont know the area, just going by what Rusty's owners said.. oh if only someone had got hold of him! Yes it was change over day, empty chalets etc have been checked and he hasn't been found. Thankyou for your kind words, he hasn't been seen since 8-30 on monday, not a sign.
doglover1
Hi Faye, I was just reading about lovely Rusty, can I ask how he went missing? Is there any chance he has been locked in a caravan or chalet at this large holiday park, I know mondays/saturdays tend to be change over days on holiday sites so lots of people coming and going and he could of been shut in a caravan/chalet thats not being used this week! Just a thought but it may explain no sightings? I really hope this lovely boy is found soon. Last edited: 2011-03-23 13:35:30 by doglover1

Rusty's owners have been out searching all day for him but no sightings or word of him since around 8.30 this morning. They have been in contact with the dog warden and also the local stray kennels. I have urged them to keep checking with them and to also contact any local vets. The owners were on holiday here and due to return home today but are staying on for another night at least. They live at least 2 hours journey away so really do need as much help as possible with both searching and postering for this lovely elderly boy. Hoping for some news of Rusty very soon ~ PamLast edited: 2011-03-21 17:53:48 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

Sorry to see that RUSTY STILL MISSING is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (28704)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
