Fantastic to see the gorgeous Pippi is now safely home. WELL DONE Team Pippi, especially whippetlady, great to read your update on how she was finally reunited. Welcome home Pippi, sending you a big hug and cuddle. Jan x

Hi Whippetlady...got to add she does not look too pleased either at being photographed in her Santa collar!
Berties Family
so pleased she is home - ''hugs'' to pippi xxxx
whippetlady
Jayne - well done to Doglost too. Although I knew Nicky slightly (I have a whippet too, and we have met and got talking on dog walks!) it made all the difference to get an e-mail from Doglost telling me that Pippi was missing. And it has been very good having a central resource that was updating the situation all the time, and giving clues as to where she has been seen.

I pray that I never need your help to find my Merlin (although he has such a prey drive that I don't entirely rule that out!), but at least if I ever do I know there is a willing team of dog-savvy helpers out there, and that is very reassuring! Eleanor

Oh well done Whippet lady! Team bristol comes up trumps again!
whippetlady
Well done 'Team Pippi' and Doglost - it was a big thrill to be able to hand Pippi back to Nicky yesterday. I had some time to kill before a hair appointment, and decided to have a mooch around the sports field behind Horfield Sports Centre, where she had been seen earlier in the day. I had a nosey around the footpath that runs behind some gardens, but no sign of her, so I went back onto the playing field just in time to see the lady herself trotting out of some bushes - she spotted me as I reached for my phone to call Nicky, and legged it off towards the main Gloucester Road. She squeezed through the hedge and ran off up the pavement towards Monks Park. By the time I had climbed over the fence she was out of sight, but some girls confirmed that she had gone towards Monks Park, so Nicky chased after her in the car. I followed on foot, and found a lane between the houses leading to some garages and back gardens - nothing to lose by investigating, so I poked around and blow me, last garden I looked in, there was a little blonde bum wriggling and trying to get through a garden gate into the lane beyond!! Fortunately she was well and truly stuck, and was NOT pleased about being removed backwards - but as soon as I picked her up she just went limp and was obviously totally exhausted. As soon as she saw Nicky her tail went like a helicopter - a very relieved little lady, and thank goodness we got her back before she hurt herself. As I said to Nicky, if her bum had been a tiny bit smaller, she would have slipped through that gate and would still be out there! I curse Lady Luck every week when I don't win the lottery, but she was there when it mattered yesterday.

Update in mo!!!
Greylady
Wow! Great that you saw her Nicky - but how frustrating that she is in such a state of high alert that she can't switch on and come back to you. Lost of people out looking for her, and I know you need help with postering -

I think we could do with some leaflets - and wonder if Majorjet could do them for us??? :-)

C'mon Pippi please be caught xxx
nickyc
I actually saw her on the recreation ground behind the sports Centre at 7.30am. Unfortunately she took fright and headed down the lanes.

I have been up there this luchtime with my hounds and I think she is using the lanes and roads to cut through to HC.

No sign of her though. THANK YOU ALL....Last edited: 2011-03-22 14:05:12 by nickyc

I have just spent about 45 mins up there driving around and spent a while sitting on Grittleton Road. There is some allotments in the road Opposite Priory Road, just off of Grittleton that may be a good hiding place for her?
I am out running tonight so will go that way. Really hope that she is found soon. xxx
dinkydoodle
Let's hope they can get Pippi - I know ML has just finished looking and did not see her; if they cannot get Pippi can anyone can put posters this afternoon on Kellaway Ave, Monks Park Rd and Southmead Rd please? I can't do this until later tea time ish - hope it won't be necessary, come on Pippi give yourself up.x.
Just Jackie
Only wish I was close enough to be of some practical help. Have cross-posted on facebook. Hurry home Pippi,♥ so sorry Nicky ((hugs))
whippetlady
Thanks Spindle - sounds as if Nicky is closing in on her. Let's hope there's some good news soon.
Spindle
whippetlady, owner on way there now. She is around the sports centre still running so please if anyone sees dont chase call owner. At present staying away from the main road thank goodness.
whippetlady
Hi Spindle - you say she is running 'between Grittleton Road and Horfield Common' - do you know whether she is keeping to main roads (A38 Gloucester Road), or is she cutting through gardens and open ground behind Horfield Sports Centre? There is a maze of small roads and interconnecting alleyways around there. I am at work today, but will do another walk around the area tonight if she has not turned up by then. Eleanor
Berties Family

Went out at 4.30am. No sign. Have to go to work today. Nx
dinkydoodle
Hi nickyc, great you've had sightings of your lovely girl since we spoke this afternoon; I'm at work tomorrow till 2.30pm but I'll call you and see if you've heard anymore and can then either put up some posters or have a hunt round the relevant area. Stay safe Pippi until we find you.x.
whippetlady
Just been out scouring the maze of roads behind and around Southmead Hospital - nothing doing, and the local cats looked much too laid back to have been in recent close contact with a whippet! However, it is bin-emptying day tomorrow round there, and all the kitchen bins are out on the pavement, so a hungry dog might just be out on the pavement rather than hiding in gardens - let's hope so, and that she is spotted soon. Try to get some sleep Nicky -easier said than done, I know. Eleanor
Greylady
Nicky one of my friends lives close to you and is currently out looking for pippi - he has children at school in the local area and will put the word out too. I have emailed you xxx
doglover1
Sorry I am not able to help look tonight or tomorrow but wont have my car! I have emailed Southmead Hospital Pippi's missing poster asking them to circulate to hospital staff as its a huge site and the sightings are near the hospital, may also be worth taking some posters into them and sticking posters up around the hospital grounds, also Horfield Leisure centre. I hope you have some good news soon Nicky.x Last edited: 2011-03-21 19:58:52 by doglover1
trish
I've driven around most of the residential streets that back onto Southmead Hospital and near to Grittleton Rd, but sadly didnt spot Pippi. I'll look again tomorrow evening after work. Stay safe Pippi
Spindle
Owner will be back out there shortly along with brilliant dog warden helping her. Please call if seen straight away.
ML
Nicky, I'm really sorry I can't get out to help tonight. I should have a couple of hours in the morning where I can get out to have a look round and put some posters up. I hope that you have got some people out helping you tonight?? Good Luck! xxx
Greylady
Nicky you are doing so well - the postering and leafletting is going really well and is bringing results!

if there is anyone local please can you help with postering in the local area - particularly in the local dog walking areas and Golden Hill Tescos, Southmead Hospital etc.

Please don't try to catch Pippi as she is very nervous - so please call Nicky is there are any sightings, as soon as they happen!
Spindle
Bumped, we need help, anyone around? Please call owner on mobile if so.
nickyc
Please note:
Two sightings: Horfield Common and Grittleton Road, off Monks Park Avenue.

Help would be appreciated, please.
