Grace's owner has very kindly made a donation to Jilly's Jolly Jaunt and I thought I would post her lovely message here:

Many thanks for helping to find my Romanian rescue dog, Grace, 2 years ago. I have never forgotten how all the "doggie people" rallied round when she escaped after one day with me. I re-named her Cassie and she's fine. Last edited: 2013-06-08 22:25:56

BH
Grace's new name is Cassie and I'm thrilled to have her home and so grateful to everyone for the help and support I've had. She's settling down nicely and loves her bed in my sun room. I take her in the garden on a long lead, but she's always happy to get back inside, so I guess she feels safe there.I feel for everyone still searching for their pets. It's a horrible experience. Thank you all for your comments and interest in Cassie's safe return. It really helped me.
BC
Also a very big thank you to the local people in wyverston, especially Jenny, Bacton, thanks Lin for letting Martyn hide up in your house all night, Mendlesham and Cotton, etc, people were ringing Beryl all the time with sightings, the locals all pulled together to get Grace home, she has now been renamed Caffie, half my name and half crissys (thank you Beryl) its a nice tribute, i thought macafffie, part of martyn's name as well, but thanks to everyone who helped, and perhaps i havnt mentioned, there were so many, xx
BC

So glad Grace is back home :) Fantastic news!
BC
Ok this is how the capture went:- Martin was watching Grace unti about 5.30 am this morning with night vision goggles, she kept going right up to the trap, obviously interested in the food, but wouldnt go in to it, he laced some sausage with acp, which she ate, he then followed her until she rested, and he tried to sneak up on her, she took off running, as though she hadnt been sedated at all, the adrenaline must of kicked in and he could see she was getting a bit wobbly on her legs, he continued to follow her until she stopped to rest on a bank, he sneaked up on her, and dived on her, getting bitten in the process, he had gloves on and she wouldnt let go, so he has quite a bite to his finger, never mind hes a tough cookie, LOL.
He then had to to carry her back to the playing fields, and put her in the trap, and then she was delivered back to Beryl's by a lady with a range rover, who had enough room to get the trap into her boot, im sorry i didnt get her name, but thank you, then the trap was taken into Beryls house, and then she was unloaded, no one was taking any chances, until she was inside. Thanks Martin for your persiverance, you are an absolute gent, and a star !!!!

Come on Grace!!! got my fingers crossed that tonight is the night!!!

Had a phone call to say Grace is about 3 feet from the trap, i hope to god she decides to take a look inside, fingers crossed, and everything else
BC
The latest is that after more sightings all week and several traps now in existance plus sedatives to hand if they can be used safely enough, we still haven't got close enough to Gracie to actually secure her either by hand or by trap!

Earlier today Beryl and Martin were watching her rolling on her back enjoying the sun in the newly ploughed field next to the playing field in Bacton. She didn't seem to have a care in the world! They watched her for a bit then she got spooked by some dog walkers and trotted off. They think she's eaten some food that they'd left out yesterday and she also drank some water left out by a neighbour who saw her but couldn't grab her. Martin is staying awake all night tonight and has his full array of equipment to hand this time. The main trap close to the playing fields has been moved slightly and reset. Martin can active it from inside the nearest house where he's kindly been allowed to base himself. They are also havng another BBQ to try and entice her with the smells.

The good news is that she appears to be staying in the same fairly small radius but she still avioids being contained or coming to anyone. We need to leave enough food down that she wants to keep to the area but not so much that she's not hungry enough to fall for the food left as bait in the trap.

Madmutz Dog Walking
Any more news on this girlie?
BC
Grace is still around the playing fields in Bacton, they saw her this morning, and she disappeared into the wooded area again, and they havnt seen her since, perhaps shes resting somewhere, but they couldnt find her, traps set at the playing fields tonight
BC
Grace has appeared in the East Anglian Times today, thank you very much for including her

Thanks BC for keeping us up-dated, it's good that she seems more settled and not running scared, please please let it be tonight she is home x
BC
Chrissy Phillips Guys more news! They've just seen her again, same area and.... I've just had a call from a local man who didn't realise a missing dog was loose and he's been seeing her a lot over the last couple of days in that same area, he thinks she's been bedding down there! She's just sauntering around now, not running or nervous. I feel it's only a matter of time! Martin's busy cooking some sausages for max. doggie mouth watering! xx
BC
Just spoke to Beryl. She's been called earlier on about a sighting of Grace in someone's garden, she was eating some bread put out for the birds. Beryl headed up there and from what I understand she had left the garden but as it's close to some playing fields so instead Beryl heading there. After a bit Beryl spotted her close to a shed/building on the playing fields. At this point she was about 5-10 yards from Beryl, she threw some food down but she didn't take it. Beryl gently walked towards her and Grace took two steps towards Beryl but then turned and trotted off (although did not run off like she has in the past). She was then ambling around the field quite content and the one next to it before they lost sight of her heading towards the small wooded enclosure where she was spotted on Sunday. They are possibly going to set up a small BBQ in the woods to create some strong food smells. They are also going to lay a 3rd trap by the shed on the playing fields this evening. Beryl said she looked fine, still had her collar and nametag on and a small part of her lead. They are all gutted of course but so glad to see her knowing she seems to be keeping to the same area xx
angi

Sunday 6th. We've had 2 definite sightings of Grace between Westhorpe and Bacton this morning. We've set another trap near to where she's been seen. The person I had her from has come down today with 4 of her dogs to help search. Please keep reporting any sightings.
BC
Everyones been out again all day today, no sightings of Grace, we were told of a sighting tonight and we thought she was heading back to Wyverston, but ive just spoken to martin, and he said the sighting was a few days ago and not today, trap has been rebaited just in case, because the sighting the other day was only a couple of fields away from where she had gone missing
BH
Yes I've put lots of posters up in Botesdale area today. Meeting at Wyverstone village hall at 1pm Sat for anyone who can make it.
BC
I think Beryl (BH)Grace's owner, has postered botesdale today, if not it will be done tommorow
BC
If anyone is able to help on saturday chrissy and martin will be up there and Beryl, chrissys mobile is 07971860405 give her a call and she can tell you where abouts they are , thanks
Paw
Don't know if I will be able to get out that way this weekend but if I do are there any planned meeting times/points for organising searches? It would most likely be sometime Saturday afternoon if I do come.
BH
Thanks to everyone concerned about Grace and to all who are searching for her. I'm really grateful as I'm devastated by her loss. No luck yet but we're following up all possible sightings. Please keep her in mind.
laurie
Have put on my Facebook for you hope she is home soon xx

BC
bbc Radio Suffolk, have done several announcements for Grace, they were really helpful, havn't heard anything back from East Anlia Radio,Town FM, or Ipswich Community Radio
BC
Gill from The Border Collie Spot is also going there on Sunday
BC
Sorry helen, just feeling rather stressed at the moment, no dont worry we do have things in hand, short on volunteers to hunt for her, Martin the dog trapper is going again Saturday, if you could drum up any support for help over the weekend, that would be great

BC - I haven't been in touch with the owner's as I am just back from my holidays and Gracie went missing while I was away. Sounds like every angle has been covered but if you would like me to call them I will.
BC
Not that there is any need now for you to do so , as we have been in touch with radio, newspapers, councils, kennels, and are doing everything we can to get Grace home safely
BC
We are in regular contact with Tanya at West End Kennels, and they already have poster, photos etc of Grace, i emailed the poster to her the day after grace went missing, she has even offered to come out if she can help, so is very aware of Grace's situation. The milkman has disgarded the lead, so we are not 100% it was Grace's lead, but part of a lead was found tangles around a metal spike holding down a swimming pool cover, so if the extendi part had come off, it could still be trailing the thin cord. Helen have you actually been in touch with the owner ???
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Thanks beardies in need, I have E-mailed a poster to West End Farm Kennels but agree the owners should be in daily contact with them, hopefully we will have some news very soon xx
beardies in need
West End Kennels, Worlds end Lane, Buxhall, nr Stowmarket. IP14 3ED. tel 01449 737641 need contacting daily as they have so many dogs taken there. Only last week 1 was there lost from East Bergholt. So someone please call them everyday.
beardies in need
I work in Mendlesham and not really that near to Wyvestone, would this have been Grace or a different dog? I was talking to Martyn last night bless him he was very cold, also the dog at Botesdale may be closer to Wyvestone, but I thought the lead on Grace had been found in a garden?More help is needed in the Wyvestone area radio Suffolk morning show is the best to do this appeal they have done it in the past for me, but today they are at the new childrens hospice in Ipswich so may be better to call them to do it in the morning 9am on the Mark Murphy show 01473 212121. Hope this helps and poor Grace soon found.
Luby
So sorry to hear of this little girls plight. To have come so far and for this to happen! Take posters to postal delivery offices as postmen do cover a lot of ground and do keep an eye out for lost dogs if their aware their missing. Hope Grace is soon found safe and sound. Bless her!

E-mail in admin:

Hi I saw a lost dog today at 1:30pm on the B1113 near botesdale norfolk, it ran out in front of my car I stopped but it seemed very nervous; ran away over fields
heading towards the A143 Bury Rd, tried to head it off but lost it when I was on
the A143, it was like a spaniel, light brown all over, quite thin; had a
collar; black lead still on it

DogLostReynard
Oh! fingers crossed then , good luck Martyn & Grace xxx

Just heard on Radio Suffolk that she was seen scavenging on the road near Mendlesham Green - can't remember if it was last night or this morning! Hope this is near the 2 gardens where she's been seen.Last edited: 2011-03-03 13:11:16 by Paw

Untill Martyn and the trap get there someone need to keep putting food in the 2 gardens to keep her in the area. hope you get her safe today.Martyn is great.

Poor dog, a new start to her life and this happens - hopefully she will be home soon in a nice warm bed.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Poor little Grace. What a lovely name; hope she is caught very soon. She obviously needs all the love and kindness she can get. If she was a street dog, she is probably used to scavenging, so hopefully she will survive okay. Just keep her safe. x
BC
It appears that Grace is travelling between two gardens, the window cleaner found her lead in the garden next door to where she was seen this morning, chrissy and beryl have been there most of the day, but no sightings of her, hopefully a trap is coming this afternoon, and we are going to set it in the gardens, with some nice smelly food in it, the garden where the lead was found had already been looked at so she must of returned there during the day
BC
Thank you Nina

I have just googled Wyvanstone and sat down and emailed as many people with an email address that I could find ..even the churches!
BC
Nice suggestion Nina, we are having trouble finding british citizens to help, not sure where we would locate any Romanian Field Workers, but Chrissy has her Romanian translation dictionary with her, x
BC
Thanks Shereen !!!!!!!!!!!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bumped due to this mornings sighting
DogLostNina
Hello BC this may be a silly suggestion. Do you know if there are any Romanian field workers around who could help if she hears speach that she recognizes it might help.
BC
Hi Nina, we are the rescue that re=homed her, chrissy from romanian aid is going there today, we have martin soar and gill going there tommorow, but the area is mostly fields, we could do with some help in trying to locate her.
beardies in need
Has anyone been puttin smelly tinned fish out in the area where Grace went missing?
If anyone get sightings we have a trap that can be used. Hope get some news soon poor Grace.
DogLostNina
If Grace was rehomed are the dog rescue that she came from involved in trying to find her.
BC
We have just had a phone call to say that Grace has been sighted this morning, she was in a garden near where she went missing, the owner is going there now, is there anyone in the area that could assist her, thanks
HARRY
Already have driven around Wyverstone & Westhorpe late last night. Put link on to facebook, forwarded this page to all email friends in area and put up posters on footpaths etc near me, sorry no sign of her yet!?
DogLostNina
Why not stick a poster up in the job centre, plenty of people use their offices and they may be the people who have the time to go out looking. Good luck.
BC
Managed to get BBC Radio Suffolk to put her on the radio today, she has been on twice so hopefully may get some sightings of her, also waiting to hear from Heart Radio, had to email them, also facebook group started, is there anyone local can help the elderly lady to search??
AlisonH
Flyers made up and emailed to owner along with link to her missing poster and helpful info.
AlisonH
Have tried to call owner but phone is just ringing out. Will try again later.
mandym
Posted to my f/b page....
BC
Grace is not an agressive dog, if she was cornered she would not bite, she would give up, the worry is she still has an extendi lead which could easily get caught up, so any help please, the lady is elderly and not sure what to do
Shereen
Alerts sent out to helpers in IP1,IP14,IP23,IP6,IP7,IP8
BC
Grace is a dog that came over from Romania, and was homed yesterday, the lady had her in the boot of her car, and was taking her to a quiet bridle path, as she is a nervoucs dog, she partially opened the boot to get her out, and Grace shot out of the boot, and took off still attached to the extendi-lead. Any help locally would be very much appreciated
