Sarah Hough
Today I came to a very hard decision and I'm not going to Persue my search for Tamba,I have a long term illness and unfortunately the search for Tamba is making my health condition worse, the decision to stop has not been taken lightly and is one of the hardest choices to make but after consideration( and an eye opener lecture from my sister) it is the fact that as its been four years, I cannot ask someone to give up their pet, it would cause heartache and also cause distress to Tamba. Plus the fact that due to my deteriorating ill health, I can't be sure that I can give Tamba the excersize that he would need.also it has Been so long now, I don't know what tambas temperament is like now etc and as I have a toddler it would be unfair on Tamba to uproot him from a family, to then realise that if anything should happen to then have to rehome him, I do hope everyone who is following me understands and respects my decision. And I thank you all for your support Xx
Sarah Hough
Well what can I say....... After I went to three oaks boarding kennels, I went to Winchester city council to see if there was anyone higher up than Dave griffiths but I was told no, I then left my phone number for him to contact me, I was told it would be passed directly to him. However when I got home I also sent an email to Dave and I got an automated response saying he was on leave until 19th July, ( the receptionist at the council didn't state anything about him being on leave)so I find this very strange!!! However I recently did an online question to the council through "the what do they know" and I had a very detailed email back stating the handover forms that all stray dogs have and the council do keep copy's of, aswell as a list of all the rescue societies that the council used from Feb 2012, all this information was sent by an Abigail tons of environmental health department of the council.
I've spoken to someone today to get some advice and they have told me to try and arrange an appointment to speak to this Abigail or someone else in that department about Tamba to see if I can get anymore information or even get to see the copy of the handover form Xx
Sarah Hough
Thanks skywalker99, the girl who I spoke to was very guarded about what she said, however she did say that there has been a big ooh ha over a dog named Tamba, but she didn't state what it was.she said that they are only a holding kennels so he would of stayed for the 7 days, after that the kennel would do what they wish with the dog??? I've tried to email the dog warden and he is apparently on holiday till the 19th. I went to the council on the day I visited the kennels and the receptionist didn't say anything about him being away Xx
Skywalker99
So I would ask specific questions of the kennels like 'did they rehome him or pass him to a rescue?'. There is no reason they can not answer that question. If they rehiomed him ask if they would pass on a letter from you to his new owners. Write a nice letter explaining what happened, and say that you just want to know he is safe, well and loved and that you would like to see some pictures of him.
Sarah Hough
Also forgot to add,,, tambas chip is now all updated with my details so should he be scanned, he would flag up as missing Xx
Sarah Hough
# update - I've been to see three oaks boarding kennels today and all they could tell me was that they did have a dog named Tamba there but they couldn't give me any details (however at one point the girl named BOBBIE who I spoke to said that they do keep details for 6years) she told me that I have to refer back to Dave griffiths(dog warden) but also mentioned safe and sound and the rspca!!!??? I don't think I was getting told the whole story once again and it's made me even more determined to find him now, also I keep looking at his found picture on here, it looks as though there is some kind of sign on the wall to the left of Tamba, it looks as though it's a dogs head of some sort but I can't really zoom in enough Xx
Sarah Hough
#update I'm getting really worried now as I had a phone call from the microchip company and they have flagged Tamba up as missing but what's worrying me is the fact that there has been no activity on tambas record at all 😒 no one has tried to update his details,, what could this mean ??? I hope not the worst Xx
Sarah Hough
I've asked the dog warden for Winchester city council, Dave griffiths if he knows who Mandy m is and he says he has no idea who she is ??. The search continues Xx
Sarah Hough
Hey
tamba was taken to Winchester city council, because my sister in law said she found him in the Winchester area. The picture was not taken at the vets and also he has said that Tamba did go there but they have no other details at all , it seems to be abit dodgy tbh Xx
Skywalker99
also...in his found picture he seems to be at a kennels...wonder if anyone might recognise the background?
Skywalker99
So having been caught out not checking properly, they checked. You need to ask them which rescues they use, whether they ever use rescues that are not local. Then I think you need to contact all rescues in Hampshire which will be a big job. There is a possibility that he was registered found with them but was never in their care. It is possible that someone who worked at the vets looked after him rather than him go to kennels...this might explain why he seems to have been reported to winchester and not east hants. TRy contacting the vets again and ask under what circumstances they would report a dog to winchester rather than east hants
Sarah Hough
Really confused 😫, so I had a reply back from Winchester city council and they said they have no records of Tamba going to them, I then disputed the fact that it is a Winchester number on the dog lost found post , they then reply saying they have found a record of him going to them 😳, but they don't know where he went from there and again the good old saying " after7 days, he becomes council property " I am so distraught as I feel they aren't telling me the whole truth!!! How can they not know where he was taken ???? 😒😫 Xx
Sarah Hough
Thankyou Xx

if you post the link to his p[age on here people will find it easier to find the group.
Sarah Hough
I meant fb group tamba's army Xx
Sarah Hough
Please join and add members to my fab group tamba's army,, we need to get this pup home 😍,,, thanks again skywalker99 I have added his post to murph ya army and Harvey's army , let's see what the power of fab can do πŸ˜ƒ, feeling hopeful, I'm also off to three oaks boarding kennels in bishops Waltham today as they are contracted to Winchester city council Xx
Skywalker99
Have you got him on harveys army and get Murphy home Facebook pages? Also there is a Doglost FB page for every county. Is it worth putting an advert with a photo in Winchester local paper? Facebook pages like spotted Winchester would be good to post too.Last edited: 2016-06-01 20:14:27 by Skywalker99
Skywalker99
If Mandym wasn't the dogwarden and was just crossposting from somewhere she must have found him online somewhere...question is where.
Sarah Hough
Thank you skywalker99 once again you have inspired me to keep searching πŸ˜ƒ,,, I was almost giving up hope tbh, I will get straight on to it Xx
Skywalker99
Google indicates that dogwarden for east hants was Dave Griffith's and in 2015 he had moved to Winchester city council. Suggest you ring them and speak to him
Skywalker99
Have you found out who Mandyw is on his found listing? That listing looks as though it was made by a dogwarden so whichever council it was you need to go back to them and tell them there is evidence on Doglost he was with them and please would they check their records again. I would also ask east hangs which rescues they would have been using in 2012 and contact them.
Sarah Hough
Well I've been to speak to the vets today where Tamba was taken and they said that they would have passed Tamba on to the east hants district council, so once again I'm at a dead end !!! I really don't know where to go from here 😒 Xx
Sarah Hough
Well ehdc have said that they've looked through all the records for 2012, and they said that no dogs matching tambas description was taken by them Xx
Sarah Hough
I have been told that the east hants district council dog warden was David ??? I do not know his surname , anyone know him ??? Xx
Sarah Hough
I have indeed, thx very much Xx
Skywalker99
national pet register....but I see you have removedLast edited: 2016-05-17 14:31:29 by Skywalker99
Sarah Hough
Oh my god I never realised , which one is it please ?? Many thx Xx
Skywalker99
Sarah, you need to remove tamb as chip no from public view on other sites you have listed him. If someone else saw him advertised and knew his chip number they could claim him. Post on here if you are not sure which site it is visible in and I will text the name to you.
Sarah Hough
I sure canπŸ˜ƒ, thanks again Xx
Skywalker99
And make sure the chip company flag him as missing.
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Sarah, can you email the links to this page and the found page to Winchester council so that they can re check their records again?
Sarah Hough
I am doing it tomorrow πŸ˜ƒ, I'm also going to the vets where he was taken too and I'm going to go to the house where we used to live to leave my details just in case anyone try's to contact me Xx
Skywalker99
No problem. I would get the chip details changed a sap as no the law has changed on microchipping whoever has him now may try to change them. I hope you find that he is safe and well.
Sarah Hough
Hollieberry - I did not know much about where or whom took Tamba !! All I got told was he's gone to a new home !!! I'm absolutely disgusted about how and why he was taken !!! It was all out of spite !! I'm afraid to say, and I've only recently been told the facts !! I never new the truth and I never knew about dog lost etc, so I didn't really know what I could do. Thx skywalker99 for your helpful advice and comments Xx
Skywalker99
We do not know the facts of what sarahwas told 4 years ago. She says she has new info...
Hollieberry
I don't mean to be rude Sarah why dident you do all these things when Tamba first went missing ?
Sarah Hough
He was the most amazing dog ❀️ Xx
Sarah Hough
Ah I never thought about that !!! What I'm going to do is change his details over to me but still use the same name. That way they shouldn't need to go back to his old address, and I'm going to phone anibase aswell to see if they have any records of him being scanned anywhere ??, and I will email dog lost too, thanks for your advice Xx
Skywalker99
might be worth talking to these www.thepetdetectives.com if not too expensive
Skywalker99
I think anibase will not change ownership on chips without checking with previous owner first. Given the circumstances they may have tried and not been able to make contact. Do anibase know if he has ever been scanned apart from when he got taken to the vets? you definitely need to get his chip contact details updated to you so that you get contacted. have you asked doglost if they are able to contact the person who listed him as found and see if they know where he went. He looks a nice happy dog.
Sarah Hough
Thx so much again for all your advice πŸ˜ƒ, surely if he was rehomed then his details would of changed on the database ???? I'm going to Change his details to me as my ex is paralysed following the accident so he has had to move from that property and as it was sold through my exs dad any correspondence that the new occupier receives they would probably forward it to my exs sister as his mother and father live in st tropez !!! As I said it is very complicated 😒 Xx
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
The chip number is on our records.
Skywalker99
If you put his chip number on doglost if he is scanned with a halo scanner it will come up to say contact doglost. You should contact anibase and get him flagged as missing so that if anyone tries to change his details they contact the registered owner. If you are confident your ex would not let his details be changed or would let you know if he was contacted you don't need to change his details othyerwise might eb a good idea to. might be worth contacting all neighbouring dog wardens e.g. hart district council, also post him to FB pages like harveys army, murphys army. However, if he was rehomed 4 years ago someone else may love him very much too, so would keep your request to wanting to know if he is safe and well.
Sarah Hough
Also forgot to say that I had a response back from Winchester city council and they have advised me that they have no record of him being taken to there, they suggested I try east hants district council as that would of been their area too Xx
Sarah Hough
He is on the anibase database but I cannot log on to it as I don't have the password but when I went to the vets yesterday, they told me that his details haven't changed and he is still registered to me, ( or at least my surname otherwise they wouldn't of given me his chip number!!! Also I'm not too sure if changing his details will complicate things ??? I may just do that Facebook page thanks again Xx
Skywalker99
So is he now registered as missing with the chip company and are the contact details up to date? At least if he went to a rescue he should have been rehiomed responsibly. I would say you want to know if he is safe and well. Have you considered setting up a Facebook page to find him?
Sarah Hough
Great news !!! I have been to most rescue centres in Southampton today and I got some great advice from Helen at - st Francis animal welfare and she suggested I go back to the vets where Tamba was microchipped, so without fail that's what I did and I got the microchip number and they have also checked it and he is still registered in our name and the address where he was stolen from Xx
Sarah Hough
Thanks so much sky walker99, I have had a look on those rehoming centres websites and I believe that Tamba was taken to second chance rescue in Southampton as I have seen two pictures of him on there. I have emailed them and I am hoping that we can visit soon, many thanks again XxLast edited: 2016-05-12 00:33:10 by Sarah Hough
Skywalker99
Do you know if his chip details have ever been changed? It may be better after all this time to say that you just want to know whether Tamba is safe and well. I think you may find it very difficult to get him back if you find him, you will need evidence he was taken without permission and that you have been searching for him. Winchester council list 4 rescues on their website they are here :
St Francis Animal Shelter, Fair Oak 02380 693 282
Second Chance Rescue, Southampton 02380 693 282
Blue Cross, Southampton 02380 692 894
RSPCA, Stubbington 01329 667 541

but they probably use others in the area...try yellow pages.
Sarah Hough
I have also emailed Winchester city council to get any information as to where Tamba was taken too, I'm just awaiting a reply Xx
Sarah Hough
Tamba was registered to my ex but he was in Kings college hospital in an induced coma, so he was unable to get the letter plus it was also removed by his sister before he got home from hospital. I was unable to gain entry into his house however I wasn't told about what had happened to him until recently. Thanks for your advice Xx
Skywalker99
I'm guessing that your contact details were not on his chip and that he wasn't living with you at the time or you would have got him back? I would be grateful he wasn't taken to the vet to be pts. Not sure what else you can do, try ringing the number on his found post. Try and find out which dog warden and which rescue he may have gone to. Ring Trevor Cooper again, for more advice.
Sarah Hough
Ive added a comment to the advertiser, but legally what can I do now ??? Any advice ??? Xx
Sarah Hough
I've been on here looking through the found dogs on here and I've found him, his ID number 37295....... Please can anyone help me !!!!!! Xx
Sarah Hough
He was taken there by my sister in law following my ex husbands motor bike accident, he was in icu, it's a long story but because of family dispute she took his collar off (not knowing he was microchipped) and said she had found him!!!! He was then taken from there by the dog warden and I do not know what happened to him after that !!! ,,, I don't even know what dog warden it was !!!
Rose
Do you know why he was taken to the vet? x
Sarah Hough
Still have had no luck 😒 Xx
Sarah Hough
Exactly he shouldn't of been taken, thanks very much Xx
Skywalker99
It is correct that if strays are npt claimed within 7 days dogs become property of the council, but if Tamba was taken without your permission then he wasn't a stray.
Sarah Hough
I've also been told that I would have no legal rights as he wasn't collected in the 7 days, he would then be the councils legal property to rehome etc Xx
Sarah Hough
Thanks skywalker99 , I have emailed him, so hopefully I can get some more information XxLast edited: 2016-05-03 13:29:04 by Sarah Hough
Skywalker99
Sarah, I suggest you contact Trevor Cooper at www.doglaw.co.uk, they have a premium rate advice line so no huge legal fees. They should be able to advise on whether you can get info from the vets/dog warden.
Sarah Hough
Tamba was registered to my ex husband, but because of a family dispute following my exes accident, I was unable to obtain any information as to where he was taken etc Xx
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Please update microchip details - they are not seen by general public but if scanned on a halo scanner it will show as missing.
Has this been reported to petlog and marked as missing? Whose details are registered on the chip as this would be the point of contact if scanned.

Thanks for your reply, we are so desperate to find him, he was taken from us and at the time I had no access into the property to get the dog wardens number and I didn't know the whole story as to where he was taken and by whom!!! I have phoned the vets and the dog wardens since but to no avail 😒 XxLast edited: 2016-05-02 23:55:55 by Sarah Hough

Sorry to see that TAMBA is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (99742)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
