Well done journalist Tracey was contacted by the Metropolitan police press officer who was appalled to know how the case had been handled and has assigned her an officer to help-I really think we will get Barney back shortly!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please do not contact owner direct-she is too upset-call me please on 01909 730077. We have now got a dogmad local journalist onto the case who is approaching the cheif of the Metropolitan police on owners behalf. She has had contact with them before and they are very wary of her! She is absolutely appalled by the treatment this lady has received and luckily lives in Streatham and knows the local police as well-I have a very good feeling that she will get some action on this one shortly!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another bit of advice from member of K9search QUOTE Have just spoken to friend who used to be a CPS lawyer and he said the police often say its a civil matter when it isn't. If the dog was stolen or disappeared as a direct result of being attacked then the fact that there were aggravating circumstances suggests it was robbery. I hope she's made a statement re the orginal attack and if not then may be do so now and make it official. This is not a civil matter just a copout by the police. I would go higher up in the police in that area. UNQUOTE Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from a guy who knows what hes talking about. He says to make an offical complaint about the police officer who refused to help saying it was civil.....he assures me that should get the ball rolling in the right direction. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Crossposted to K9search for advise. One reply so far and it read QUOTE Can?t help directly but the reaction of the police is disgusting. It?s theft, how is that not a matter for the police? I would suggest she or someone else kicks up an almighty fuss with the police to get them round to that address asap before the dog is moved on. Unless she knows some people that could go on her behalf who would be more use than this particular police force seem to be? Perhaps if she were to inform the police that she will contact her local paper and make a complaint, they might take action. God, if this was a blinking stolen car, pc, whatever, they?d be round there like a shot, or at least they should be. Was the theft reported in the firstplace? Shouldn?t she have been given a crime no or something as you would if anything else was stolen? I know a dog was stolen from this area and somehow an address was discovered and the police DID go there. The dog wasn?t there but was found shortly afterwards dumped in town so obviously the people got frightened and let the dog go. Thankfully the dog wasn?t hurt. What about trying one of the legal organisations for dogs? I Know they usually assist with the DDA etc but perhaps they can advice/make a phone call on this lady?s behalf? My other suggestion would be to try Battersea in case they can offer any advice, they can?t be very far from Streatham. Good luck to this poor family Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a quick chat with owner, she had to go out and she will ring me back. If they attacked her daughter to steal the dog.....it IS a Police matter. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Further information: Although snatched in front of her daughter police will not give a crime number-they say it is a civil matter!!!! Owner has had a call saying where her dog is but police will not act-they have advised lady-who lives in Kent to go round and ask for him back! She is in a wheel chair with no transport! Can anyone assist? Dog is in Streatham area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
