Still looking for Doug. Please keep sharing.
Went postereing and leafleting in Blacon, Countess Hospital Country Park and Wheatsheaf pub.
Spoke to lots of lovely, helpful people but no one had seen Doug, although some had already seen his posters. The more people looking the better.
It would be great to get some news soon.
Samantha170
Neither lead was Doug by the sounds of it... If anyone can think of anything worth trying then please do let me know x
Samantha170
I've had a message left by a lady that saw a poster at Crabwell Manor (Chester) and knew of a dog matching Doug's description found in the area. She didn't leave her number as she said on the message I would now have it on my phone and I haven't(!) She said it was reported on Animal Search and I've found the link below, which could be Doug... No dog wardens or kennels I've spoken to have anything other than a sighting last week of a dog in Colwyn Bay, which matches Doug, but he/she couldn't be caught as he ran away... I'm waiting for the lady on Animal Search who posted to respond to my message, but please, please if anyone knows anyone who could have information, let me know... This might just be my Dougy x

Will keep looking and spreading the word. It does seem strange that he hasn't been seen at all. Perhaps someone has taken him in. One day his chip will reunite him with you.
Samantha170
Still no sightings and it'll be five week tomorrow...
Samantha170
Yes,polling stations sound like an excellent idea. I'll certainly do that if I'm allowed. Sarah - thank you so much and no problem at all about he Hornby dog. Any slight chance is worth exploring... x
Veronica
Just a thought, local elections coming up. Polling stations might be good places to put posters, if you're allowed.

Thank you so much Sarah for the thunderclap.

Please support DOUG's THUNDERCLAP on fb or twitter created by Sarah.

THANK YOU Sarah Williams (PUP's owner) you are amazing with the support you give to other others while you are searching for your missing PUP. XXX

The Hornby dog turned out to belong to a local farmer, and is now safely home. Sorry to raise false hopes, but at least he is now eliminated as a possibility.
Samantha170
Great. Thanks. I have spoken to a few kennels and dogs homes in the Lancaster area, as well as a few Dog Wardens and Farmers. I'll really hit this tomorrow morning when office hours start, but yes, anything you can find out would be so helpful. Thank you xxx
FJM
Sorry, no - it came up in conversation with another dog walker. I was told the finder planned on getting the dog scanned for a microchip when he visited the livestock auction - that would probably have been Bentham, which is why I suggested the Skipton warden as well as the Lancaster one. I will see if I can find out more, if only to rule this dog out.Last edited: 2016-04-28 18:08:41 by FJM
Samantha170
Hi, Do you have details of the farmer? Sam x
FJM
This is an extremely long shot, but a male border collie with a lot of white on his face was found in Hornby, Lancaster around the time Doug went missing. The farmer who found him planned to get him checked for a chip, but we know that sometimes chips are not found. All details I have are at second hand, so I don't know if an owner was found, but it would be worth checking with the dog wardens in Lancaster and Skipton just to be sure - it is a pretty direct run by motorway from Saughall to Lancaster.
Samantha170
Thank you so much Veronica. I'm going to speak to the local papers tomorrow and try and get something in them if I can... Will poster and leaflet too as much as possible. Rang around the North West dog wardens again and checked with kennels too, but no sign of him yet... Will keep at it x
Veronica
What a lovely way to spend a sunny Saturday morning - "Go Postering"
Ends of paths in lodge Lane, Shotwick Park and Seahill Road old railway line done.
Leaflets left with Saughall Co-op, Farmer's market, Bus Driver (also called Doug so very supportive), in bus stops, allotments, with various dog walkers and Postman who covers Fiddlers Lane area. I've stroked a lot of dogs today.
Unfortunately no one I spoke to had seen Doug yet so we're waiting for that first sighting.
Samantha170
Thanks Veronica. I will do more posters locally and in Blacon etc. as it can't hurt. Miss you Dougy x
Veronica
Keep up the good work Sam. I was about to suggest posters around Blacon. Doug could easily have gone that way. The lady might only have good intentions and not realise that she needs to report a lost dog to the warden or get it checked for a chip.
Fingers staying crossed.
Samantha170
My sister was speaking to someone yesterday who felt they'd see a lady with a dog similar to Doug on the cycle path this week between Saughall and Blacon. I'm not sure if anything will come of it, but my sister is walking her dog down that way more now and I'll do the same. The woman is going to stop and ask about the dog if she suspects it's Doug next time she sees her and has chance for a closer look. It could be that someone older has taken him in maybe and not sure what to do if he's lost his collar... I'm not sure? Maybe clutching at straws? I will get some more posters put along there just in case and if anyone in the area could keep an extra eye out that would be fantastic! x
Samantha170
thank you. We will never give up searching or hope of finding him! So grateful for everyone's help... I hope to be posting a picture of my son Hugh (7) and his beloved Doug one day soon! Thanks all x

Keep searching Samantha and never give up hope Doug is out there somewhere x
Samantha170
Hi - We've checked holes etc. in the area and no sign. The dog linked to by Sharon is sadly not Doug, but is quite like him. Doug is slighter and has only slight black on his ear. Thank you though... We'll keep searching x
Hollieberry
I do not know the area but is there any holes Doug could have fallen down ? I hope he is found soon x

Hi, I'm Sam Doug's owner Thanks to everyone who has shared and to Veronica for updating you all. We're so desperate to have Doug home... He's such a special boy... Very timid and reluctant to go to people, he may be quite scared! As has been said, he's a medium sized dog, irregular markings and a white face. He's very slight in build and very quick. Please, please keep sharing and spreading the word. We will never give up! Thank you x

Thanks so much Veronica for updating us and contacting his owner.

I made contact with owner yesterday and shared his multi pic across fb. Great to see all the shares being done for him. It takes just that one share/poster to be seen and his family get the call they are waiting for.

Veronica
Spoke again with Doug's owner, Sam. She is struggling to log on here at the moment and asked me to add some detail for her.
Doug was playing with his brother, Ed, in the field near the house. They ran off after something and only Ed came back. Doug is very bonded with Ed, who is pining for him.
Since he went missing, 2 weeks ago, Sam has done all the right things. She has contacted chip company, dog wardens (repeatedly), rescues, vets: left posters in relevant places: searched for him with their other dogs: spoken to dog walkers, neighbours and local farmers.
Everyone locally knows that Doug is missing. Unfortunately, there has not been one single sighting.
Please keep sharing for Doug. He's her son's dog and they are all missing him so much.

Have been in contact with owner. I live nearby. She says he's still missing. They are desperate to have him home and would be grateful for any help. I'll be speaking to her again shortly to see what's already been done and what needs to be done, starting with a poster outside my house.
I don't know if she realises yet how helpful the Doglost community is.

Thanks everyone for looking out for Doug and Angus for the msg. I have been out today and just logged on.

Patlucky if you mean the photo in the link Angus sent of a BC walking along a lane that is not Doug, if there is another one you are referring to on fb please post the link. I am just catching up with posts etc. Have seen another photo of Doug being shared and I will try and contact owner and do a group photo a.s.a.p.
BigGSDPatlucky

Please please ask the owner to double check .
I have never seen a dog marked like that.
Please check again owner
