So, so very sorry to hear your loss....you gave Ninja a wonderful life and only you as owner know when it's right. Ninja walks by your side and left his paw print in your heart...make sure to give lots of cuddles to Skye who will grieve with you xx God bless dear Ninja xx

Absolutely devastated to hear from Lynne today that ninja has been fitting, probably neurological and the kindest thing to do was to let him go. He had the life of riley since being adopted and he will now be buried under the tree were he loved to sunbathe. Safe journey lad xxxx

Just to add. A great pity Ninja can't go with Winifred but, on the plus side, hot and tropical places have many more horrible diseases that dogs easily pick up and my own dog's move to UK from Greece has meant that she is no longer exposed to re-infection with Leishmaniasis, which is a horrible killer. She did have it but had expensive new treatment in Greece which had just been invented and now does not test positive for it any more. While in Greece she was in continual danger of being reinfected with it in the summer months and special collars etc are only of limited protection value.

I brought my dog back from Greece in 2008 and it cost me £1000 for the journey alone (turned out BA only fly animals from Athens, no other Greek airport, and only on the evening flight - 1 animal at a time so if someone else has booked their's in you have to wait another 24 hours). Airline weigh dog and travel box (must fit their stringent requirements and cost, at that time, £95 to purchase) and charge per Kg as cargo - therefore it was 800 euros for dog to travel in hold and my one-way ticket to be on same flight was a lot of dosh. Airport is 5 hours from house and Greek public transport does not take animals so had to hire someone to drive me and dog to airport specially. However, the whole enterprise, involving the requirements of the pet passport then (and this was INSIDE the EU so presumably cheaper than outside), a million vet visits, blood tests, rabies shots etc etc and transport to and fro (I don't have a car) - probably about £2000- 2500. I would never do it again but she'd been "my dog in Greece" (I have a house there) for 4-5 years so there was no question of putting her down when I ran out of people to care for her in my absence. She is still pegging along at about 14 years old.

7 years ago my son was going to take his dog to Australia the cost was £3,000 estimate and that price did not include injections ,vet reports ect
Unknown
No idea but I might enquire.

Ninja is a lively little staffie just typical of the breed. It's breaking her heart to leave him but travel costs are so expensive. If we can put some feelers out it would be appreciated. I know all rescues etc are full but he's only a small one!
