Any news? I keep hoping for the best outcome although I know it looks unlikely ... praying for you sweetheart.
charlie and sooty
If this Breed is that bad, why can they sell them on Pets4home? x
Jaycey
Sounds very much like this beautiful girl has been pts. ..so sad :-( xx
Rose
SDK havent said she has been sent to rescue, why couldnt they just say she has been PTS unless she has been sent somewhere for assessment but i doubt that has happened!
ClaireC
Hmmm! I don't suppose for one minute that we will ever know anything different. Thank you GillyP for all that you have tried to do for this dog. xx
Skywalker99
very ambiguous.....
Unknown
Just heard from Lynn who is told by SDK that she is no longer in their care.
Unknown
Council nor SDK will say anything. Sent dog warden a message but not heard so I am thinking she has passed already. Will try dog warden again
.
LindaT
Try calling the local or county council where she was handed in as they pay SDK for the collection service I believe. Am out of the UK so not able to do this sorry. As in my previous post some owners do not tell the truth, they just want the dog taken in for whatever reason & sometimes will say whatever it takes to save face. I'm not saying it is what has happened here but the dogs can't say what the real reason might be so I agree it needs someone to assess the dog on it's own merits who knows what they are doing, but council won't pay for it. She looks very calm and just perplexed to me. I pray she has not been prejudged and PTS

Surely she needs a chance and needs assessing, probably in an adult only home. She is frightened (look at her eyes) and confused, let me know if we can help in anyway to get her where she can become confident and happy.

Any further news?
Millys Mum
I agree Kimmybear - all very worrying. I can think of no reason whatsoever why SDK won't speak to Boerboel rescue, after all they are the experts. It's all sounding very strange and the longer it goes on and the quieter it becomes, the more I worry. Just wish that a well-respected dog expert would pick up on this awful story. I don't 'do' social media but was wondering if this story was being 'discussed' on Facebook.
Rose
GillyP hasnt heard from Lynne the DW since the 4th. But it has been over a weekend so possible not been able to get any info.

I am presuming the worst with this pound, but hoping the best if not too late. Sadly, if SDK won't talk, it seems likely the wrong outcome. Why else would you not talk to the Breed Rescue? Perhaps a Freedom of Information request could go in? Preferably from the Breed Rescue. It costs nothing and is legally available. Worth a try.
charlie and sooty
Any news on this lovely girl? x
Rose
I dread each day that I look on here that I will see her under 'Rainbow Bridge'.
She looks such a beautiful dog and I feel that if she is re-homed with a family that understands the breed, she could have a lovely life. x
digbysmum
Any news? So worried about this lovely girl xx
Unknown
I haven't heard from Lynn (and yes she is very good), but they say this was an owner surrender case so I am presuming 'something' happened. SDK, or whoever wont even talk to the UK based Boerboel rescue/rehoming people, other Mastiff rescues have also been in touch but as she apparently has shown aggression they just wont listen. I will try and get hold of Lynn today.
Millys Mum
Such a worry that someone (perhaps an SDK operative) has made a hasty decision that this girl is aggressive. It's likely that she just confused and being defensive because she's away from her 'family' and normal surroundings. She's a so-called working/guard breed and not a poodle. The thing is how is it that she's suddenly become aggressive? She looks like she's a young adult and so where has she been up to now? What makes me furious is that her previous owners appear to have handed her in for someone else to kill her whilst they just walk away. It's a pity that her previous owners can't be forced to face the truth and be there to witness the horrid sight of such a big, healthy, gorgeous girl being 'put to sleep' (always sounds so much better said that way...). I would be happy to make a donation to a fund that would pay for someone (an expert in Mastiff-type breeds such as Roger Mugford) to assess her properly. I still hope and pray that she can be given a second chance.

Milly` mum. Thanks for your post about rotties. I spoke to someone who has a rottie, and all she wants to do is play, play . plsy. Hope we get a happy result here, and this poor girl can be saved. Paws xd.Last edited: 2015-10-24 21:00:25

Oh no. Shelagh may be right. Gilly can you check who said she was aggressive? Lynn tries to save dogs, so I'd agree with Shelagh here. But, I hate hearing this news and its all the more worrying when it's Redbridge pound.
Shelagh
Thanks for all you doing for sweet girlie. Lynn cook is a very good warden but who actually saw dog being aggressive. Is this another SDK ,dog lover' so called or Lynn herself. If Lynn then that fine but I'm sure that info has come from SDK ,again
Unknown
I spoke with Lynn last night and although this isn't her 'patch' she has heard of this dog. Unfortunately Lynn didn't agree with me that this breed is usually placid, she has met a few that are aggressive. I suppose I can only judge them by what I have seen. Lynn explained that this dog had shown aggression and as her 7 days were up that she probably had already gone over the Bridge. She is calling me this morning to confirm. I don't think it is looking very promising.Last edited: 2015-09-04 07:41:53

Oh I do hope this girl can be saved, it is a sad fact that some people who hand dogs into rescue or decide they don`t want them anymore for whatever excuse they give, some do tell a lie to save their own faces and saying that a dog has shown aggression to either other dogs or humans gives them a "no questions asked" acceptance from some rescues for taking the dog away, whereas just being honest and saying you don`t want the dog is frowned upon even though a rescue will still take the dog; some folk hate to be looked on as uncaring, they can be two-faced in front of other people ggrrr... Whatever this dog`s circumstances her demeanour in the photos doesn`t look in any way aggressive, just confused. Poor girl ... fingers X`d for you, sweetheart x

Lynn Cooke is a great DW - Epping way. She rescues dogs. However, we regularly see a number of issues regarding found dogs in the Redbridge pound. It saddens me to say, but from these pages it is my belief that Redbridge council does not have great DWs. Yes, SDK. I agree with GillyP's thoughts. If anyone can prove us wrong, I would be so grateful. x

janiejewel1649 - we've 'owned' 4 Rottie's over the years (2 boys and 2 girls). We were devastated recently to loose Milly (hence my DL name) to cancer and still, naturally, finding life very difficult without her. She loved life, having fun and was so very knowing and clever - just brilliant company. It's very important to be consistent and fair with these large mastiff-type breeds. Our darling Milly wasn't very confident or brave around strange dogs and her reaction could have been viewed as aggression. SHE WASN'T aggressive, just frightened and just wanted to be left alone with her human and doggie family. Please let someone with experience of similar breeds help this lovely girl. However she's viewed to be reacting, it isn't her fault and likely to be of someone else's making (albeit not intentional). Hoping and praying I will soon be reading better news. Bless this girlie xx

GillyP Thanks for that. Not not heard of the breed before didn`t realize they were THAT soft. Hope for a happy resuly here. Used to be in awe of Rotties, but owners say they van be quite playful. Thanks Milly`s MumLast edited: 2015-09-02 21:28:52

Sincere apologies for causing confusion as to this dog having been PTS.
Millys Mum
I do hope that this lovely girl can be saved. I'm very used to large breeds (have shared our lives with Rotties since 1984) and this girlie does have a calm expression, albeit a little anxious/scared which is hardly surprising. If the owners have signed her over, it's likely that they were just the wrong owners who perhaps weren't prepared or able to spend time and money on socialisation and training. I do hope that someone sees the good in her and gives this beautiful girl a second chance.

Tx GillyP For ringing....Have given GillyP Lynn's number to ring....sorry for mistakingly reporting as rainbow bridge....slap wrists!

Back into found until I speak with Lynn. Thanks Jayne
Unknown
She hasn't gone yet Jayne. I would like to speak to Lynne before we let this one go.
Bonnies' mum
SDK seem to be a law unto themselves!!! Are they not answerable to any one?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Lynne cook is a very well respected dog warden...and a friend and ally to dogs and doglost for many many years....and I am sure nothing to do with this....I will move to rainbow bridge...
Shelagh
Lyn cook is warden for eppinxg. I don't know who warden for Redbridge is. This is just moredodgy dealings by sSDK. GillyP and myself have seen similar things arising there. So sorry for sweet girlie
Unknown
janiejewel1649 they are so soft and silly. Basically they are the equivalent of our English Mastiff so docile.
Unknown
Yes it does seem odd that she didn`t have a muzzle on. I have never heard of this breedm but have googled it, and apparently they make good family pets. They will protect their family but what dog would`nt? Seems okay in the photo.
ClaireC
I think the DW is Lynn Cook. If she isnt the Redbridge DW then she will know who us. Kimmybear would also know who is if not Lynne.
Unknown
Poor dog....agree GillyP too much doesnt add up seems to me the DW was lazy and ignorant of the breed and made up his/hers own mind about this poor Girl..... so very sad seems to me she wasnt given a chance....So much for me sticking up for DW when they get slated ,makes you wonder why I bother when this happens .....Sorry Sweetheart there are some nasty people out there xx
Unknown
As per our e mails Bo, I am not convinced by this story from the DW (more likely to be SDK). Dog was found with harness and lead owner clearly lost her and when called via the chip decided didn't want her back. If so aggressive where is the muzzle and the collar. Only a harness!!. Oh and look at her attacking the legs of the person standing with her!. Also why advertise her on SDK searching for the owner if she is dog and people aggressive she wouldn't need to be placed on the site. Does not add up! If someone knows the Redbridge DW perhaps they might like to ask. Cross does not express my feelings right now!Last edited: 2015-09-02 15:51:06
Bo
Sadly this girl was an owner hand in due to aggression with people and other dogs - despite the UK club trying to help by getting her back to her breeder ( if they could identify the breeder by the chip) - she isn't allowed to be released.
