You did have an adventure Sandra. I would like to have thought that someone would do the same for Bella so perhaps someone has taken her in and not realised she is greatly missed and loved..There are many remote farmhouses around that area ...so good luck .x

out walking with Bella’s daughter Bessie last weekend, covering the same area where Bella went missing Ifound a boxer dog roming loose- no owner in site .he was wearing a collar with name tag.He was friendly but not sure about me when I tried to clip Bessie’s lead on,so I decided to try and gain his confidence by repeatedly calling his name ,try to play with and hopefully catch him.
Just when it looked as though he might be losing interest and run off,I met a couple walking their dog and I called them to help me.
It turned out they knew the dog and they grumbled about the fact that he’s often to be found wandering about on his own.Thankfully they stopped their walk to take the dog back to his home.
After this my walk was spoilt,I kept thinking about Bella ,wondering if anyone might have seen her ,the same way I saw this dog. There was no way I could walk on,or go back home and do nothing... Anyway I’ve decided to re-visit the more isolated farm type houses and cottages in that area. Can’t help thinking that someone must know something.

Today hearts are breaking again as Bella's mate Barney had to be put to sleep. Maybe he will be the one who finds our Bella. It's been such a hard day but at the same time a privilage to be able to put our boy to rest in a dignified manner in the comfort of his own home with his family around him. Now we have to devote our time to looking after their daughter Bessie, who  for the  first time  in her  9 years will have to learn to live with only her human family as companionship.    just needed to write this - feeling so sad. x

I did a very long message about Bella here but has now gone! So... in short please poster @ Vets and Sanctuary's in any area as she must now have been taken in and could be anywhere. Because Bella has been posted again on this site I do hope owner and Dog Warden are still on the case. I live not too far from her home and have postered and looked for Bella when she first came on site and apparently (I am not mobile at the moment) new and old posters are still up in this area.there has been no news about Bella since she was maybe sighted on M4 Motorway when I and others went to look up and down the carrage way. There is a lot of countryside in this area Motorway and Railway and close to Swindon. It is odd that she has not been sighted but not had much info from owner as I do not think able to get on this site. So if any one can poster would be a great help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Well Sandra I am disapointed for you to say the least! This lady was spot on with my freind who could not have known, try to remember all she said to you which may give us something to work on. I would also say it is always best to try more than one medium and I will recommend another to you by PM.xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

well I went to see the medium last night. She was very nice, but I came away un-convinced.She asked if there was anything in particular I wanted to know and I just asked about my grandmother and then asked do our dogs go into the spirit world.? she asked if i'd been visiting or tending a grave recently.(I have a special place in the garden for Bella where I've put two fairies)so I said well not exactly.she said a shrine perhaps.! then she went on to talk about a small dog like a yorkie or jack russel and when i didn't respond to that she said "but I think your dog was bigger than that, what was the size of your dog that's buried in your garden".I told her she was medium size and that she wasn't buried but disappeared... anyway the outcome was she said she saw some sort of accident.Bella hadn't suffered and she felt someone had tended to her body.I'm sure by then she just wanted to put my mind at rest, but unfortunately I still feel none the the wiserLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We went to Newbury show on sunday and I stopped to look at a poster asking if anyone would like to give an elderly dog a home.It was on a stall run by the National Animal Welfare Trust and this branch was from Shefford Woodlands (lambourn area)I didn't know it existed. It's such a tiny little hidden away village. Anyway I phoned them, saying it was a long shot but had they by any chance had an elderly bitch of bella's description pass through their hands. They couldn't help me,the woman on the phone had never heard of Wroughton, but I gave her all the details and told her Bella is registered on Doglost uk.She has taken my phone number....More tears in the house yesterday ,it was 7 months to the date and my daughter Anna showed me the mot beautiful picture on her lap-top of our three dogs (that's inc. Bella) all cosily curled up fast asleep. Miss you -love you so much Bella xxxxxxx special girl.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sadly no news on my Bella.A neighbour of mine told me a few weeks back that she'd been cross with herself for doing nothing when saw a spaniel tied up outside a shop in Wroughton shopping centre. She was concerned in-case it had been Bella.I showed her my photo's but she still wasn't sure.I felt it was very doubtful to be Bella since there have been lots of posters in that area. Anyway it must have really played on her mind because a few days ago she saw the same dog and this time she followed dog and owner back home doing her best not to look suspicious.!!! She took note of the address then asked to see my photo's again and she could then confirm by the markings that it wasn't Bella. What a lovely lady though. Rose I've sent you a pm. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

HAD TO POST THIS AS THIS IS WHAT COULD HAPPEN! reunited Tan & white King Charles Spaniel Cross Dog in North (OL6) Name: DYLAN BRILLIANT NEWS Dylan is home. Owners travelled by bus yesterday to Manchester Dogs Home and actually seen a man walking Dylan from the Dogs Home he had bought him from there. They do not have internet access so hopefully another helper who lives near them will update us. Dylan has been CHIPPED and I have advised the owner to check that the details are changed. Dylan's owner's are over the moon getting him back and pass on their thanks for all the help they have had from DL. WELCOME HOME Dylan. Well done to the man who gave him back. Dylan's family came so very close to loosing him forever, what an amazing stroke of luck that their paths should cross just as he was leaving the dogs home! Agree that the chip details need to be changed, maybe a tatoo too! Great that there was a happy ending for this familyxxx DOGLOST Yasa - PR Team @ 0:05 - 6/8/2007 How lucky is this ? Welcome home Dylan, and so pleased for his owners. This must be a warning to other people with missing dogs, to check with kennels every couple of days. well it's been 5 months now since Bella went.Iv'e spent so much time going over everything that happened and all the possible sightings during this time. All I know for sure is that it was her my daughter and I saw just as it was getting dark one evening two weeks later.she was still hanging around the Ridgeway School area.I wish I could turn the clock back to that night .I didn't know what to do (whether I should call her name or not ) in the end I made a quick decision and called her name feeling sure she would be as relieved at finding me as I was at finding her!! what must have made it worse a couple of well meaning friends of my youngest daughter were out there with their two labs hoping they would pick up a scent if Bella was hiding out somewhere.Of course when they heard me call Bella they dashed over.Maybe ,just maybe she would have come to me if I'd have been on my own.I messed up my one and only chance.I can only guess that being very frightened she moved further out into the fields after that. It is so hard -the not knowing. All I do know is that whether she is (somehow) still in this world or not -I still 'feel' her very close to me. what I really want to do is say a huge thankyou to doglost helpers and especially Rose and Alison. The work you've put in looking for Bella has been just amazing. Can't thank you enough. You're very special people, and I'll keep dreaming for my miracle.XXXXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I put posters up @ Ridgeway etc on Tues but had to go again and take down poor old Alfie posters Wed, still more to do but have pm a couple of Doglost helpers if they could put up any in their area and perhaps hand out some small posters if they have any shows etc coming up, perhaps any one else looking at this could contact me and I could send them some hand outs that would be great as we have changed the poster the picture now is more representable of her and we need to cover more areas? Managed to whizz over (if that's possible with all the traffic lights up today) and put a few posters up around the area you mentioned to me Rose. Added reward in large red letters, just in case that attracts someone's attention. There aren't many places for posters in that particular area - most of the lampposts are too skinny! Will go over on Friday if I can to see if they're still there and find places for a few more.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken to Belinda about putting up a board and handing out posters at the carnival, and she didn't think it would be a problem, but will run it by the committee first and get back to me. Also, I have picked something up today about a Responsible Dog/Pet Road Show to be held on Friday 15th June, 2 - 5pm, at The Drove Veterinary Hospital on Croft Road. It is being run in conjunction with the Borough Council and the Dog Warden and is promoting microchipping - with a reduced offer on the day. Unfortunately I have to work that afternoon, but is it your vets by any chance Sandra? It could be an ideal opportunity to get the council and the dog warden on side. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I agree that the photos should be reversed if possible! My thoughts for the carnival were along the lines of saturating the place with flyers so everyone has something to take home. Obviously we'd need to ask permission from the organisers, and I wondered if they do some sort of information leaflet about the event (in Bassett a sort of booklet is produced to advertise what is going on) - if they do maybe we could get a picture in it. Will try ringing Belinda.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think that Wroughton carnival is on the 7th of july.Oh dear! I'm thinking now that we sent in the wrong photo of Bella to start with.It was done in a bit of a panic in the first place and was one that we thought showed her markings best including the three little dark spots on her back.Of course we -her family can easily see it's her but perhaps to others she doesn't very springer spaniel like!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

went up to barbury castle last night and suddenly a spaniel appeared very much like Bella.I did think for one minute........anyway it was soon followed by its owner who , when he saw me stooped down calling it went on to tell us that a lot of people over the past few weeks had given him and the dog suspicious looks after seeing the posters of the `missing Bella`.I suprised him when I told him that she's my dog! It's reassuring to know so many people are looking out for her.Anyway as we chatted he went on to say that his spaniel once went missing for two weeks. He couldn't be certain whether the dog had somehow escaped from his garden in covingham or if someone had gone in and taken it,however two weeks later a his son's girlfriend found it wandering around Liden wearing a different collar!!!!certainly makes me think....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm still always waiting/hoping for a phone call from someone with some news but it's all gone quiet now.I took some films in to be developed today.I couldn't remember what was on them but I was hoping there would some of bella that I could use to make up the ad. board as Rose suggested.I wasn't disappointed. There's a lovely one of bella on her own, and another with barney and bessie, all of them sat posing for the camera. bella looks so bright eyed and happy.I had mixed emotions as you can imagine.I so miss the way she used to just sit and stare at me until I'd stop anything I was doing and get down on the floor to play with her-or rub her belly!!! we had a drive around baydon/lambourne downs area last night .I kept my eyes peeled for alfie.I hope there's some good news soon.(thanks Alison for ringing the council etc.-hopefully they won't have any news for us) Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What are we going to do about poor Bella - I think about her every day. Have rung the highways people and railtrack again today to make sure there has been no news there - they haven't come back to me yet, so no news is good news there. The posters actually around Bassett lake have been taken down, but that was probably the town council - they've left the one by the car park. Will try the Gazette and Herald man again tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

felt the need today to search the area beside the Ridgeway School again where we had the last definate sighting of Bella.I took both Bella's mate and her daughter. The level of the water in the fast running stream over there has now ped so I followed it all across the fields with Barney and Bessie wading through it. I had them searching in the undergrowth again and still thankfully found nothing to confirm my greatest fears. Thanks Rose I'll get on and make an advert board for the Church fete. Also if I buy a parish news mag. it might have the carnival organizers names in there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Our Church Fete is on the 02/06 in the Ellendune (11-4) so Sandra if you would like to do an advert board on BELLA we can display it there. There is a lot going on that day so hopefully will have a lot of people coming in? Wroughton Carnival is coming up as well (not sure of exact date) so the same could be done then and /or perhaps we could do a float for DOGLOST???? Anyone know the organisers??Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sandra, I've been a bit quiet recently, but things going on at home and husband in hospital in Oxford (so convenient!), but I'm still looking everywhere I go. Have been to the lake and all the fields beyond it every day. The posters are still up. Didn't find anyone else who knew a similar dog in the area. because I missed the girls call with the info. on monday, she rang my daughter Anna's mobile.I wanted to speak to her myself so I rang 1471 to get her number.I tried to ring and speak to her again when I was in sorrell close hoping that if she lived close by ,after checking with her parents she'd be able to point me in the direction the dog was heading. Her phone was switched off.I hoped it was off because she'd gone in,but I did wonder if she'd got into trouble for phoning and making her number available to me.Anyway I decided to send her a text Tuesday morning before the start of school, but I haven't recieved a reply.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We had a good walk through the fields behind the lake (I'm starting to obsess about white carrier bags now!), but no-one and nothing about. Am going to go down and put up a poster near the railway down Whitehill Lane and then walk along under the motorway - there is a tip across that way, so will see if I can get in to leave a poster. given info of a possible sighting yesterday evening by a young girl on her mobile who said she'd just recently seen a dog roaming loose which was like the photo she'd seen of bella.she couldn't tell me much more apart from the fact that the dogs colouring was the same and it wasn't wearing a collar.we went straight out to sorrell close, wootton bassett to have a look around.there is a lake and a large wildlife area that backs onto sorrell close. spoke to a woman who said she'd just been right round the lake and hadn't seen a dog,but knew about her and would keep a look-out. (Alison phoned this morning and apparently there is a dog similar to bella that lives in the area so she's going to try to find out if it could have been out and about around the time the girl phoned.)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We were at Blagrove Sat & Sun, Sunday Andrew stayed there until 1am to see what was taking the food and he saw Foxes, Cats, Hedgehogs & Rats! no dogs unfortunatly. Replaced poster at Blagrove that has been torn down! Max was much better although thin and a poorly leg lots of people about (as met at charity dogshow in the Abbey Grounds) but he loved it, his owners are smashing people so he will be well taken care of. Apparently Max was found three days after his story went into the Standard. I contacted E Advertiser twice now about this story the guys name is Tom Morton 501802. Any time Sandra if you need us. By the way does anyone belong to CHC (Canine Health Concern) I have got them to mention in their newsletter DOGLOST which they have. They are brilliant so please have a look (non profit by the way they do it all for the benifit of all dogs) see below: www.canine-health-concern.org.uk Canine Health Concern was formed in 1994 by Catherine O'Driscoll, after two of her beautiful young Golden Retrievers - Oliver and Prudence - tragically died. She asked, 'why?', and the answers that came back were sufficiently disturbing to make her feel that independent research was necessary - free from commercial bias. Catherine was sent scientific papers which told her that commercial pet food was nutritionally inadequate, and that many deficiency diseases are the direct result of poor feeding. She also learnt that the annual shots we give to our pets each year, in the belief that we are protecting them from disease, are actually the largest cause of ill health in our pets today. CHC advocates real food for dogs. That is, food that Mother Nature has designed, over millions of years, and which has made the species thrive for millions of years. Members of CHC who have reverted to a CHC-recommended natural diet have seen illnesses disappear and vet bills plummet. Our diet survey showed an 85 per cent in the number of veterinary visits once dogs Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

just got back from Blaygrove/southleaze area.Blimey the area seems to keep growing bigger every time I go up there! the area we found white dog hair Ali was right behind the pale blue building (rear of W.R)where there's a large well kept grassed area.In the bottom right hand corner there's some barbed wire fencing going over a small stream. My husband pulled some white hairs off of this, and there were some paw prints. My daughter and I had another look around there tonight but security(same woman) told us we had to go as she was closing the barrier.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know where it is now. Stuck a poster on the gates to the allotments, and flagged down some cyclists and joggers to make sure they're keeping a look-out. 2 of the joggers were from Cartus, so gave them a poster to take back (they hadn't noticed the one I stuck up at the Cartus exit!). Where was the hair, Sandra? I just wondered if it was more to the rear of the building or the front where the car parks are.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

water research is past Cartus and facing you at the end of that road .sign just says W.R.It really is covered with undergrowth all around there.I've spoken to Allison the dog warden.I'm going to put food down where we saw the dog hair.Ideally it might have been a good idea to put it there early morning in-case the dog sticks to a routine but I'm not able to do that so it'll have to be in the evenings.Alison said (if this is bella)I may well have been only feet away from her at times but she will be hiding ,frightened even to come to me after so long on her own.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

One of these sightings will be the one we need, so don't give up. Which is the water research building? I can go over about 4.30'ish. The other day I started to walk along the cycleway between Mannington and Blagrove and there is a huge amount of tree and plant cover all the way along there. In fact the whole area is greener than you think it's going to be.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

had a call early this-morning from a woman on security duty at W.R (water research Blaygrove at about 7:30-8:00 this morning. She'd seen a dog which she said looked to her like the photo of Bella although she admitted she's not very good on dogs. The dog was at the back of the building where close by their are lots of tall trees and loads of bushes to hide in.we were met by the woman who very kindly had got us permission to wander around wherevever we wanted. We had a good search, found some white dog hair caught on a barbed wire fence but that was all.We checked out the allotments ,asked a gardener if he'd seen anything or if anyone had complained of veg being gnawed at but he wasn't aware of anything. If(hopefully) it is bella we were told she looks healthy considering she's been gone so long.I'm going back up later to put more posters up in the area.it really does seem to be like looking for a needle in a haystack though.I've tried to ring Allison(dog warden)to keep her informed.couldn't get through.i'll try again in a minute.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Was just wondering if there were any fetes or flower shows or something like that coming up in Wroughton so that we could remind people that Bella is still missing. Spoke to a very nice young man who walks his 2 collies regularly from Mannington across the fields - he has Sandra's number in his phone, and there always seem to be plenty of people walking/driving/cycling in that area and past South Leaze Farm. All the posters are still up around there. Not sure about Wroughton as haven't been able to get there for a bit - do we need to go round and renew those ones Sandra? Hi, this is from Sandra's daughter Anna! Just to let you helpful bunch know that a guy from Petshed (a shop outside Blooms) rang saying a springer was seen near the landfill site (next to Blooms) there this AM. Although he couldn't be sure it was Bella he said definately a springer...would imagine he would know but then some seem to be sure that a jack russel is a springer! Some more info was given from an employee of Cartus this morning also (relating to that male dog from the other day though) so it seems they are really trying to help too, which is great. Like I said, just wanted to keep you up to date as me & mum really like to at least return your kindness with letting you all know the current situation. Mum & dad now walking back through to Wroughton as they feel this is where she may be heading. To make it worse the guy seemed to think she had been hit by a car. So hopefully this time it will all be a bit more fruitful whatever happens after she has (hopefully) been brought home we need our darling dog back with us so we know what happenes/ed. We can't emphasise enough how grateful & overwhelmed we have been with your continued & caring support THANKYOU ALL! PS- I have checked those springers but none are Bella, thanks very much though :) Poor things look miserable. Thanks!! We'll let you know later what is happening, many thanks Anna & family.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hopes were raised again this-morning when I recieved a phone call from a lady who's husband had seen some-one picking up a springer spaniel quite close to the last sighting of what we'd hoped was bella. The woman said she was going to take the dog to a vets. I phoned around everywhere I could think of trying to trace the dog and I've just recieved a call back from the police saying that it was a male spaniel . Oh well perhaps next time!! I now need to go back a step - to blaygrove .I think there's one woman in particular who with the help of more photo's of bella might be able to tell me for sure whether the dog running around there was her or not.It seems quite likely at this stage to have been this other dog.I just felt so sure it was her,I'd even put food bowl back down next to the othersLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

at last I,m on!! I rang the dog warden yesterday to find out what time she was putting the food down.she wasn't available at the time so my daughter gave me a lift up to blaygrove at about 11:30 ready for a long sit-in close to feeding spot. Had just got up there when warden alison phoned me on mobile and said she'd be straight up.I didn't want to put food down myself without speaking to her first in-case I was going to be interferring with any plans she may have regarding timing etc.The previous evening the food had gone by 8:30 and I was hoping it would have been before any foxes were about.Anyway I sat hidden away in the bushes from 12:00-4:00 then again from 7:00-9 :15 when I had to leave without seeing anything and the food untouched.I was really hopeful that bella had taken the food tuesday and wednesday, now I'm more inclined to think she's moved away from blaygrove.I just hope she returns onto the farmland. It frightens me to think how she would cope if she goes the other way. anyway now I have the chance to say a big THANKYOU to everyone who has been so much help.I can't tell you how grateful I am,and special thanks go to Alison and Rose from sandraLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from Sandra (Bella's mum) is that Dogwarden is regulary putting food down and will not use trap untill they are sure it is Bella feeding (rather than Fox etc) and must be monitored as a traped dog must not be left too long as panic and hurt themselves, please still keep looking out for Bella as she may be traveling from South Leaze farm to Blagrove and back again. THANKS to everyone for there continued help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The message I left but has now been d, was that I rang the DOGWARDEN to get clarification about sightings of all the missing dogs in area that have been attributed to BELLA. The one in old Town is a Poodle Cross, asked why not on Doglost site but did not know why! She did not know about the Springer seen by the vets, although that vet is also the pound so difficult to understand that one. I also aked that is it time to put a dog trap at CARTUS as there is an overgrown area at the back so could be a good position and to ring Sandra and give her and update.Since then I have put up more poster's in the Toothill area where the underpass comes out.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rose and I posted this morning, but we seem to have been d! No real news as far as I know. More posters are up in the area. The dogwarden appears to have contacted most of the companies on the site and left her details. I spoke to the lady on reception at Cartus this morning, and she had just had an e-mail about Bella, so I left her some posters, and put one up on the way out of the Cartus car park. Very concerned lady at the cash & carry further up took a poster to photocopy and distribute. We're just waiting for another sighting. I think Sandra must still be having problems with registering on the site, otherwise she would definitely have put a message on here. AliLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is a bit of a rollercoaster isn't it?! There is a fair bit of tree cover around the Cartus building - used to be Readers Digest, and I don't know whether the whole of the building is still used, there may be some empty warehousing or something. I'm happy to go over in the morning and put up some more posters and try and get some into the building and some of the surrounding businesses - or at least their security offices at the entrances. Sandra is having problems getting on to the site, but she was going to contact admin so hopefully we'll be hearing from her soon! She and I went down to the fields yesterday afternoon. We spoke to some horse riders who said that they had heard Bella had been seen several times, although why nobody thought to ring beats me as there are posters everywhere. Still, it gives us hope. Eventually got through to someone at the dog warden's office, and Sandra had rung them this morning, so they are up to speed. The fields where she was spotted are alongside a narrow private road that runs from Wharf Road, across the M4 and then on over the railway and up to Blagrove. There are sheep and lambs in some of the fields and the farmer is aware - in fact he himself possibly saw Bella in with the sheep, but as she did not appear to be worrying them he left her alone. Am going back over again in a bit, and will try to in on Sandra and get her hooked up on to the site!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been to where Bella was seen, but no sign this morning. Met another lady (sorry can't remember your name!) looking with her dog Meg, and the farmer was about with the sheep, so if she's there she'll be seen again eventually. Have tried contacting the Swindon Borough Council dog warden but she's out, and no-one was prepared to take a message, so will try again at lunchtime. AliLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Me again! Great excitement - Sandra has had a possible sighting of Bella in fields sort of opposite the turn for Elcombe. The dog was described as being very thin and not particularly white. Please let this be her. Will be over first thing in the morning. Ali Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I do think that's a good idea Rose. I know the lady who distributes the Star to paper boys and girls in Bassett, so will see if she knows who does it in Wroughton. Also, I wondered if there were any spring flower shows/fetes or anything of that sort coming up. Kids are back at school on Monday, so I hope I'll be able to give a bit more time again. Have just driven my son up to Barbury Castle, and the posters are still up through Wroughton. Perhaps we need some that say STILL Missing. Is it possible to change the wording on the posters on here?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Might be a good idea to remind the folks of Wroughton that Bella is still missing. Perhaps ask/pay the paper boy of the STAR to put a leaflet in or a DOGLOST poster with a REWARD when he/she does the paper round. Someone must have seen her on that day!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not that I am aware of, and they certainly gave Sandra no indication of when they might do it. I suspect it got pushed to the back burner. Rose believes that someone must have taken Bella in, and I think I'm coming to see it that way as well. There are masses of springers in Wroughton for some reason, so it would be easy for someone to get away with not being noticed. If we could get some decent publicity it may help us to recruit a few more helpers in the area as well.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have phoned the highways authority again today re the motorway and NWDC cleansing dept, but they have no record of a dog like Bella, which can only be good news. I think it's important at the moment to keep people on the lookout and not let them assume that she's been found. Stay strong, Sandra. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Unfortunately it looks like the dog the lady saw belongs to someone in one of the houses up there. Must be devastating for Sandra. However, in case she has crossed the motorway at least there are more posters up there now and people are aware. I walked over from the Ridgeway this morning and all along the cycle path, both towards the canal and the other way. Gave some posters to workmen with diggers and things in one of the fields. They were happy to keep a look out. Will chase up the Gazette & Herald. AliLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sandra had a call today from a lady in old town to say she had seen a dog similar to Bella in the area of Mill Lane. An excited Sandra was on her way up there to look. Have printed off some more posters, but am so frustrated I can't get over there now - have to take my son swimming at Trowbridge, then tomorrow to cricket at West Lavington. If there is no news by then, I will definitely get up there tomorrow afternoon. Have e-mailed the Gazette & Herald, but if there is a chance this is Bella I can send another stressing how important an article in the paper could be. AliLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sandra - I'm sure you'll be reading this - it was lovely to meet you this morning, I just wish I could have been of more help. However, having seen exactly where Bella ran off from makes me think even more that she must still be around. I was very cross to find that both the poster by the Thames Water place and the one right by the junior school gate had been taken down, so have replaced them. Will check on them again when I next come over. Rose, I have discovered how to pm, so will contact you! Keep your chin up Sandra, and look after those other 2 gorgeous dogs of yours! xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Might be worth trying the Gazette & Herald. It's only a weekly paper but they did put Tessa's details in when we were looking for her. There is also a National Association of Beaters (www.nobs.org.uk). Again when we were looking for Tessa someone else posted her details onto one of their forums. I'm not a member but they do have a phone no 01793-741113 (Mon-Fri). Might be worth a try as it would get Bella's details to any shoots in the areaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have put posters up around the car park at the County Ground. Looks like there's a match today, so have asked if it would be possible to make an announcement at half time. Sounded as though they would, but people don't always do what they say! Met a lovely chap in the car park who says he lives in Wroughton. He wanted to know all about Bella, then proceeded to tell everyone around about her (think he's a regular). Didn't have enough posters to let him have some, but will take some and put them through his door next time I'm over. You meet some great people doing this!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ali. In that case I think someone must have picked her up, as she would have gone home or still be in the area. She apparently is not too good on her feet (bad hips) so could not have gone too far if he did not leave it too long before going back to look for her. I have just done Toomers poster still up in Asda going to Paradise Pets and Thameswood Vets laterand will put more around Wroughton. It just goes to show that good information is needed ASAP after gone missing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

All I know is that the day she went missing, she was last seen in the Ridgeway school playing fields. I believe Sandra's husband took the other dogs back indoors before going to call for her, so presumably there isn't any particular direction. If it was Bella that was seen later near the junior school, she could still conceivably be in the area, or have headed further afield in any direction. No help really!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ali. Of course. I did put up posters in my Area and Asda etc when first saw Bella on Doglost but cetaintly can do more. I take your point but the reason for my interest is that the owners have been concentrating their efforts mostly in one area, if I knew which way she ran off too it would open up different lines of enquirey and I think it could help, so which direction did Bella initialy run, as no one seems to have said.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rose, I don't really think they know which area to look in any more. The key has to be in getting lots more posters up and hoping someone will see her. I have taken one into Bassett Down Golf Course, and have emailed a poster to a friend who works at Nationwide - lots of people there go jogging at lunchtimes. Would you be able to get some more posters up around Wroughton? Bus shelters would be good, and, depending on where you are, the park and ride. AliLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There have been no more sightings of Bella. Spoke to Sandra earlier and she sounds pretty down. I've spent the afternoon over the fields and spoke to as many people as I could. To get into the Thames Water site - if it's automated and unmanned - call the External Relations Dept in Reading on 0118 373020 and ask for the contact details of the area manager for that site. Don't waste time with some bloody call centre.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I did go over in the end, but no sign. Spoke to a few people in the area, then bumped into the owner's daughter. Just by the place where Bella was sighted there is a Thames Water site, all fenced in but with places where a dog could squeeze through. Bella could well be hiding herself away in there during the day, and just venturing out later on when it's quiet. Will try and contact Sandra today to see what news there is.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We just have to hope that the sighting was of Bella and that she will eventually show herself. I am local to Wroughton, please contact Motorway maintenance and Police as you are near to the Motorway and Bella may have been sighted as they do not report, unfortunatly on animals. Also the railway police/maintenance as that is not too far from you as well. Contact local farmers as they are out and about and there is several in the Wroughton area. Try Traveller Camps also as we have a few in this area. Hope this helps good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be put up in the area a.s.a.p. lamposts, entrances to parks, vets, petshops, ask postie, milkmen, binmen (even put poster on bins), schools, deliver to houses etc. Handout smaller posters to people, especially dog walkers. Put A4 poster in car windows. Check Police station and Dog Warden. RSPCA and rescue centres need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows Bella. xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
