Paul
What an uplifting tale! We are getting over a recent bereavement (much aided by our online and other dog-loving pals), and seeing this sort of thing really puts a smile back. "Well done, Team Jack" just about says it!

lovely message from Sharon...................Myself and Linda roads went up to the area early this morning. Linda managed to get hold of him at around 7.30am. It was nice and quite up there. He was near to the feeding station. I would like to thank you all for all your help and patience , without you and Jackie and Hazel from Dog Lost this would not have happened. I can't tell you how grateful we are. Mr Chinn the owner would like to thank you all. Jack was so happy to be reunited with him
Unknown
Have had the most amazing call this morning that Jack has been caught. he was sleeping next to a log and Linda managed to calmly get low talk to him gently and get a lead round him. He is now back with Mr Chinn. Well well done to all those that put so much time in making this happen. Also Jackie again thanks for being there and supporting. will add lovely reunited pic xx
jacks
ha ha so thats where you have been see i noticed you were missing
Mollie & Will's Mum
Hi Jacks, hope all's going well with the feeding station. I've been away on hols, back today! x
jacks
I must admit Claire my heart stops when i know it's ashridge as it's such a vast area and of course it leads to so many places depending which way you go this is one place you have to depend on sightings to start with and a lot of luck and patience but thanks Claire
ClaireC
Good luck Jacks. You and Ashridge, if i recall, have a good relationship at getting dogs back!Last edited: 2015-04-03 22:39:34 by ClaireC

Mollie & Will's Mum
Wow, good luck Jacks, Sharon and everyone! Thinking of you and willing the little guy to come in to you x
jacks
i will keep updating to keep people in the loop as to what is happening
jacks
we have this under control we have the owner up there and i am in constant contact with him we were trying to keep it quiet so people don't flood the area and scare him away and this is what we are asking for we need sightings but that is all, we have a feeding station and working with the owner we are very close and don't want all this hard work jeopardised
Unknown
Hi Donna, thankyou for updating. I have now left comments re this. We have the owner and three people that are calmly working with Jack and are doing a feeding station. Can i Please Please ask again that if he is seen DO NOT CHASE call it in . thank you so much I am sure you agree we want Jack home xxLast edited: 2015-04-03 19:33:04
ClaireC
Thanks Donna. Apologies for mix up between you and pregnant woman. The coord will update later as they are aware. Thank you for alerting us. x
Donna
Hi Claire I was just updating to the page as another positive sighting today, what someone had wrote on the FB page, not actually me chasing him, I thought the same when i read her post running whilst 36 weeks pregnant!!! I will message the person and give her the phone numbers above to contact. Xx
ClaireC
Hi Donna please do not to chase after him if you sight him as this would be the worst thing you could possibly do! The owner and other volunteers are aware that he is still in this vicinity and will have with almost certainty set up a feeding station that will draw him in. Chasing him and even more so that you are heavily pregnant is not a wise thing to do for either of you and you must think of your own health and that of your baby's! If you do go up there tomorrow please take any of the phone as above and ring them straight away. Thank you Last edited: 2015-04-03 18:17:40 by ClaireC

Added 11 mins ago onto Fb page is anyone in touch with owner, to c if he can get there as another positive sighting just mins ago, seems to be same area as before. The missing Jack Russell - with a red colar, I've just seen him and tried to grab him up in the woods (along from the monument (on the main road to LB) opposite a house called 'The Wood'. He looks well and was eating something from the floor but as soon as he saw me he ran off, I tried to run after him but I'm 36 weeks pregnant and running in the pouring rain isnt my thing currently. But I'm going to go up there again tomorrow late morning and take some tasty food and see if I can find him. Anyone fancy joining me?
ClaireC
I feel sure this will have been thought of already, but the last sighting place could they leave some food out on a very regular basis and gain his trust as he will be hungry now. Last edited: 2015-04-02 08:34:47 by ClaireC

So glad he has been sighted, have been out looking for him. Fingers crossed he is reunited soon.
ClaireC
Good luck and have everything crossed for Jack to be reunited. x
Unknown
Was on phone earlier With Sharon who was making her way over earlier with Jackie from Doglost and Owner was making his way over. Can i please ask as I am sure you are aware sightings as much as possible to keep eye but not chasing. Jack is in survival mode and terrified and if there is any hope it will be from owner. It is brilliant he in area still but would imagine he is well and truly hiding again at the moment. At least a triangle can be worked out where he could be using a nest, water and food source. Glad the litte man is still doing well. xx
Unknown
He must be hungry, perhaps leave some food where he was seen, plus something with a familiar smell.
julie
Yep, a few people have gone to look, still not sighted again by 4pm today.
Donna
Comment added on FB group an hour ago this seems hopefull x
National trust have been informed..he was sat opposite the house called 'the wood' just down from the monument literally 15 mins ago..ran into the woods as we got out of the car...very scared and skinny!

ClaireC
I think I past an advert today whilst driving that there is going to be a marathon on 7 Apr at Ashridge. If Jack hasnt been found by then might be a good time to get a lot if posters printed and could be handed out to onlookers or drink stops.
Unknown
bumping as Jack is now in the local Gazzette...........http://www.hemeltoday.co.uk/news/more-news/still-missing-have-you-seen-beloved-dog-jack-in-popular-walking-spot-1-6657343
Unknown
Thankyou Lesleyjane that is really kind of you. I wonder if some have been removed, the ranger had said they would allow them up. xx
lesleyjane
Was walking at Ashridge yesterday, saw only 1 poster......will be back there sometime next week but hope Jack is found by then. If not will take some posters. Don't live that locally but am there once a week.
Unknown
Thank you Sharon, for coming on and updating it will help greatly with what is needed doing and where searching needs to be. We have some great help out there so at some point there must be a break through with a sighting. As in a convo with Jacks it may well be necessary to start getting help in also putting posters up further out as regardless of his size he could keep moving which is why no more sightings at the monument. The worse scenario is that he has been picked up by someone, so spreading the news further will get that word out. Well done for not giving up on Jack, brilliant support and help out there xx
sharon
still no sightings of Jack recently, we are still talking to dog walkers and trying to spread the word. He must be so scared and the weekend is going to be quite wet. Checking garden out buildings and sheds in nearby villages would be a great help so if anyone has friends or family in these areas please ask them to check. Thank you everyone for all your support xx
julie
Oh what a shame, how dissapointing.
Unknown
Sharon followed this up and the dog has been reunited with owner so def not Jack :( x
julie
The dog found yesterday that looks like Jack is being held at Forest Lodge rescue centre. tel no. 01604 862239.
julie
The dog found in Milton keynes yesterday ID 84695 does look like Jack, collar could have easily been changed and microchips can definately move or be unreadable, can the owner get to the kennels where this dog is being held to see if it is Jack?
jacks
yes i spoke to Sharon a little while ago it is very similar could be i have'nt seen you up on the common it was really eerie up there yesterday so quite and no one around very strange
Mollie & Will's Mum
He was lost on 18/3 and sighted again the following day in the field behind the cafe at the Monument. Also, very similar to 84695, found in Netherfield. Sharon is speaking to Hazel!
jacks
and by the way it is a red collar he is wearing not the black one in the pics
jacks
i thought it was at the monument unless i have the day wrong and it was wed when he went missing but i thought thats what i was told we really need the updates on here as this is uk wide more people use it as not everyone has a facebook a/c so won't go on to those sites and a lot of people follow doglost and a there is a lot of experience here aswell and it could be someone in scotland that could come up with some ideas thats why it is so important to keep his profile updated if there is any news or not we need to keep him in peoples minds as much as possible we just need one sighting that will change everything also the fb pages are closed groups
Mollie & Will's Mum
Jacks, hi - where was the sighting on Friday? The last I'm aware of was Wednesday by the Monument. Sharon's putting most of the updates (not much to report at the moment) onto the following FB pages: Dog Lover's Tring, and Everything Berko.
ClaireC
You can tell i havent been there for a long time!
jacks
these ar'nt there any more Claire they closed about 10 years ago there are houses on both sites now
ClaireC
There is a Children's animal farm at Little Gaddesden that might also be a good place to put a poster into if not already done. Good place for a little dog to go to as there is a constant food source and not so far away from where he went missing. There is also Deer Leap Swimming Pool again not that far away. although not open during the winter (I believe) but a good place for a poster.Last edited: 2015-03-26 07:08:39 by ClaireC
jacks
there are also a lot of ponds small ones but have these been checked i'm sure he would be able to get out of them if he had fallen in as there has'nt been a lot of rain but worth checking also once again has anyone raang the highways and railways as if he has made his way into tring he can get onto the railway is there anyone that could poster tring please
Unknown
Do we know as looking at the map and area there are a few golf courses that normally helpful and would take a poster in the clubhouse. Golfers are up very early so another help to keep eye out if Jack walking across any of them. Will try and check if this has been done if anyone knows please add here. also area was trying to remember below is come out from monument turn left onto the b4506 short way down take first left if you were to go right to end that is Ivinghoe Beacon National Trust Car Park. Along the road on the right just next to Dockey Wood there is a farm that once you walk up drive you can turn left towards their pond and walk on a small path that takes you down a very steep set of steps to a Coppice then woods that if you keep going you eventually come out to big hill where if you follow to top you arrive at the Ivinghoe Beacon NT carpark with cattle grid. this side is a lot quieter and would be good to get as many over there searching x
Unknown
Good points jacks hopefully can find some of those things out x
Unknown
The lady helping is doing her best and will either try and come on here or pass info on what has been done where looked etc I did politely explain that as much as possible needs to be put on for those that do not do facebook or helping so that they can see where to look or where to help. She did say she would call tommorrow. It is not just her, those that are on other places that doing things need to come on and update as well. x
Donna
The facebook page Jack is being posted on and updated on although sadly no more news yet is dog lover's tring and local areas x
jacks
i did see some more posters up today when i was up there are 100% sure it was Jack that was seen on friday will it be possible for a bit of history on Jack that might help why did he have his nails cut in berko when he does'nt live in this area did he used to live around this area what rescue did he come from and do we know why was he a stray before they may seem silly questions but they could help can someone help with these questions i know there is no news Hazebella but updates will help ie where people have looked that day i think getting updates each day on here keeps pople interested even if they are not helping it just needs one person to see him
ClaireC
Hazebella Aubrey should be Aldbury just to avoid confusion! I will be able to help out on Tue and maybe Wed if Jack hasnt been found or turned himself in by then. I have Jacks phone no and will liaise with her nearer the time. Cant do anything at the moment as i am away. Good luck to all those searching in such a vast area. Xx
Unknown
Have been on phone with lady again who helping elderly owner.(bless her she is working flat out to help as well). There are no sightings at all which is why there are no updates. She has been arranging a piece to go in the local Gazette. She has people she knows in Aubrey who when out on their horses are checking. She has managed to work with Rangers (monument) who are permitting posters to be put up. Several areas postered are Aubrey, Ringshall, Northcurch , Toms hill and Little Gaddesden. Will be able to update more areas as and when she finds out. So all that can be done is just keep sharing, looking out and hopefully getting that much needed sighting to come in so can work out a triangle of the route Jack is taking. The owner is so so greatful to all those helping. xx

Circulating on twitter......JACK Honey/Tan Parson Russell MISSING http://bit.ly/1y5faTA #Ashridge, near #Monument #HP4 Plz RT
Unknown
I will find out where I mean as def a farm went through into woods that eventually came out to big open land with high climb up to a car park and a cattle grid which if you went left brought you back to a lane that if looked to right those woods went back to monument. Any how when you contact Chester mum she will def help and then can put up areas that can help others searching x
jacks
it was'nt a farm we got chester it was on land where a house was being built on the way to gaddesden just past ringshall there are so many directions he could go in
Unknown
jacks do you know if the farm where Chester was has been contacted or posted around that side ? the area near pub right down that steep hill we walked that time the lady has done all way down there and round that area. She also has the details of farm etc so dont know if that has been covered do you ? x
Unknown
will request Doglost twitter hopefully will spread news further and get more info appearing on here to assist x
Unknown
The lady who is in direct contact with owner def knows all about contacting highways and did ask that they did do that as highways dont always contact. I will contact her again see if there is any news. thanks for all who helping ......good to have you on board jacks :) x
jacks
we desperately need a sighting of Jack i met up with Mollie and Wills mum today very strange as i meet her on northchurch common usually once a week and it was'nt till today that i found out who she was anyway back to business has anyone rang the highways dept or the railway dept we also need to start postering further afield i think any helpers or updates please
julie
Not sure if there has been any more sightings or not, there does not seem to be regular updates. I think there is a facebook page for Jack but i have not been able to find it.I walk asheridge most days and have not seen him at all. i have put posters in parking spots although most already had them. I speak with a lot of dog walkers and no one has seen him. Really dont know what to think.
jacks
has there still not been a sighting of him this does'nt make sense can anyone tell me where has been posted and the area range please
jacks
i think you can park there anytime when we have been looking for dogs before we have been up there late

All day walking from northchurch around the common to the monument and back, sadly no sign of Jack, put a few posters up in parking spots along the way. Very busy in the area today, think someone really would have spotted him if he is still in the area. Are people allowed to park near the monument overnight? I would be willing to stay out overnight to see if he comes for food.
jacks
there has'nt been a sighting since friday so at the moment we don't know which area he is so all that can be done is to keep searching any area at the moment and hope for a sighting and poster poster and poster to make people aware he is missing he went missing by the monument but he does'nt know the area and the sighting was also by the monument
morag99
Is there any news of recent sightings? Went up there this morning and did a long circuit through the woods but sadly no sign. Is there a specific area we should be looking? Thanks
ClaireC
Hazebella beat me to it! x
ClaireC
Hi. Not too sure about a trap at the moment. Would need to set up a regular feeding pattern with somebody watching it to see what is taking food etc. You wouldn't be able to set up a trap and leave it because of wild animals etc as it is against the law. Really need a positive sighting of him. If you get some then I might be able to locate a trap. There is the big management training college (or there used to be) at the other end he may well go this direction. A few posters down there would be a good idea. I will keep checking this page. xLast edited: 2015-03-21 11:25:22 by ClaireC

Have had chat with lady that organising help with Jack. Have helped with how to scent as much as possible in last area. A trap would only be an option if a feeding station has been started and proved that it is Jack coming for the food. A trap as well can not be left due to location and amount of wild life in there. It is a vast area, so spreading out and searching further would be great to get new sightings at a distance so as not to spook him away, so we can form a triangle of where Jack is going. Jack does not know the area so will be very scared. Hopefully posters can be placed where allowed out side of the park and at pubs and farms that are local. thankyou for every one that is helping xx
Mollie & Will's Mum
No news and no sightings yesterday. A few of us are up there looking regularly as is the owner. We were hoping that he would stay around the cafe due to the food smells. If he has, he's waited until we've all gone. Claire Weston Turville - do you think it's worth trying a trap? If so, can we borrow one from somewhere? x
julie
Any news on Jack? No sign of him on Northchurch common this morning between 11am and 12.30am, also no sign of him at or around the monument 2pm untill 4pm today.
Unknown
need to leave some of his bedding or your dirty clothing with the food...
Mollie & Will's Mum
All of this is on FB - but there was a sighting yesterday afternoon - he obviously smelt the cafe, and came wandering along for food. So we were back there at dusk and left some smelly food overnight which had gone early this morning - we don't know who ate it though! A few of us had a good look around this morning with no luck, and several people are going up at different times today. We need help with posters though. I've just moved house and have mobile computer set up but no broadband or printing capability. If anyone's able to print posters and get those put up around the Monument and in Aldbury that would be much appreciated. x
morag99
Have shared on Facebook and Twitter Berkhamsted area, hope he is found soon
Unknown
not toooo sure he's a Parsons?
jacks
i just want to warn everyone that is around this area that there were two foreign men around northchurch common and ashridge near toms hill aldbury area this morning trying to snatch dogs PLEASE BE AWARE. as Jack was seen later today i'm not by any means saying that this has happened to him but thought this is the best way to let people know and also the fact he is wary and timid he will be hard to get hold of. He will probably go into hiding tonight and yes it's a good idea to go up just before first light when he will start to become active i will keep my eyes out for him when i'm up there hopefully he will be back tomorrow

Been up tonight till 7pm but got to dark. Walked round behind the big field then back, behind the monument down to the rangers lodge, up the bridleway to the old shooting lodge and back down the track. No sign of jack. Lots of deer around though. Back at the car park met a lovely group of ladies who had also been out looking and have left food at the cafe for him. Seems there's a lot of talk on F/B but not on here. Need to get posters up so we can get more sightings. We also need to remember the owner has said he is nervous and weary of strangers, so calling him won't work!!

Can alerts go out for Jack please.

Photo added ready for email alerts to go out please.

My guess is he will stay fairly near the area he was lost in especially as there is a café there and its a food source. Maybe try to get up there before dusk or early morning with food and sit quietly and wait and see. Good luck xxLast edited: 2015-03-19 17:32:37 by ClaireC

post on Dog lovers Tring and local areas: Jack was sighted approx 4:00pm near the monument. Running from the right hand side of monument across the front of it, and behind the cafe into the big field.
