Very sad day today me and our dog Fleur went on our normal Sunday morning walk, mostly off track as she likes to lead me, this morning we followed a stream through down from Button Oak to Dowles Brook and came across Dexter he looked at peace and fell asleep chasing rainbows.

I have just been with his mom and friends to help collect him and take him home, they can now put him to rest,I'm sure his spirit will live on in the beautiful but sad setting we found him in.
Thoughts with he's family.

Hi, I've just got back - covered an area that complemented that which Jane had covered -no sign I'm afraid. You might want to call 'Forest Dog Rescue' on 01299 269181 - website http://www.forest-dog-rescue.org.uk/About-Us.html as quite a few dogs lost in the forest end up there.
jane
Just reading where you last saw him, do you mean the old railway track, thats the cycle route and the gate, does it drop doen steeeply there to the Dowles Brook and then u cross a bridge to a mill that is used bt bham schools, cause thats another area if u saw him down there and then its about 2 or 3 miles to Button Bridge. Dont get the Button Lane bit.I know the area quite well. Will keep looking while walking my Springer.
jane
Could not get to the side of unclys cause of timber felling. Lot of noise from saws at mo so I would be surprised if he was there. Took middle track to where it joins up with forest track down to brook. Girl at unclys will tell forest workmen. Also walked past st georges farm, no sign, but there are outbuildings there. No poster at car park at end of Tanners lane. Dog walkers walk long way from there. I have met u somewhere before, Burlish? I recognise your dog
jane
Will walk back of Unclyses up towards forest centre this am

Thanks for trying Simon. I doubt that he will try to get home as we're a good 40-45 min drive away in Oldbury.
Doc Oakley
Hi - sorry, no sighting. I saw all your posters and covered an area well west and slightly north. I'll go further north and east tomorrow afternoon, from where your last sighting was. I mentioned Dexter to everyone I met, most had seen the posters. Would he be trying to make his way home, do you think?
Doc Oakley
OK, I know exactly where you mean. I'm heading in there in the next half an hour or so. Simon.

The last time I saw him I had walked this route….entered from car park where emergency barriers are near horse box parking, walked down past where the eco pigs were and straight down to where there's a gate and a sign for the butterfly walk, (i've been told this is also a cycle route). Dex ran off at the gate but not sure which direction. He was seen the same day near the window company on the main road to the right of the car park and also down the lane on the left approaching the forest car park. He was seen the day after near car park on the same route we walked, there is now a poster there and his coat which will give you an idea of where he was last seen. Thank you all for your help in the search for my big baby x
Mollychops
Thanks Doc Oakley, I will get a more specific area from the owners
Doc Oakley
I live in the Wyre Forest and can go out looking today and tomorrow - but could there be some more specifics re: location? Is it 'Button Bridge Lane'? That is completely the other side of the Forest (as in 2+ miles away) from the Visitor Centre.

Cant the owners get there with loads of smelly clothes and dog blankets and just drape them over the car with the doors open xx
Mollychops
Everyone is aware of Dexter in the area. He has been sighted coming back to where he ran from, but is very scared, so please do not chase, Ive sent advice sheets and a photo will be coming on seen. He has been seen in Button lane, off the Wyre track, which is to the Right side of the main forest carpark, op side from the visitors centre
Twinkles
I have been following this dog on facebook and have been keeping an eye out for him. Have fingers crossed that he will be found safe and well.
