I am checking with the reporter where details came from as seems just from a FB link and as Kent police issued the statement on the evening after the paper was printed I would still think without a name or a CRN it is unconfirmed.

I found this post of 2 Spaniels being stolen however, it doesn't say what sort of Spaniels - might be worth the finder checking with the local police.

horrid. All these abandoned dogs, why try to take a dog off a person walking in broad daylight? I don't think I understand people anymore at all.

Police are investigating an attempted dognapping incident which happened Thursday 15th Jan afternoon in Headcorn.

It happened at around 1.45pm in Lenham Road, when the woman was walking her dog on a lead.

A man is said to have approached her and made repeated attempts to take the dog from her.
After the owner resisted, he eventually got into a vehicle and drove away.

The vehicle was reported to have had its number plates covered and was described as being a white Mitsubishi.

The man is described as having an Irish accent and was around 5ft 8ins tall, of heavy build. He had reddish/blond hair which was shaved at the bottom and was aged in his late 20s.

Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference YY/01005/15.

However the reports on Facebook of a second incident stating 2 spaniels stolen are unconfirmed.
As of 4:50pm today (Saturday 17 January), Kent Police were unaware of any reports of dog walkers being attacked and Spaniels stolen in the Charing area, so this incident has either not been reported for some reason, or it is an unfounded rumour
