Well done everyone, we will keep Betsy in mind all the time. Remember to call us if you have any sightings or any clues, as with so many dogs coming on we can't monitor all the messages immediately, but we need to know if there is something we need to run with, okay? Betsy will stay here until she is found. Never forgotten. Keep looking for this sweet girl. x
Lily

Those allotments are a BIG possibility. Everything dogs need are usually around allotments. Well done. Bumping for sighting. Can you leave some old thing from home discreetly there? An old T-shirt?. Do the scenting (as per advised in email attachments) around there to keep her there. Leave some food & water twice daily (but discreetly and with a poster very close. Poster the whole area. This is excellent news and it could well be her. Dogs are so clever at living wild. We know on DogLost, anything is possible. Keep up the good work! x

Maybe worth considering getting in touch with k9 tracker Jenny and her dog as she can track upto two weeks after the dog goes missing and has found another dog who went on railway track somewhere else.

I hope so way away from the tracks I hope xx

Okay, I know this is unpleasant, but we really must keep on at Network Rail and the stations to walk the tracks as public cannot, and are not, allowed to do so. Betsy is probably safe somewhere, but having experience in this, no matter what, if there are no more sightings, you must keep on with posters and the rail people. She is somewhere, you just need to figure out where and some of the places we need to check we cannot access. Please get her in the paper. You could use an angle like "Train slows for dog on tracks" and this will get public's attention and they should look out for her. It needs to be done NOW or it is old news. Okay? It may be too hard for owner, so someone else may need to take the reigns on this for them. Come on Betsey sweetheart, show yourself my love. x

Hi. If you have a Twitter account I ll start RTs from my account out to my followers. Better to Tweet from a Find Betsy twitter account itself rather than post links out from Facebook. Lots of Twitter users dont do Facebook.

Shelagh Savage, we have been out with our other lurcher looking around the last sighting in the hope that she will smell/hear him. We have also been sticking up and handing out posters, and are printing out another 200 tomorrow. Please search Bring Betsy Home on facebook to joi the group for updates if interested and thanks again to all for your continued help and kind words. Xx
Bran TheGrey
Shared, good luck hope she comes back safe
Shelagh
Maybe she caught up by lead. Is there any shrubbery near her last sighting. ? Have you thought of taking a dog and making it bark then wait for response. Course you could have half dogs in neighborhood barking, but usually if dog just barks once one one should respond.

So glad owner is posting on here. As PaulaK said, poster, poster, poster! You do need to keep on at the station/s to help look for her; you have need to be persistent. Keep calling Network Rail also, you will get different operators sometimes who say different things, don't worry - just keep on asking and get a reference number. You need to rule it out, okay? Please get those posters up in 100's around the area and I do mean 100's if you can. You need to make her so famous that everyone is looking out for her so you get sightings. Let us know as soon as you do. Keep at it. xxx

WillowGH, I've taken out the micro-chip number from your comment below and put it into the area that only co-ordinators and wardens can see.

URGENT PLEASE ADMIN OR OWNER REMOVE CHIP NUMBER FROM THE POST BELOW XXXXX
PaulaK
I would advise you to get posters up ASAP - that way if seen people know who to call. Good luck

Hi I'm Betsy's other owner and can't figure out how to edit the post? She was wearing a blue floral print collar, black harness and red lead when she went missing, and is people shy but dog friendly. We've been out several times along the tracks and nearby housing areas with our other lurcher but have had no luck. We'll be heading back out later with clothing, food and water for her. All local rescues, vets and authorities are informed. She is wearing a tag and her microchip number is now available for co-ordinators to see. If no luck by tonight posters are going up.

If it is helpful my mobile is 07895438010

Thanks so much to all that have helped so far.Last edited: 2015-01-13 14:21:38 by BB451 Kent co-ordinator

No sign of her yet but now its light we're hoping she is spotted somewhere. She's not much but she's mine and I'm desperate to get her back.

Looked around gosforth/ilford road this morning and no sign, possibly gone further out but most likely off the tracks now and wandering streets as no metro drivers have seen her.
Unknown
Maybe she will try and make her way back home, leave bedding out in the garden.praying for good news xx
Suzy
Ive been out tonight with my greyhound as owner says the lost dog is shy with people but very dog friendly. Ive been on streets alongside metro line SGosforth - Jesmond. Owners contacting vets/shelters/warden etc tomorrow. The area is well populated so hopefully dog will be spotted. Its left the track and metro will alert owner if any sightings. Dog doesn't live too far from missing area.

Oh my goodness Betsy I really am putting our positive vibes that you get to safety where someone can catch you and get you back home. Be Safe Betsy XXX

We need to somehow coax her away from the tracks. Maybe owner can do the scenting away from there leading her back to where lost and away from the trains. I don't know the area but those who do, can figure this out. Leave some owner's old clothing, water, food etc at the end of the scenting with posters. I also think you need to poster everywhere in that area, at the stations and all lamp posts etc. You need to get to the train drivers, so stand on the platform and give out mini posters to them all. Get hepers to help with that as it's probably a 24 hour thing to catch all the drivers. This should get them all on side and they should watch for her. Any workers (including night workers) working on the track need to be alerted too. You may not know when they are working so ensure you have loads of posters up so they cannot miss them. Give leaflets/posters to all the taxi drivers the ranks at the stations. Get posters to all the stops within a 5 mile section both ways, of the middle station lost at. This is a terrible ordeal for owner, so please, someone needs to ensure they are not alone. They will need support, physically and emotionally. You need to keep searching along the tracks as close as you can get. Remember they do not scan dogs found and very often they are not reported. We to need to continuously check the area, not just in that same place, but along both ways.
Call the local radio as you need to try and alert people to keep eye sout. It should make a story so they should run it. Don't worry if they don't, but try. I think owners will need others to do is for them as it can be too hard to function worrying about your dog as well. Please everyone, help get posters up. This is the most important thing.
BB can you get Network Rail to log and notify British Transport Police also. Well done for listing this baby and thank you for alerting me. I'm here to help, even though far away.
Thermal camera would be fantastic! It may help to find her route if she is making a triangle.
Owner has not seen this page, so I would suggest helpers just use own initiative and please help in whatever way you can. Many thanks. x

"Betsy is missing. She spooked and slipped my hand on Haymarket metro station in Newcastle and has since ran off. We don't know if she is hurt or not and was last sighted running the metro line between Ilford Road and South Gosforth still wearing her collar and lead. Anyone in the Newcastle area PLEASE keep an eye out for her in case she's left the metro line. We're worried sick."
