Lovely video, he looks like he is enjoying himself, would love to see him wagging his tail one day!
CopperM
If you look at his facebook page, there's a lovely video, march 17th, of Wilbur trying his wheels for the first time!
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Thank you Holly :) CopperM I have put £1000 on his go fund me page, I know it sounds a huge amount and I am not expecting that much but his bill is pretty large, although the vets have been extremeley generous, the surgery he had and treatment so far would have run into the thousands.
CopperM
Obviously you would like as much as possible for Wilbur, but have you a target £££ to raise?
Holly
He sounds such a determined little dog, so pleased to see he is making progress. Ive been on his facebook page and made a small donation, keep going Wilbur!
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Hi CopperM, sadly no cart offers but thank you for trying. We now have a facebook page for Wilbur to try and raise some money for a new one and some of his vet bill. He is doing so well, just progressing slowly. His tail is moving more and more and I think it wagged properly at the weekend. He is trying to get up by himself from laying down, he managed about 3 and a half inches yesterday, which does not sound a lot but I was dead excited. He is also standing while eating and being distracted so he does not have to concentrate too much to stand. I have some more pics on his facebook page and his vet nurse will be posting a video of Wilbur today I think. If you search Wheels for Wilbur his page will come up.
CopperM
Sorry- no cart that I know of yet, unless Basildon DW has had a direct offer....

How is Wilber progressing?
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Thank you Copper M, you are a star
CopperM
Have posted on Rescue Helpers Unite for offers of a cart.
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Thank you me n my girl, yes they are very smitten with him. He is doing well, I don't know if they told you but he is managing to stand up by himself when he is in a bath, I know the water is doing most of the work but he has the will to do it, we could see the effort in his face :). We are now looking for a second hand walking frame/cart for him if anyone knows anyone with one for sale or spare.

Oh well I'll have to wait another week for the face lift, vets have opened an account for this little guy so can accept donations towards his care. Think the staff are smitten by him.
Holly
All going in the right direction hopefully, great to hear
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Wilbur update - he is managing to stand for longer and longer, he is also moving his tail more, I can not wait for the first wag! he still has loss of feeling in areas so my vet is doing more tests and will consult with a neurologist. Wilbur may well have to have a walking aid to help him but we will see.

Great news, hugs from me xxx

What a bright cheery post, so glad he is progressing. Awesome vets
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Thanks me and my girl, they are really just too busy with intesive physio and tons of Wilbur cuddles to do his account. I currently only have partial custody of Wilbur due to how much work my awesome vets are doing with him, although I did steal him this evening. He is doing so amazingly well. He managed to stand for 26 seconds yesterday and is getting stronger and stronger and gaining muscle tone. He is also really showing his character now, very playful and happy. We all love him to bits.

Rang vets and they said to call back next week when they've set Wilburs account up, because his treatment is ongoing. How trusting.
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Thanks me n my girl, we already checked Teddy, not him :-( and thank you, definitely need help with funding, its going to be long road to recovery and anything is really really appreciated. My vets details are Benfleet Vets 01268 753775. We are pretty set on Wilbur for a name now, Di I lost and my sister won, I shall take some nicer photos of him looking a lot happier when I pick him up from my vets this weekend, that's if he wants to come back home, he is being spoilt with fresh roast chicken, massages that send him to sleep and tons of cuddles!Last edited: 2015-01-22 20:41:29 by Basildon DW

Do you need help with funding treatment? If you do can you put vet details on here please.
Holly
Sounds like he has got determination on his side, which is good! So wishing him well, whatever his name is, or was!! Keep fighting little man!!
Di
Ha-ha Sarah !

Onwards & upwards little man ... you are so-oo-ooo- lucky

Nice to hear that he's a plucky lad (always a good sign) ... who won with the name ?

What good news. Don't think it is and you've probably looked, there's also Teddy missing? from ME2 ID 79685 since 21/11, he's 13 yrs old and has a small bump (hernia) on his stomache. Keep trying Toby/ Ziggy/ Alfie you'll need those legs to chase the ladies.
Dog WardenBasildon DW
I dont know about that Di, he could be at yours :) Good news, He was able to stand again today, one of his legs is really weak so no walking yet but you can see he is desperate to, my fabulous vet is going to keep him for a few days to do some more physio and assesments.
CopperM
Seconded!
Di
He couldn't be in better hands x
Dog WardenBasildon DW
I am praying that he is someone lost/stolen pet and can be reunited but if not we will do everything to get him a new home, he is a charming little chap. There is the mobility issue and time will tell if he regains the ability to walk but as long as he as a really good quality of life we will do whatever it takes to home him, even if he needs further surgery or wheels!! If it comes to it, we will build him an Iron man suit, now that would impress the ladies.
Holly
Pleased to hear he is making some progress, so hope an owner will turn up, or that he can be rehomed!!
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Thanks Ladies. He is doing well, other than lack of feeling in a some of his hind legs but he wants to play and is much more comfortable. He is a real ladies man and has taken a massive shine to another foster girlie I have.
Di
Aaaw - poor littlun.

Well done for taking such care of Toby/Ziggy/Noodle (he looks like an "Alfie") ha-ha ! You are a star. Poor boy ... give hime a gentle hug from me x

I've shared (as best I can) on "lost and found animals Essex" without photo. He may be an older persons pet without internet access. Thanks for all you do for your lost and found.
Dog WardenBasildon DW
I am convinced he was a much loved pet, he desperately wants to be on someones lap and does not like to be left alone :(
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Thanks Me n my girl, Toby/Ziggy (still have not decided) was able to weight bear for a second today but we have lost a little bit of feeling so he has some increased inflammation so good news and bad news. I'm sure he will be ok, I am mega pleased he could stand though. He has been so good with all the prodding, poking, pulling and humiliation of having to be expressed.
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
Toby/Ziggy hope you're feeling better today.
Dog WardenBasildon DW
He does not appear to have been in a road traffic accident. Sometimes this sort of condition can prgress over time or come on suddenly. He had a bit of a rough night last night so has gone back to the vets for obs. He is desperate to get up and getting fairly anxious, which is no suprise considering what he has gone through.
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
Wonder how it happened, he must have got there somehow as not many houses on that stretch of road. Would something like that happen if he jumped out of a lorry making deliveries, he doesn't look as if he has been involved in a road accident. Main thing is he's a trier, hang in there boy. Thanks for updating us.
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Unfortunately its not Teddy. Could be his twin though!
CopperM
Hope he continues to make progress.
So he isn't Teddy after all?
Dog WardenBasildon DW
Toby / Ziggy Stardust(we are undecided on his name yet, we are having a vote and I am losing!!), is doing well, I realised I have not mentioned what was wrong with him. He was found in a bit of a state and he was unable to walk, he was rushed to my vet and it was obvious there was paralysis of his hind legs. He had a herniated disk in his spine, we had no idea when this happened or if it was due to progressive disease or sudden but we decided to take a chance on the little chap and went ahead with surgery. I dont want to jinx anything and say the surgery was a success as we still have a very long way to go but everyday there is improvement. This morning he was trying to lift himself up so he is eager to get back on his feet but needs strict rest but the signs are encouraging. Last edited: 2015-01-13 12:38:51 by Basildon DW
