Just been phoned today (8/7/15) by kind man saying they think they MAY have seen TAV last Saturday near The Bush Pub in Ovington, Hampshire. Looking tired, sitting in the middle of road. Am going to go and search but if anyone sees this dog - I am still searching for him. Would be so grateful. A long time has passed but you never know. Thanks to all.

Are there any old shafts out that way he could have fallen in or old wells?

Use copper piping to put down rabbit holes etc.. to call Tav or maybe get a tracking dog in - got to be worth a try!

Just a thought but if he can be heard barking loudly I wonder if he is down a hole....wouldn't that sound muffled? Maybe he is caught up in something. I know it's hard to do but maybe people need to creep around in the woodland listening for the barking and gauging which direction it's coming from before letting him know you're around....(easier said then done I know!) but most dogs will go quiet when they hear someone coming. Hope he's found soon, got everything crossed here.

Have you tried the fire brigade, as they have heat seeking equipment they maybe able to locate him with if you ask them. It has to be worth a phone call at least. I know firemen are usually sympathetic where animals are concerned. I would still keep walking the area and calling he may respond if he hears you as if he's stuck he's sure to want to find you as much as you want to find him.

Possible sighting in Alton Lane, off Telegraph Lane in Four Marks.

I was involved in the search for Barney who went missing for nearly four weeks and despite extensive searching he did not pop up until a month had passed. He was absolutely fine if a little thin. My reason for posting this is to say keep searching, don't give up, he's out there some where and I'm sure he will pop up soon
Gino
From the owner: Just to thank you and people for their kind suggestions. We live near a lot of 'live' badger sets which are virtually impossible to check completely as they are very big and some very deep,a lot of them running among each other People are not willing, understandably, to send their terriers down. We have tried with a man from the local hunt who came today but they could detect nothing. Not a sound. I suspect he has either been taken out by a badger or picked up by someone, randomly. Still keeping an eye everywhere.
Esther
I think someone said on here that if you put a hosepipe down in to a rabbit hole you can sometimes hear if there is movement inside the hole. Just a thought. Good luck
Beth
Definately take Sals advice and check pheasant pens it sounds to me like he was stuck somewhere .... I live near woods and my spaniels and terriers are forever getting stuck in wire etc and they bark continuously for a bit then sit quiet and wait xxx
sal
Get some friends together and do a grid search of the area. I found my dog caught in a fox snare, so check around pheasant pens etc
allimac
could he be stuck down a rabbit hole? It is not unheard of, that they get a bit lost in there.

Could he be caught up in bramble or something similar or even gone down a hole of some sort? A lady over our park found a cat in the middle of a dense bramble area and that was only because the cat was meowing. Would a squeeky toy get him going, hope you find your boy soon.

Could your dog have gone to ground, down a rabbit hole or something like that? Maybe another dog could help you lead the way. Just a thought.

Gino,

I am now utterly convinced he has been stolen or is being held by someone. I definitely heard him barking yesterday and a friend up the lane also heard him - and he always came to the whistle - I trawled the woods from where the incessant barking was - there was a lot of activity with deer running and possibly pheasant or a dog running, I could only see briefly in the distance but entering the wood there was no sound whatsoever. I went early again the following day and last night. Please could you put on his page 'heard barking loudly for about 1 minute on the 13th in woods The Firs, local to owner, now presumed stolen'

I am gutted.
